Bai Tingyu: ...

He knew. He must have noticed the connection when he saved Xiao Feng.

He had simply assumed that the person who had saved Lin Feng was Hou Yizhen.

Lin Feng, who was still completely unaware of what had happened: ???

Why did he feel that something was off?

From their earlier conversation, Lin Feng could tell that something significant must have happened during the banquet. He just didn’t know what it was.

He pursed his lips. He wanted to stay and find out, but after realizing that the surveillance footage might involve the Wei family’s secrets, he had no choice but to wait outside the security room with his uncle.

Inside the security room, Wei Tianyu had initially been curious about what Hou Yizhen was trying so hard to keep from others.

However, the moment the footage from the back garden appeared on the screen, his eyes widened in shock.

He replayed it several times before finally accepting what he had just witnessed.

After a long silence, Wei Tianyu finally found his voice.

"No wonder you don’t want anyone else to know. This... this is simply too unbelievable, isn’t it?"

As he spoke, he suddenly recalled the first time he had met Lin Feng.

Under the moonlight, the boy had been bathed in a soft glow, looking especially gentle and serene. Several butterflies had fluttered around him, as if he were a fairy or spirit who had innocently wandered into the mortal world.

Wei Tianyu’s heart began to race.

He lowered his eyes, concealing the thoughts that had suddenly surfaced in his mind.

Hou Yizhen remained silent. Instead, he reached out and dragged the progress bar back.

His attention was focused on something entirely different.

He watched the figure appearing behind Lin Feng again and again.

It was the same waiter who had spilled wine on Lin Feng earlier. He was also the one who had led Lin Feng toward the back of the mansion.

Hou Yizhen’s brows gradually furrowed.

"Is this person really a servant of your household?"

Wei Tianyu finally pulled himself together and followed Hou Yizhen’s gaze toward the screen.

He forced himself to calm down.

The Wei family’s main residence was enormous, with countless servants responsible for its daily affairs. Naturally, he couldn’t possibly recognize every single one of them.

"I’ll have it checked."

He took out his phone and contacted the mansion’s head butler.

Not long afterward, the head butler arrived outside the security room.

Bai Tingyu could only watch anxiously as the butler entered. He began pacing back and forth, unable to settle down.

Hou Yizhen and Wei Tianyu must have realized that what had happened to Lin Feng was connected to the animals’ sudden, unusual behavior.

After all, judging from what Lin Feng had told him, the connection was rather obvious.

A short while later, the head butler emerged, followed by Hou Yizhen and Wei Tianyu.

Bai Tingyu immediately straightened his back.

Although he tried to maintain his composure, the nervousness on his face was unmistakable. His gaze remained fixed on Hou Yizhen.

Wei Tianyu spoke first.

"I’m sorry this happened to you in the Wei family’s main residence."

His gaze fell on the frail-looking boy standing before him.

He couldn’t help recalling the dangerous scene captured by the surveillance camera. Lin Feng had fallen from the second floor. If he had landed just a little farther away, he might not have survived.

And this had happened right inside the Wei family’s main residence.

As the hosts, they naturally bore some responsibility for the safety of their guests.

"We’ve already identified the person responsible. I’ve instructed the butler to locate the servant and have him questioned."

Only then did Lin Feng’s tense shoulders relax slightly. A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Thank you."

He bowed his head slightly.

"It is my duty," Wei Tianyu replied politely.

At this point, Bai Tingyu finally gathered the courage to speak.

"Young Master Wei, Mr. Hou, would it be possible for me to speak with the two of you in private?"

Lin Feng paused and looked at his uncle.

He didn’t say anything, simply watching the three men before him.

Hou Yizhen shook his head.

"There is no need."

After a brief pause, he added, "The footage from the back garden has been deleted."

Bai Tingyu: ...

As expected, he knew!

He glanced at Wei Tianyu, whose face still wore the same gentle smile. He couldn’t tell whether the young master of the Wei family had also figured it out.

After all, they had both watched the footage. If two intelligent men like them still couldn’t connect the dots, Bai Tingyu might as well turn his name around and write it backwards.

Fortunately, at least Hou Yizhen was deliberately keeping the matter hidden.

That alone was enough to put Bai Tingyu’s mind at ease. At least the secret wouldn’t spread within the Wei family.

Unfortunately, his relief didn’t last long.

The head butler soon returned with bad news.

The servant was nowhere to be found, and there was no record of anyone matching his description among the mansion’s registered staff.

The situation had become even more complicated.

Someone had managed to infiltrate the Wei family’s main residence!

The butler also brought another piece of news. Several guests had insisted on leaving, and the Wei family had been unable to persuade them to stay. They could only arrange to see them off one by one.

These guests were all influential figures. The Wei family could certainly try to persuade them to stay a little longer, but if they were determined to leave, there was no way they could stop them. Doing so would only offend the entire upper-class circle in the capital.

Bai Tingyu couldn’t help feeling disappointed.

"Most likely, the person who infiltrated the mansion and pushed my nephew into the pond has already taken advantage of the chaos to escape."

Lin Feng sighed.

"Doesn’t that mean we’ve lost the trail?"

Wei Tianyu reassured him in a gentle tone.

"Don’t worry. Everyone leaves traces sooner or later. We’ll continue investigating. Once we find anything, we’ll inform you immediately."

Bai Tingyu and Lin Feng could only nod.
