Chapter 65: Curious About You
Chapter 65: Curious About You
[Rinten: Of course I am. Are you okay?] She had asked. Katherine was overjoyed that Ray had messaged her on his own volition after so long. She wondered what that meant. If he was not interested in her, he would simply fade away or ghost her, right? But what was this slow creeping into her heart. It had to be something.
[RayKon53: Finally done with the drama. Now I am a free man.] He had written. Katherine mulled over the words before she showed it to her friend.
“Why would he say that?” Lily said with a peculiar expression on her face. Her eyes flickered to the television where Cage’s face was still splattered across the screen with a grim expression.
“Maybe his emergency has finally averted,” she shrugged, not thinking much of it.
“That is some strange timing,” Lily mussed. “What did he say his emergency was?” She gave a pointed look to Katherine. Katherine said the words, remembering every one of them and then blushed. But to her surprise, her friend didn’t catch her on her obsessive behaviour.
“You’re acting strangely,” she said to Lily, but the other remained silent.
“What would you do if you were the one talking to Cage and Angelina was just playing around?” she asked with a curious look. Startled by the question, Katherine looked at her friend in panic.
“I don’t want to talk to Cage. He might be my fantasy, but I don’t want to miss out on a real life opportunity because I couldn’t see past my love for an actor.” She fiddled with her hands.
“And what about RayKon? Isn’t he a fantasy, too? Are you sure he is real?” Lily said with a small smile.
“Of course, he is a living, breathing person,” she gaped.
“And what if he is nothing like he represents himself to be,” Lily asked softly, her curious gaze still on her friend.
“I like him nonetheless. It’s not like we are engaged to be married. I simply enjoy his companionship on the game!” She blushed as she spoke. Surely, Lily knew she was lying. She was falling for this mystery man hard and fast. She was falling for his words and his irrefutable charm.
So what if he was a 600 pound man who lived in his parents basement or had to use a crane to be transported. As long as his words stimulated her, she wouldn’t want anything else from their relationship.
[Rinten: It’s been too long since we spoke. Are you well?] She typed out. Hmm… she was worried. She couldn’t help but imagine the toll these past few months had taken on him.
“Look at the silly expression on your face,” Lily commented with a smile. There was slight worry in her eyes, but the wildly excited Katherine couldn’t see that at the moment.
“I’m talking to him after so long,” she groaned, flashing the other with a look.
“It’s almost like you can’t get off without his words any longer.” Lily paused and then her eyes widened comically when she noticed the guilty expression on her friend’s face. “I was kidding but it’s true!”
“What am I supposed to do? His words and his voice have left me incapable of being stimulated by anything else,” she sighed softly.
“You’re in deep,” Lily muttered. She shook her head and stood up. “I’ll go prepare for tomorrow. I have a shoot to get ready for.”
Katherine hummed and watched her friend go.
[RayKon53: I can’t say I am well, but the situation is getting better. I miss you.] She felt herself melt at the last bit.
‘I missed you, too.’ She found herself thinking.
[Rinten: It will get better now that we are talking again. It has been hell without you.]
‘Does that sound too corny? That’s exactly how I felt, though.’
[RayKon53: All I want is a drink and to wile my time away with you. It’s been a long few months.]
Her heart hurt for him. What must he have been through to say something of the sort? Monitored? Trainer… he suspiciously sounded like an inmate.
Of course, an inmate wouldn’t have access to the internet on such a regular basis… she said to herself.
[Rinten: It’s been long for me, too. Even though I can’t say I was having a hard time, I felt miserable not talking to you. Now that you are back, let’s get a little tipsy and chat all night. Would you be up for that, my kind sir?]
She smiled at the message. She knew for certain that they would end up heating up the conversation.
[RayKon53: Let me get home, love. I can’t afford to be hard in front of people.]
[Rinten: Then give me the green signal when you are home. I will grab some wine and get myself situated in my room.]
On the other side of town, Cage grinned as he read the message. He couldn’t wait to talk to her again.
[RayKon53: What do you do for a living?] He typed out, wanting to know more about her on her own terms. He had gone through her drawings and read through the various conversations she had with her potential clients over her professional page.
He had, though, noticed a little lack of his own face in her feed recently. Instead of his usual face, the muscular figure of a man whose face couldn’t be seen had plagued her art. He had felt elated that her love for his acting did not overshadow the influence his word had on her. She liked ‘him’ and not the personality he put on in front of the television. How many people could say the same about him? Damn, most of the people in the industry only hung out with others for promotional reasons. This was exactly why he had little conversations with others, except for a specific few people, who, no doubt, enjoyed his companionship more than the infamy he brought.
[Rinten: Are you curious about me?] She teased. He quickly let out a reply, not wanting to delay their conversation further.
