Ancient Woman Transmigrates to the Body of a Modern Man

Chapter 112: Possession is just too unbelievable

  • Next Chapter

It almost sounded like possession.

Preposterous!

Yet when Grandpa Bai thought back on how his grandson had behaved in the past and how he acted now, he couldn’t deny that there were considerable differences. But given everything his grandson had experienced, wasn’t it only natural for him to change so drastically?

Still, some of those changes... They didn’t seem to have much to do with his traumatic experiences. He had even turned gay!

Could it be that the soul possessing his grandson was the one who was gay?

No matter how superstitious Grandpa Bai was, even he found the thought utterly ridiculous.

Bai Tingyu was equally unconvinced.

He glared at his wife again. "Have you ever considered that perhaps Xiao Feng used to suppress his true self because of Lin Dong’s oppression? Then, after experiencing several traumatic events and even narrowly escaping death, he finally realized that he should embrace who he really was instead of continuing to hide his true personality?"

Grandpa Bai seized on this explanation, and his expression finally relaxed.

"Indeed. Possession is just too unbelievable."

Wei Ranmiao, however, was still somewhat doubtful. She had only begun entertaining such suspicions because she had spent considerable time with Lin Feng recently and had closely observed his behavior and mannerisms. There were many aspects of him that made her feel that he was a different person entirely.

What puzzled her most was how he had suddenly become so proficient in traditional music when he had previously excelled at Western classical piano.

However, seeing how strongly the two men opposed her suggestion, Wei Ranmiao decided not to voice any more of her suspicions.

After all, she had no actual evidence. People often wore masks in their daily lives, and they hadn’t really spent much time with their introverted nephew before. What if her husband’s explanation was the truth?

"Yes, it’s just too unrealistic." She sighed, finally letting the matter go. "I think I might have watched too many dramas. I’ve spent quite a bit of time observing him recently, and I can see that he’s softhearted, filial, and genuinely kind. He even went to the trouble of making us this soup."

This was precisely why she had hesitated to bring up her suspicions in the first place. Now that she had voiced them, she couldn’t help regretting it.

What if her father-in-law thought she was deliberately sowing discord within the family?

Grandpa Bai noticed her expression and immediately understood what she was thinking.

His daughter-in-law usually appeared dignified and knew how to conduct herself in front of others. Within the family, however, she was much more straightforward and never bothered hiding her thoughts. Grandpa Bai actually appreciated this trait of hers. At least with her, he never had to wonder what schemes she might be plotting.

The family was harmonious precisely because they were so open with one another, so Grandpa Bai didn’t hold her earlier remarks against her.

In fact, it was better that she had brought up her suspicions now. At least they could clear up such an absurd misunderstanding before it went any further.

But...

"But it is true that Xiao Feng never used to show any unusual affinity for animals and plants. If he had this kind of ability before, Yufei would have mentioned it."

"Dad." Bai Tingyu looked at him helplessly.

"I only said he didn’t have that ability before." Grandpa Bai had already returned to his usual composure. "If I’m not mistaken, his experiences in the mountains near the Tibetan Plateau must have been quite extraordinary."

"Regardless of what abilities he has now, he’s still part of the Bai family." Bai Tingyu’s tone was firm. "Dad, this must be Feifei’s blessing. Xiao Feng is a filial boy. She must have been protecting him all this time, which is why he was able to return to us safe and sound."

Wei Ranmiao felt even guiltier.

"Then let’s just forget what I said. Perhaps it really is Feifei’s blessing. Small animals tend to gravitate toward people with pure hearts. I was careless and spoke too much. Dad, please don’t take your daughter-in-law’s earlier words to heart."

That night, the old man stood on the balcony of the master bedroom for a long time, gazing down at the small garden below.

Even under the dim moonlight, he could still see how beautiful it was.

His daughter, Feifei, had always loved this garden. When she was still alive, she had taken great care of every plant and flower in it. The garden had always held many memories of her, making the garden especially vibrant and lush in his memories. Yet, somehow, it seemed even more vibrant now than he could remember it ever being.

’Feifei, these must be your blessings, right?’

The night was silent. The wind blew gently through the leaves, carrying with it the hesitation and doubts lingering in people’s hearts.

At that moment, the boy, still blissfully unaware that his cover was about to be blown, was lying on his bed with his phone in hand. His eyes were fixed on a certain name in his contact list, his finger hovering indecisively over the call button.

Out of respect for his grandfather’s wishes, Lin Feng had managed to resist the urge to call that man. But he really wanted to know whether the man would be coming tomorrow.

What if he suddenly got busy and couldn’t make it?

His finger lingered over the call button for a long time. In the end, however, he managed to suppress his strong urge to hear the man’s voice. He was just about to throw himself onto the bed when he suddenly remembered the white moisturizing facial mask still covering his face.

’Just hold on until tomorrow. You’ll get to see him then.’

’But what if he doesn’t come?’

Biting his lip, Lin Feng eventually gave in. He picked up his phone again and typed out a message.

[Tomorrow, I’ll be attending the birthday party with my aunt, uncle, and cousin.]
