Chapter 442: Chapter 443 - Don’t join the campfire, okay?
Voren smiled wide as his eyes slowly drifted around the fancy hotel suite, taking everything in.
Man, this place in the Outlands was the best they had, and it showed in every little detail.
The walls, the ceiling, the furniture, even the tiniest decorations, all of it was made from gorgeous natural wood from all different kinds of trees.
The whole room smelled warm and fresh, like you were standing right in the middle of a peaceful forest, and it wrapped around you in the most comforting way possible.
It felt worlds away from those cold, sleek modern buildings back in New York. A soft smile stayed glued to his lips as another happy thought popped into his head.
"I think we can totally give them that reward once Ravyn’s finally taken down," he said, his eyes locking onto Seraphine’s with pure warmth.
"Do you remember that waterfall out here in the Outlands?"
She gave him a little nod, her own smile starting to form.
"There’s this cute little cabin right nearby." His grin stretched even bigger, full of excitement. "I’ll make sure it’s all set up and ready for them."
Before Seraphine could even get a word out, Marsha was straight-up squealing with joy inside her head. ’That’s exactly why I love him so much!’
Seraphine couldn’t help shaking her head, half-amused and half-exasperated. Sometimes her wolf got just as dramatically over-the-top as Voren did.
Voren caught the look on her face and let out a deep, warm chuckle. "Come on, babe." He reached out and took her hand gently. "Let’s hop in the shower together and then get some real rest. Tomorrow’s gonna be an absolute whirlwind."
His voice was so soft and caring it made her heart flutter. Seraphine’s eyes went wide for a second as her brain immediately took that innocent invitation and ran wild with it in a very steamy direction.
Voren spotted the change in her expression right away, and a playful, teasing smirk spread across his face. "What’s going on inside that brilliant head of yours, huh?" His eyes sparkled with amusement.
"I don’t want you passing out on me again, so... nope. Not tonight." He reached out and gently tapped the tip of her nose. His smile softened into something incredibly tender. "Just a normal shower, then straight to bed. Promise."
Heat flooded Seraphine’s cheeks in a big rush. She still couldn’t believe how fast her mind went there every single time Voren was around.
No matter how heavy or serious things got, he had this effortless way of making her heart pound like crazy without even trying. She looked away, totally embarrassed, while Voren let out a quiet, affectionate laugh.
Like always, he took care of her in the sweetest way possible. He helped wash her hair with the gentlest hands, checking the water temperature over and over to make sure it was perfect.
Every single touch felt like he was handling something priceless and irreplaceable. Every few moments he’d lean in close and press soft kisses to her forehead, her temple, or the corner of her lips. His love never faded, not even for a second.
Desire definitely flashed in his eyes more than once, but he kept himself totally in check. Right now, her comfort came before everything else.
She was carrying their pup, after all, and they still didn’t fully know how her body would handle a pregnancy with a black gifted wolf involved. Until they had more answers, Voren wasn’t taking any chances.
When they finally finished, they climbed into bed together. Safe and warm in his strong arms, Seraphine drifted off to sleep almost instantly, feeling completely loved and protected.
Morning came way faster than either of them wanted. Outside the hotel, the grounds were already alive with energy and movement.
A whole line of luxury SUVs and other fancy vehicles sat ready to carry everyone to the Centenary Pack for the festival, and the snow had already been cleared from the driveways.
People were rushing around, double-checking last-minute details before the big trip.
Humphrey and Kylie took off with the first group, and Jasmine rode along with them. Esperanza happily jumped into the same car, thrilled to spend the next three days playing with all the other Alpha kids at the Centenary Pack.
The older Alphas and Lunas had already worked out a schedule to take turns watching the little ones, giving the younger crowd a chance to really dive into the festival without any worries. It was a tradition pretty much everyone loved.
Not long after, Vladimir and Olivia got ready to head out with the next wave. The second people saw Olivia, a bunch of them instinctively looked away.
Even with all the heavy makeup Vladimir had made her wear, the bruises from the night before were still obvious. The emptiness in her eyes was even harder to miss.
She looked completely shattered, emotionally wrecked in a way that should earn her some pity but sadly, it didn’t.
Ironically, Olivia had actually started missing her abusive husband.
Compared to the nightmare that was Vladimir, her previous marriage almost felt like a mercy.
His level of cruelty was on a whole other planet. His plan for the day was straightforward: meet up with Olivia’s ex-husband and the Alpha of the Seasoned Pack to talk about how to recover Oriana’s remains.
Voren already knew all about it. As they were getting ready to leave, he glanced over at Vladimir. "Dad, I really don’t want to miss the confrontation, and I know—"
Before he could finish, Vladimir shot him a knowing look, already understanding exactly what his son was thinking.
After that group pulled away, Corvine stepped up and started smoothly organizing everyone else.
He calmly assigned vehicles and made sure people knew where they needed to be. Some folks preferred driving themselves, while others relaxed in the back with their personal drivers.
Everything flowed without a hitch as the big convoy rolled out toward the Centenary Pack.
By the time they reached the massive entrance gates, tons of other pack members had already started showing up. Luxury cars packed the roads leading in, and the whole festival vibe was already buzzing in the air.
As Seraphine gazed out the window, something immediately grabbed her attention. Her brows pulled together in surprise. "Wait, is that Damon and Bryan?"
Voren turned to look too. Sure enough, there was Damon standing near the entrance with little Bryan happily perched on his shoulders.
The kid’s bright eyes were scanning every incoming car like he was searching for the most important person in the world.
The moment Corvine hit the brakes and their SUV stopped, Bryan spotted Seraphine. His whole face exploded with pure joy. Without missing a beat, he scrambled down from Damon’s shoulders.
"Bryan!" Damon barely had time to react before the little boy took off running at full speed.
"Mommy!" His happy little voice rang out across the whole entrance area, making several nearby cars slow down so people could watch the sweet reunion.
Seraphine jumped out of the SUV and rushed to meet him halfway. She dropped down, scooped him up into her arms, and hugged him as tight as she could, her heart bursting with love.
A big, warm smile lit up her face. "Bryan," she whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. "How’s my favorite boy? And why in the world were you waiting out here for me?"
Bryan wrapped his little arms around her neck like he never planned to let go. "Mommy, I’ve been waiting for you forever," he said, glancing around all sneaky-like before leaning in close to her ear.
His tiny voice dropped to an urgent whisper. "The she-wolves are planning something really bad. Don’t join the campfire, okay?" His little face looked so serious it almost broke her heart.
