Seeing Obito’s gaze drift downward, Ning Feng seemed to read his thoughts and casually explained.

He pointed at Obito’s body.

Only then did Obito suddenly realize.

"You... Forget it. What do we do now?"

Remembering how badly Ning Feng had made him suffer during the Nine-Tails Incident, Obito initially wanted to snap back.

But with Madara still outside as their greatest common enemy, he suppressed his irritation and asked.

"What do we do now?"

Ning Feng looked at Obito’s white three-tomoe mask with some surprise.

Beneath the eyeholes, Obito’s eyes were visible.

The glow of his Mangekyō Sharingan was no longer as bright as it had been moments ago.

It seemed that without obtaining the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, even Hashirama’s cells couldn’t completely negate the burden brought by Susanoo.

Susanoo was the third power of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

The price of possessing absolute offense and absolute defense was an immense strain on the body.

Obito was now clearly feeling that burden.

A pressure he’d never experienced while using Kamui.

He could even sense many of the cells in his body gradually breaking down under Susanoo’s overwhelming load.

"A Madara whose chakra and stamina aren’t even at their best anymore..."

Ning Feng spread his hands.

"Do I really need to think about how to deal with him?"

"I could send two Wood Clones against him and they’d still suppress him."

"..."

Obito covered his eyes speechlessly.

The pain radiating from his Mangekyō Sharingan was becoming increasingly difficult to endure.

So this was the burden of using Susanoo...

His eyes felt completely different now.

For the first time, he could clearly sense the depletion of his ocular power.

Hashirama’s cells greatly reduced the consumption of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

But Susanoo...

Even Hashirama’s regenerative abilities couldn’t fully offset its cost.

"Ning Feng?"

Standing atop the Perfect Susanoo, Madara suddenly sensed an enormous chakra signature appearing inside Obito’s azure warrior.

His heart couldn’t help but tremble.

Wasn’t that guy fighting Hashirama?

How had he suddenly appeared here?

Realizing something was wrong, Madara immediately retreated, widening the distance.

His current condition was far from ideal.

He couldn’t defeat Ning Feng even at full strength.

Trying to clash head-on after only recovering a few minutes’ worth of chakra would be suicidal.

At the same time, he glanced toward Hashirama’s battlefield.

Hashirama’s armor was shattered in multiple places.

His body was covered in wounds, constantly regenerating through Edo Tensei.

Just moments ago, Hashirama had been suppressing Ning Feng so thoroughly that Ning Feng couldn’t spare attention for anything else.

Yet after only a few exchanges between Madara and Obito, Ning Feng had already suppressed Hashirama and rushed over to help?

This guy...

Madara’s expression darkened.

He continued retreating while simultaneously dismissing his chakra-hungry Susanoo.

If even Hashirama’s close-combat abilities could no longer suppress Ning Feng, then Madara truly didn’t know who in the ninja world still could.

Hashirama Senju was universally acknowledged as the God of Shinobi.

Unlike most people, Madara understood exactly how terrifying Hashirama’s close-range combat skills truly were.

If even Hashirama was being overwhelmed like this, then Madara certainly wouldn’t fare any better.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, the azure warrior vanished.

In its place appeared a fully armored golden warrior.

Ning Feng’s Susanoo.

"This guy..."

Madara’s face became even uglier.

His Mangekyō Sharingan spun frantically.

The golden warrior spread its wings and charged directly toward him.

In the blink of an eye, it crossed the hundreds of meters Madara had created between them.

Then it raised its blade and slashed downward.

The strike was as swift as lightning.

Almost instantly, it arrived before Madara.

"Susanoo: Guard!"

Madara gritted his teeth.

A pale-blue skeletal frame suddenly materialized around him.

The first stage of Susanoo.

He had no intention of confronting Ning Feng head-on.

At this moment, he had only one thought:

Run.

He could tell this strike wasn’t particularly powerful.

Ning Feng was merely testing him.

CLANG!

The blade of Ning Feng’s Susanoo struck directly against Madara’s skeletal Susanoo.

The impact sent Madara flying backward but caused no substantial damage.

"This guy..."

Ning Feng hadn’t expected Madara to seize the opportunity so cleverly.

Using the collision’s momentum, Madara widened the gap once more.

Seeing how determined Madara was to flee, Ning Feng stopped pursuing.

He hadn’t marked Madara with a Flying Thunder God seal.

Without one, there wasn’t much he could do.

"Not chasing him?"

Obito looked at Ning Feng in surprise.

In his impression, Ning Feng was someone who never showed mercy.

As long as an enemy still had breath left in them, he would never rest easy.

"Can’t catch him this time."

Ning Feng curled his lip and snorted.

"At the Super Kage level, victories aren’t decided in a few moments."

"And if one side is determined to leave, the other side usually can’t stop them."

"So once I saw how determined Madara was to avoid a fight to the death, I knew I couldn’t keep him here."

"I know where their underground base is. How about we—"

"No need."

Ning Feng looked at Obito as though he were an idiot.

"Now that Madara knows you’ve betrayed him, he’ll immediately relocate to a new hideout."

"For all we know, the base you know about is already full of traps waiting for us."

He’d always suspected Obito wasn’t the sharpest person around.

But he hadn’t expected him to be this naïve.

Just because Madara had been beaten down in front of them didn’t mean Madara had suddenly become stupid.

The man had survived the Warring States Era.

His strategic thinking operated on an entirely different level.

And Obito wanted to march straight into one of their old bases?

If Ning Feng didn’t already know Obito had genuinely turned against Madara—and that he’d personally orchestrated it—

He might have suspected Obito was a spy planted beside him by Madara.

"Enough about that."

Ning Feng waved the topic away.

"What I need now is the summoning contract for the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path."

"Once I control the statue, Madara won’t be able to escape so easily next time."

"Next time, I’ll make sure he stays here."

Hearing that, Obito’s face beneath the mask turned slightly pale.

"Unfortunately..."

"I can’t do that."
