831 T.D.o.N.B: Aftermath of the 'party' incident
The next day, after a short breakfast, I announced that I’m going to visit Loistavadvaar to get stronger. They told me to take it easy, but I already had my own plans. This was just a facade that I needed to build before really going after the city in the sky. My true goal.
To do that, though I also felt like I should get stronger, just in case. Even Ixa wasn’t able to conquer that place. As a matter of fact, some were saying that she returned with her tail between her legs after her attempt to conquer Aaraam’soturi. The only one who knew the truth was The Great One, but I didn’t want to ask him, just in case he would have a different opinion on my idea about going there.
After all, it didn’t really matter. I knew she failed, and that was a big enough clue for me to strive to increase my power.
The power of the fruit made me believe I could be able to face her on my own, even not going so far as to release the destructive power which allowed u to win that battle in the first case. I wasn’t hundred percent sure, since I didn’t have an opportunity to test myself, which was another reason to go to Loistavadvaar.
The problem with that place was, that it was very hard to find any ghosts without guidance. I knew only one good spot to look for them. It was the world with those high towers. Some of which were often blasted by lightning bolts. It clearly had a purpose, but I didn’t know it, and neither carried for it.
With my newly acquired strength, it was the most obvious choice, so I did go there. I looked around a little bit, finding a single ghost, which got quickly eliminated. I jumped him off guard, and a single, but the very powerful punch was enough to decimate him, and part of the architecture behind. I got a crystal, which ended up in my vault, but my time window kinda came to an end, so I had to return.
I showed up back home sometime before dinner. My wife was already cooking something in the kitchen, so I decided to help her, but we only barely started preparing the ingredients when Tihana and John showed up.
They both were panting heavily, which immediately alarmed me that something indeed had happened.
– What is it? – I asked putting away the onion I was about to start chopping into small pieces.
Celestine turned off the oven with worry painted all over her face, and faced them too.
– Remember the guy from yesterday? We went hunting today, and we met him once more. He challenged Leonel to a duel. They are about to fight in one of the training pits – Tihana informed me after she caught her breath.
– The guy had some friends with him, and they even threatened to fight us all if he didn’t accept, so he did – John added. – There were a lot of them, so he accepted.
– Does Will know? – I asked, already moving towards them.
– We don’t know. We came running here immediately – Tihana said.
– He will know in a moment. I’m sure of it – John said. – But I doubt he will do much, with the number of people who already got interested in this fight. There is a whole crowd. I guess what happened yesterday spread around the city.
– Ok. Let’s go – I told them, as I passed between them, heading to the exit.
My wife was following me, so the two joined us.
We rushed our way through the city, eventually arriving at the training facility. It was now massive. Multiple training sandpits were stretching from left to right, all the way to the horizon. The archery range had to be moved somewhere else because I couldn’t see it. The row of gyms only got longer too. The only remaining part was the building where Will used to lead the city.
There were people in each one of the pits, but one, in particular, had a big ass crowd of a few hundred people gathered around it. It obviously was the one where the fight was about to start. I noticed Will with the assistance of a few people pushing their way through the crowd.
Well, it wasn’t much of a pushing, because all he needed to do was direct the attention of people to himself, and they would immediately step aside.
We had to run to join him.
He was wearing his fancy clothes but by the unbuttoned cuff buttons, I deduced that he put them on in a rush.
– I’ll handle it – he informed me before I was even able to reach his side.
– Fine. I’ll watch – I replied.
A moment after, we reached the edge where the concrete stands slowly descending to the sandpit was starting. There were plenty of people sitting there, observing Leonel on the left, and a group of guys preparing the familiar asshole from yesterday, who was about to fight with my son.
Leonel was in plain clothing and didn’t even have his weapon, while the other guy had everything prepared, but I guess his pride made him pick a fair wight, without equipment.
Will’s arrival made everybody avert their eyes off the sandpit, and focus on him, but the group of people directly engaged, remained focused on themselves. He didn’t fuck around. To make him look his way he summoned a giant ass sword, which fell from the sky in all its glory and sunk deeply in the very middle, with a clean sound of resonating metal, spraying sand around, and causing a wave of wind to hit people.
They had to cover their faces from the dirt flying at them, but the effect he desired to achieve was achieved. He had people’s undisrupted attention.
He didn’t say a thing at first, making them wait, to build tension. A nice trick to further underline the words that came shortly after.
