Chapter 328: Lure Them In, Then Seal the Door!
Chapter 328: Chapter 328: Lure Them In, Then Seal the Door!
“36 star. That’s a qualified Saint, commoner grade. They can survive safely in the deep part of the Lost World.”
“48 star. That’s a top-tier Saint, noble grade. Only they have a chance to touch the Demigod stage.”
“Only a Saint who breaks through with 48 star or more can hold a Divine Shard and set the rules.”
“So, by that logic, the strongest humans back home are no more than basic soldiers there!”
The Flesh Temple Lord quickly chimed in, adding proof: “Pinocchini once sent 18 Saints to invade the 53rd Forbidden Zone.”
“We only sent two 48-star Saints. They killed half the enemy forces, and the other half barely escaped back, all severely wounded.”
“This proves their 28-star Saints are no match at all.”
Black Blade stepped forward. He radiated the arrogant aura of a 48-star Saint, his eyes filled with bloodthirsty rage. “Princess, you are too cautious,” he said, volunteering for the fight.
“I offer to lead 5,000 vanguard troops and 300 Saints. We will sweep across the World Tree and Pinocchini!”
Upon hearing this, Violet immediately shot back, her voice urgent. “The enemy must have Saint-stage power or higher to capture the Shadow Walker.”
“If you act so carelessly and rashly, you will only fall into their trap!”
The Shadow Council’s chairman raised his hand to cut off their argument. “Enough.”
“Send 100,000 troops in three columns. Black Blade will lead the vanguard.”
“Violet, you will accompany the army to oversee the mission, while the main force follows behind.”
“Ensure we establish a forward base on the territory of the Pure World.”
“Use the Rule Power of the World Tree to fill the gap in our own world’s rules.”
Meanwhile, the Warhammer, whose mind had been shattered by the Soul-Searching Technique, was completely broken.
Foam gathered at his mouth, his eyes glazing over, as if he were a lifeless puppet.
Black slowly came back to consciousness.
He had just heard the claim that [28 star Saints are just basic soldiers].
Black’s face turned the color of death. The last spark of hope in his eyes was extinguished.
Only now did he truly realize that the gap in power between Pinocchini and the Lost World was this vast.
Violet turned and left the Blood Tent.
She immediately gathered her personal guard and issued an order.
“Maintain a tight alert formation. Do not scatter.”
“Watch out for any movement nearby. Do not leave the group without permission.”
…
At dawn the next day.
Outside the main camp of the allied forces.
Black Blade stood at the very front of the army formation, coldly staring down at the 5,000 vanguard troops before him.
Suddenly, he raised his blood-red blade. His hoarse voice carried across the whole army.
“Move out! Target: World Tree!”
The formation roared to life, marching deep into the canyon.
Violet led a force of 1,000 personal guards right behind them.
Every member of her guard was a Saint of 36 star or higher.
They were clad in matching amethyst battle armor, their formation tight and disciplined.
Violet urged her Nightmare warhorse forward, catching up to Black Blade. Her tone was heavy with concern. “Commander of the vanguard, I suggest we keep a tight formation to guard against ambushes.”
“They have captured the Shadow Walker. There must be something wrong with them.”
Black Blade turned back, a mocking sneer curling his lips. “Princess, we are facing ants who treat 28-star power as a precious treasure. Why should we be so careful?”
“Besides, the vanguard army takes orders only from the Sky-Shattering Chieftain. Your advice? I can listen to it, but I will not follow it.”
With that, Black Blade sped up his movement. Leading the vanguard, he surged forward. The formation instantly fell apart into chaos.
Violet’s eyes flashed with coldness as she watched this. Silently, she followed behind the vanguard.
But as they marched, she noticed the cliffs on both sides of the Bone Canyon growing taller and taller.
Thick shadows completely engulfed the road below.
Violet urged her horse to catch up to Black Blade again. Her voice was filled with urgency. “Black Blade, do you know the true value of Pure World territory?”
Black Blade snorted impatiently, not even turning around. “Speak.”
Violet pulled on her reins, stopping her horse. She slowly began to explain. “The Earth Plane is a Pure World. It rejects all rules from the Lost World.”
“Our foreign races must constantly exploit this Pure World’s territory and resources.”
“Only then can we use these resources to fill the gaps in our own world’s rules.”
“Otherwise, our living space will be constantly squeezed out by other planes.”
“This invasion isn’t just about seizing resources. It is about fighting for the survival rights of the 53rd Forbidden Zone.”
“So, please, act with caution!”
Black Blade suddenly stopped. He turned to face Violet.
His impatience was gone, replaced by even greater arrogance. “Princess, that is exactly why I must finish this quickly.”
“If we seize the World Tree and steal its Life Essence, our race can survive for a thousand more years.”
“If you are afraid, you can stay in the rear.”
With those words, Black Blade turned again. He led the vanguard, charging wildly. They rushed across the end of the Bone Canyon in a disorganized mess.
