Ancient Woman Transmigrates to the Body of a Modern Man
Chapter 32: He don’t know why he cares so much
Hou Yizhen had initially planned to spend the entire weekend in Beigou Village. Unexpectedly, this farce had occurred, leaving his pride badly wounded. The arrogant, chauvinistic man could no longer bring himself to stay another moment.
The servants could sense their master’s foul mood from his dark expression and were all walking on eggshells, completely on tenterhooks.
Even Housekeeper Yang was caught off guard.
When he had visited the room earlier, Master Hou had still seemed to be in a relatively good mood. Now, however, he looked as though he had just suffered some terrible misfortune.
Could something have happened between him and Young Master Lin Feng?
Did they fight?
Despite his suspicions, Housekeeper Yang remained professional. He promptly arranged everything for Master Hou’s departure, ensuring that nothing would be delayed.
By eight in the morning, Hou Yizhen was already dressed and ready to leave.
Housekeeper Yang was preparing to escort him outside, followed by the servants and bodyguards who would see their master off.
However, just as they were about to leave, Hou Yizhen suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Thinking that their master had something to instruct them, everyone quietly lowered their heads and waited.
"...."
"...."
Several seconds passed, yet the man remained silent.
The servants secretly exchanged confused glances.
Eventually, Housekeeper Yang had to break the silence.
"Master Hou, is there something you’ve forgotten to tell us? Do you have any further instructions?"
"....Haaa."
Hou Yizhen let out a long, frustrated sigh and roughly raked a hand through his already disheveled hair.
He abruptly turned around and strode back inside, heading towards the hallway that led to his bedroom.
However, before he could reach it, the tall man stopped again.
"Damn it!"
The sudden outburst startled the servants. The bodyguards immediately lowered their heads, silently lamenting that their bad-tempered boss was throwing yet another tantrum.
’We best keep our heads down.’
’Otherwise, we’ll be the ones caught in the crossfire.’
After exchanging telepathic glances, everyone acted as if they were mute and blind.
Hou Yizhen stared in the direction of the master’s bedroom.
The boy inside had yet to come out, not even to see him off.
Was Lin Feng really going to ignore him like this?
After taking a deep breath, he finally gestured towards Housekeeper Yang.
"Go tell that boy that I’m leaving."
"...."
Housekeeper Yang paused briefly before bowing.
"Yes, Master Hou."
---
Inside the room, Lin Feng was still buried in his thoughts when a knock suddenly sounded at the door, pulling him back to his senses.
Only then did Lin Feng realize that his cheeks were wet with tears.
He hurriedly wiped his face and checked his reflection in the mirror. To his dismay, his eyes were still noticeably red, and the tip of his nose remained pink. Anyone who saw him would immediately know that he had been crying.
Another knock sounded from outside.
Lin Feng took a deep breath and braced himself before walking toward the door. After a brief hesitation, he gingerly opened it.
However, instead of the tall, bronze-skinned man he had expected to see, the person standing outside was Housekeeper Yang.
Lin Feng’s expression immediately became awkward. He lowered his head, unable to hide the shame in his eyes.
"Uncle Yang," he whispered.
"Young Master Lin Feng...."
Housekeeper Yang looked at the young man in front of him, his gaze lingering briefly on Lin Feng’s reddened eyes.
’So they really did fight.’
Housekeeper Yang’s expression remained as composed as ever. He showed no trace of dissatisfaction or disappointment in front of Lin Feng.
"Young Master Lin, Master Hou is about to leave Beigou Village. Would you like to come down and see him off?"
"He still hasn’t left?" The boy accidentally blurted out.
".... Not yet, young master."
Realizing his mistake, Lin Feng’s face immediately flushed red.
He had thought Hou Yizhen had already left.
After the man had stormed out of the room earlier, Lin Feng had assumed that he would immediately leave the house and return to Beijing. Yet, unexpectedly, more than an hour had already passed, and Hou Yizhen was still here.
Lin Feng opened his mouth, about to say that he would go downstairs, but then he suddenly looked down at himself.
He was still wearing the same robe from earlier. He couldn’t possibly go downstairs dressed like this.
"I’ll change first!"
He hurriedly closed the door and changed his clothes before following Housekeeper Yang downstairs, his mind still in turmoil.
Lin Feng hadn’t even figured out what he was going to say.
By the time they reached the main hall, however, he no longer had the chance to think about it.
His amber eyes met a pair of dark eyes.
Hou Yizhen stood in the middle of the room, his tall figure exuding an intimidating presence. His dark gaze fell on Lin Feng, with his chin tilted high, cold and displeased.
For a moment, the entire room fell silent.
Neither of them spoke.
The servants sensed an unusual atmosphere and naturally did not dare to speak.
Hou Yizhen had initially been waiting for Lin Feng to show some initiative. Perhaps, after having some time to think, the boy would change his mind. Even if he didn’t, Hou Yizhen had still expected him to say something.
But Lin Feng only stood there quietly, his amber eyes meeting Hou Yizhen’s for a brief moment before lowering again.
The silence stretched on.
Whatever expectation Hou Yizhen had been holding onto slowly faded. A faint sense of disappointment settled in his chest, leaving him inexplicably irritated.
He couldn’t even understand why he cared so much.
Hadn’t he already given the boy more than an hour to think things through?
Yet, judging from Lin Feng’s silence, it seemed that hour had changed nothing.
Hou Yizhen’s expression darkened.
Fine.
Since the boy had made his choice, there was no reason for him to wait any longer.
Hou Yizhen had never realized that he could be this patient.
Normally, he wouldn’t give anyone even this much of a chance. Yet he had waited for Lin Feng, giving the boy more than enough time to think things through.
And the boy had simply wasted it.
"I’m leaving now. I’ll come back in two weeks," Hou Yizhen said curtly.
Lin Feng raised his head again. The soft amber eyes that tickled at Hou Yizhen’s chest showed both gentleness and reluctance. "Please be careful on your way, Uncle Hou."
For a moment, Hou Yizhen almost wanted to crack the boy’s head open and see what was going on inside.
How could someone be so difficult to understand?
But when he looked at Lin Feng’s gentle and somewhat pitiful appearance, his anger once again faltered.
