Another Stupid Isekai

672 Days UNKNOWN: The Clash Of Titans, part V

‘Shadow whispers’ saved my life. The fury and hunger of the thoughts tormented in The Void had to overwhelm even a mind as powerful as Ixa’s. I once also experienced it, but now I was able to pass through that space freely thanks to my skills.

She didn’t have that luxury, so as she stepped into the domain of my thoughts, she had to pay the price, since her presence was unwelcome.

She got back up from that hit quite fast, though, so I also had to face something. Her furry.

She chased me, zooming through space thanks to her psionic powers, and she was actually faster than me, as I soon learned.

She launched herself after me, causing a powerful shockwave, and loud noise, as she breached the barrier of sound. She reached me, and I had to react, so I shadow walked to escape her telekinesis once again, but the situation was quite dire.

We danced like that. I always stayed maybe a single toe ahead in this race, but it was very close and lasted for way too long for me. The Great One came with help, launching another powerful beam, which almost killed me, but I was still thankful, as it separated me and Ixa, giving me a little bit more time. These were fragments of second, but they changed a lot.

After that attack, she also got more cautious, and slower, because she expected the next one to come, so I was somehow able to keep her at bay.

A long moment later, Druoag also returned to help. He would launch himself off the ground straight at her, aiming to hit her with his gigantic fists, but each time he missed, and smashed into the ground, some distance away from us. This would repeat over, and over, and over until she decided to get away and come up with a different approach.

I finally was able to catch a breather, and for the first time in ages, I was actually panting heavily. Only for a few seconds, though, as my stamina was ridiculous. Moreover, there was no time for anything longer than that. The High Queen needed to be slayed, and despite how I felt at the moment, there was no room for letting her escape.

Fortunately for us, it didn’t seem like she wanted to, or maybe she couldn’t for some reason. All she did, was getting away, before launching similar attacks to The Great One – beams of telekinetic powers, which we were able to easily avoid.

– Flank! – Druoag yelled at me after a few of those went past us.

I didn’t say anything in response but rather went straight to the action. Going left, while he had no choice, but to go right. As we split a bit, The Great One also send a few attacks her way. Those didn’t seem to work at all. They either missed, got deflected, or slid off the protective bubble she was keeping up around her. The void essence present in the air, and the distance made it too hard to see. Not to mention the uneven terrain, torn to pieces by all the continuous fighting in this battle.

Ixa didn’t really know whom she should follow with her attacks, so she send a few in my direction as well as in Druoag’s, but she stopped, as those beams were clearly ineffective.

The action got paused, as our quarrel turned more into a chance. Despite our efforts, her speed was greater, and even when we were approaching her from different directions and angles, she was able to maneuver well enough to keep escaping us, and slowly increasing the distance.

I blasted her with ‘Void burst’ but it missed, decimating the outer shell of the planet even further. This didn’t mean that I stopped. No, I continued sporadically, hoping to at least slow her down, which actually worked, so the next part of our race was accompanied by the loud sounds of the condensed void essence, ripping through the solid stone.

For a moment, we all lost track of The Great One, whose whereabouts at that point were unknown to us. His attacks stopped, and he was nowhere to be seen. Frankly speaking – or writing – none of us actually had the time to think about him. We had too much on our plates with what was going on in front of us.

This changed, as he suddenly appeared in front of Ixa, blocking her path with a powerful and destructive telekinetic wave, decimating everything on its way. She pierced through it with her attack, but to do so, she was forced to stop, and that enabled us to catch up to her.

Druoag was a moment faster than me. He landed on her bubble, grabbed it using his whole body, and then began slamming it with one of his hands. She shoved him off and slammed him to the ground, making an opening I could only dream about before. I seized the moment, aiming straight to take her life with a powerful punch.

I was able to reach her, and pierce through the protective barrier, forcing her to switch her focus from my massive alien friend to me, in a desperate attempt to protect herself.

Screaming out loud, she used tremendous power, stronger than before, to stop me, but I was ready for it. I just opened a path for my left hand to strike her from a different direction.

It touched her, but as her battle cry continued she pushed both hands away, forcing my body to curl up into a ball.

Then she tore me to pieces and dropped the corpse…

Or at least I bet that’s what she thought.

Dreadnought skillset kicked in, keeping me alive despite the wounds. As long as my brain was able to function I could bring myself back using the ‘Grand Hierophant’ healing powers. Still, my body slammed into the ground.

I survived, but the situation up above was dire as the fury of the High Queen only grew in strength.
