Chapter 1702: Part 1: Diverting the creatures to the special battlefield

Special Battlefield

On the battlefield, I continued to hunt down the foreign creatures. But I did not come across the second-ranked elite creature called Jelloth. I didn’t want the Jelloth to enter the main battlefield.

I hoped they were brought here. Just as I was exploring the wilderness, I heard a sound coming from ahead. Hearing that, I raised my eyebrows. The next second, I vanished from the spot.

Swoosh!

In the blink of an eye, I reached the area. Then I saw someone who appeared human. But I was sure that it was not human. It was a foreign creature. And it was the third-ranked elite, the humanoid creature.

Upon sensing my presence, the creature turned toward me. Taking in its appearance, it looked exactly like a human, except its head was completely bald.

It had human-shaped arms and legs. The humanoid creature charged at me right away. I could tell the dark origin power inside the creature was welling up within its body.

Seeing that, I decided to fight using only one of my inheritance powers. I wanted to gain combat experience; otherwise, I would get bored.

Boom!

Right then, I began to circulate the lightning power inheritance. The lightning power projected outward; arcs of electricity covered my body like spiderwebs, edged with crimson borders.

As the humanoid creature closed in, it raised a fist to punch forward.

Boom!

My right hand snapped out. In a flash, fist met fist. Purple lightning enveloped my hand, and in the next second, the electrical power surged forth.

It slammed into the humanoid creature’s hand as the lightning power tried to overwhelm the dark origin power. Both forces clashed on equal ground. Right then, a blast erupted.

Boom!

The shockwave sent both of us skidding backward. Once a bit of distance opened between us, I turned toward the creature and raised my eyebrows.

The dark origin power of the creature was extraordinary; it could actually rival my lightning power. Yet I knew my lightning was far from ordinary, having been enhanced by the lightning sprout.

Still, the attack wasn’t able to overpower the dark origin energy. It proved the strength of an elite creature.

If even I faced such difficulty, what about the other Red Mark Warriors? They wouldn’t stand a chance against a top-ranked elite creature.

As time passed, I continued to clash with the humanoid creature. At first, it was merely testing me, but it didn’t take long for it to get serious.

The creature’s attacks grew faster. Last time, I had killed one quickly, but this time I had the luxury to study it. I blocked its strikes one by one.

Boom!

We were forced apart once more after another detonation. I kept my eyes fixed on the creature, my gaze dropping to its hands. The lightning power had indeed damaged them.

Yet the creature was able to regenerate using its dark origin power. Seeing that, I was not surprised. The last time I faced a similar creature, it relied on its healing abilities right up until the end.

Eventually, it had died after exhausting all of its dark origin power. I didn’t want this one to go down the exact same way, I wanted to draw out and understand all of its abilities first.

Time passed.

We clashed again as the close combat intensified. I managed to land a couple of strikes on the creature’s body, yet it absorbed the impact.

It was relying on its self-healing ability once more, while none of its attacks managed to land on me. I successfully deflected every strike.

Boom!

I could easily read its attack trajectories. Switching things up, I began integrating elbow and leg strikes. It was the first time I had tested this fighting style against a foreign creature.

Every blow struck home, forcing the humanoid creature to continuously expend its dark origin power. It began to realize that defeating this human was no simple task.

Despite combining its speed and dark origin power, it couldn’t inflict any damage. Worse, the creature could sense an even more terrifying power dormant inside the human’s body.

It realized that if the human truly wanted to, he could end its life in an instant, yet he was casually toying with it, enjoying the fight.

"What’s your name?" the humanoid creature suddenly asked.

Surprised, I hadn’t expected it to speak to me, but I decided to answer.

"My name is Zack Lockwood," I replied.

Swoosh!

The creature immediately retreated several paces, the name ringing a loud bell in its mind.

"Zack Lockwood!"

"You are at the top of the kill list," the humanoid creature snarled.

It finally recognized the human before it: the famous human genius warrior known throughout the dark planets. Everyone wanted him dead, especially the elite creatures.

Even their Quasi-Gods had issued absolute kill orders. Having made up its mind, the humanoid creature began to destabilize its dark origin power to self-destruct.

Boom!

At that moment, my sense of danger flared wildly. Realizing what it had decided to do, I abruptly shot backward.

Swoosh!

In a flash, I put fifty meters between us.

Boom!

Right then, the humanoid creature detonated. The shockwave expanded outward with a deafening roar.

The force slammed into me, but I braced and withstood the blast, getting pushed back beyond a hundred meters. As the dust spread, the sheer scale of the explosion became apparent.

When the aftermath finally settled, I looked down at the point of detonation. A massive crater had formed from the sheer destructive force, spanning at least a hundred meters across.

If this creature had detonated inside the main battlefield, the blast would have caused catastrophic casualties.

Outside

The council elders had divided their duties: some were overseeing the main battlefield, while others kept watch over the special battlefield.

One hour ago,

Elder Freya was monitoring the special battlefield alongside the elders of the Star University. They were not stationed in the United City, but rather gathered just outside the barrier of the special battlefield.
