NICHOLAS’S POV

The next afternoon, I was still in my room, lying on my bed and staring at the ceiling while trying to come down from the high of last night.

The night has passed with all of us getting no sleep. Their bodies moved against mine so seamlessly, until I forgot where one person started and where the other ended.

They took me apart until I was a mess — sobbing, trembling and begging for me as they quenched my desires over and over.

Even now as I lay in bed, all I could think about was the thick girth of their cocks as they pounded into me, their hands roaming all over my body, their breaths tickling my skin as I came over and over again.

Ugh.

The symptoms of last night still continued till this morning and by the time I finally got some rest, I felt completely drained. I shifted beneath the blankets, trying to find a position that didn’t make the discomfort worse, but the pain returned again, forcing me to curl onto my side and pull my knees closer to myself.

This wasn’t anything like how I felt usually during my heat cycle. I had just satisfied the lust in me mere hours ago. How was it possible that I suddenly wanted to be fucked again? And how long could I keep this up? The worst part was that I didn’t even know how serious it was.

I remained curled up on the bed when the door opened and the brothers walked into the room, looking refreshed after the events of the previous night which was a sharp contrast at to my disheveled look.

Adrian was the first to look directly at me, and his expression immediately changed when he saw how tightly I was holding myself. "Nicholas, how are you feeling?" he asked as he approached the bed, his voice quieter than usual.

"I don’t know," I admitted, swallowing as another wave of discomfort passed through me. "I thought it would be better by now, but it keeps coming back."

Cassian moved closer to the other side of the bed. "You’ve barely moved from here since we left."

"I would rather not." I managed quickly.

Roman folded his arms, watching me carefully. "And you’ve been looking worse every time we’ve checked on you."

That made my stomach twist.

"What if something is wrong with me?" I asked, my voice dropping as I looked between them. "What if the heat accelerant did more than we thought?"

Adrian didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pulled out his phone.

"What are you doing?" I asked nervously.

"Calling a doctor." He muttered under his breath.

I immediately pushed myself up slightly. "A doctor?"

"Yes."

"But—" I started.

"No arguing," Adrian said firmly, already making the call. "We’re going to find out what’s happening instead of sitting here wondering why you’re all like this."

I lowered myself back onto the mattress, pulling the blanket closer as I watched him speak to the doctor. I had already known the heat accelerant was likely dangerous and would take a while to fully fade away, but hearing Adrian arrange for a doctor to come and examine me made it feel much more serious.

Elijah sat beside me and noticed how tense I was. "You’re worrying too much."

I looked at him. "How am I supposed not to worry?"

"Because you’re still very much conscious, and all of us are here with you," he said, trying to make me relax. "No one has diagnosed you yet, Nicholas. Stop assuming the worst."

That was easier said than done.

"But I may not be wrong, you know?" I told him.

Elijah gave me a small smile. "Maybe. But fir now, you’re not right either."

I frowned at him.

"You’re too worried," he added, lightly tapping the blanket near my arm. "You worry too much, goddess, Nicholas. If someone coughs, you’re convinced they’re dying. If someone doesn’t answer their phone, you think something terrible happened. Now I can’t even imagine what’s going on in that pretty head of yours."

That earned a scoff from me and I looked away from him.

But he was right.

Adrian ended the call and slipped his phone into his pocket. "The doctor is on his way."

I nodded, but the nervous feeling in my stomach didn’t disappear.

About half an hour later, there was a knock at the door. Adrian opened it and allowed the doctor inside. He was carrying a medical bag and immediately introduced himself before approaching the bed. The brothers stayed nearby while he checked my pulse and asked me several questions about how I had been feeling since the previous day.

"When did the pain become worse?" he asked.

"Last night."

He nodded, watching me quietly. "And you’ve been experiencing the heat symptoms continuously?"

I nodded.

"Any dizziness?"

"Sometimes." I admitted, my throat suddenly feeling dry.

He seemed to file that away in his head. "Weakness?"

"Yes." I nodded.

He continued asking questions while checking my condition, and I answered as honestly as I could. I was embarrassed by how much I had to admit, but I knew there was no point hiding anything from the person who was supposed to figure out what was wrong with me.

After examining me for several minutes, the doctor straightened and looked toward Adrian.

"What is it?" Adrian asked.

The doctor remained serious. "The symptoms you’re experiencing are connected to the heat accelerant."

My chest tightened.

"What about it?" Roman asked.

"The substance that was administered to him contained a poison that has affected his system more severely than we initially realized. The effects are becoming more noticeable now because his body is under additional strain."

I stared at him. Oh.

"Is he going to be okay?" Cassian asked immediately.

"He should be," the doctor replied. "But the poison has significantly weakened his wolf."

I looked down at my hands. "My wolf?"

"Yes. That’s why you’re feeling so weak and unable to recover normally. Your body is trying to deal with the effects of the substance while also going through the heat cycle. Those two things together are putting considerable strain on you."

Adrian’s expression hardened. "Can you remove the poison?"

The doctor shook his head. "There is no specific cure for this particular substance. His body will have to process it naturally."

Roman stepped forward. "So what are we supposed to do?"

"Monitor him. Make sure he gets enough rest and fluids, and don’t leave him unattended if his condition worsens. Most importantly, he needs to get through the cycle. Once it ends, the symptoms caused by the heat should begin to settle, and his body can focus more fully on recovering from the poison." The doctor explained, making sure his words sank in.

"How long?" Adrian asked.

The doctor shook his head slightly. "I can’t give you an exact amount of time. Every person’s body reacts differently. But the important thing is that he isn’t showing signs of immediate danger."

I finally looked up. "So there’s nothing I can take?"

"Not to instantly clear the poison," he said. "Your body has to eliminate it on its own."

I didn’t like that answer. "So I just have to wait?"

"For now, yes."

Elijah moved closer to the bed. "And his wolf?"

The man paused, looking skeptical. "It may remain weak for some time, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the damage is permanent. Once the substance leaves his system, his wolf should have an opportunity to recover."

Adrian nodded slowly, absorbing every word. "Okay, what if he gets worse?"

The doctor turned to him. "Call me immediately. If he develops severe symptoms, don’t wait."

The doctor gathered his equipment and prepared to leave. Adrian thanked him, and the doctor headed toward the door while the rest of us remained quiet.

I watched him leave, but before he could step fully into the hallway, Adrian followed him.

I couldn’t hear everything they said from the bed, but I heard Adrian’s voice become low and threatening. "You were never here."

The doctor paused and Adrian stepped closer. "You don’t tell anyone that you came to this penthouse. You don’t tell anyone what you saw, what you were told, or who you treated."

The doctor looked nervous. "I understand."

Adrian’s expression didn’t change. "Good. Because if I hear that you mentioned this visit to anyone, I’ll find out."

The doctor nodded quickly.

Adrian continued, his voice cold. "And when I find out, you’ll have a much bigger problem than losing your medical license."

The doctor swallowed. "I understand."

"Then leave."

The door closed a moment later. Adrian returned to the room and found all of us looking at him.

Elijah raised an eyebrow. "You scared the poor man."

"He’ll keep his mouth shut," Adrian replied.

Cassian shook his head slightly. "You could have just told him it was confidential."

"Yeah well, I’m sure my words were enough to tell him that."

I stared at him from the bed, still trying to process what the doctor had said. The poison was still inside me and my wolf was weakened. There was no medicine that could simply make it disappear.

And I couldn’t do anything except wait.

Something had been left inside my body when Jayden drugged me. And until it was gone, I was going to have to endure it.

Fuck me now.