Suddenly, a small enemy force appeared ahead—about five hundred men.
Taliban stood at the front, still smelling of gunpowder from recent battle.
Seeing the charging vanguard, panic flashed across his face.
Taliban shouted loudly: “Retreat! Get out of here fast!”
He ordered his troops to pretend to retreat. They turned and ran.
As they fled, they dropped open boxes of S-level crystals.
The glowing blue crystals scattered across the ground, shining brilliantly in the morning light.
Black Blade’s eyes lit up instantly. Greed swirled in his gaze.
“Chase them! Don’t let them escape!” he roared.
Violet’s face turned pale. She hurriedly urged her horse to block Black Blade’s path.
“Fear not the fleeing wolf,” Violet shouted urgently. “The enemy ahead must be an ambush!”
Black Blade let out a cold laugh. Suddenly, his bone wings spread wide, and he flew right over Violet’s head.
His voice drifted back, dripping with mockery: “Princess, did the wealth of these humans scare you?”
“Warriors! Follow me! Kill all these cowardly bugs!”
The vanguard exploded into a frenzy. Like madmen, they charged forward.
They followed Taliban’s retreat, rushing into the basin surrounding the World Tree.
The sight before them froze everyone who entered.
Mountains of S-level crystals sparkled with a deep blue glow in the sun.
Fields of ten-thousand-year spirit herbs swayed in the wind, filling the air with their scent.
The city walls, built by black ant secretions, were tall and strong, yet the gates stood wide open.
Nearby warehouses had their doors flung open, packed full of rare resources.
The three hundred 28-star Saint-stage officers instantly broke their formation.
They charged at the crystal piles like madmen, shoving handfuls into their pockets.
Two even drew their weapons, fighting each other over a single thousand-year Blood Ginseng.
Fights were about to break out among them.
Instead of stopping them, Black Blade threw his head back and laughed maniacally.
“Seize it! Everything here is ours!”
“These Pure World resources can push us all to 36-star!”
Warriors from the Ancient Beast Clan, flesh puppets, and shadow assassins scattered instantly.
They went wild, frantically exploiting the resources before them, and their formation collapsed completely.
Some clung tightly to crystals, while others greedily devoured the thousand-year herbs.
The entire basin was filled with scattered enemies, with not a trace of a battle formation left.
Violet stared at the scene, her face turning pale.
She screamed at her scattered personal guards, “Gather! Keep the battle formation!”
But no one obeyed.
Even the guards who followed her were drawn to the wealth before them.
Their eyes wandered, and their grip on their weapons began to loosen.
Black Blade rushed into the largest warehouse himself.
Grabbing a handful of S-level crystals, he let out a crazed laugh. “What tactics do we need when the lambs are this wealthy? Just slaughter them!”
Suddenly, Violet felt something was wrong.
She instinctively activated her ability, trying to use Shadow Stealth. But as soon as she released her power, it hit an invisible barrier.
The space coordinates were distorted. She couldn’t blend into the shadows at all.
Realizing the truth, Violet’s face drained of all color. She finally understood.
It was a trap!
“Retreat! Everyone retreat immediately! It’s a trap!” she screamed.
Black Blade turned back, looking at the panicked Violet with a mocking sneer. “Princess, did the wealth of humans scare you?”
Above, several shadow crows glided silently through the sky.
At the Dawn City command center, Fischl sat at her console.
Using the crows’ vision, she streamed the real-time view of the basin back to the center.
Hiyua looked at the monitors, seeing the enemy formation completely broken. She turned to Logan.
“Brother, shall we act?”
Logan shook his head, his eyes still fixed on the screen. “Wait. Let them send their main force into the trap.”
Just then, Green Vine rushed in, looking serious. “Lord Logan, the enemy’s main force of 100,000 has fully mobilized.”
“They are approaching the basin’s perimeter quickly.”
Hearing this, a cold smile formed on Logan’s lips. He gave an immediate order: “Keep the Blood Cultivation Realm closed. Let the vanguard go deeper.”
“Make sure we lure the entire enemy force into the basin.”
Up on a high watchtower, Natalia smiled coldly.
She slowly spread her hands, and her Web Domain expanded silently.
Countless black threads, covering the ground and the sky, blanketed the entire basin in an instant.
Every enemy entering the basin was precisely marked by these threads.
There were no blind spots for monitoring.
Back in the basin, seeing that Black Blade wouldn’t listen to her, Violet tried to order her guards to withdraw.
But Black Blade intercepted her with his troops.
He held his blood-red blade across his chest, his eyes full of killing intent.
“Princess,” Black Blade said, “if you continue to disrupt the morale of the army, don’t blame me for disrespect.”
In an instant, Violet drew her sword, pointing the tip straight at Black Blade’s throat. “By the authority of the Ancient Beast Clan Princess, I order you to rally your troops immediately!”
Steel clashed against steel as they locked into a fierce standoff.
Just then, the ground outside the basin began to tremble with deafening footsteps.
