Chapter 272: Madara’s Frustration
Swish! Swish!
With the enhancement of Lightning Release chakra stimulating his body, Ning Feng’s sword speed increased by an unknown amount.
His blade flashed like lightning, continuously shrinking the space available for Madara Uchiha to evade.
"Who would’ve thought..."
Madara sighed in frustration.
His original plan had been for Obito Uchiha to pressure Ning Feng from the sidelines.
Instead, the situation had completely reversed.
Now Obito was lurking around him, waiting for an opportunity to strike, making Madara’s situation even more difficult.
"What? Feeling depressed?"
Naturally, Ning Feng noticed Madara’s sigh and asked with a teasing smile.
"Hmph."
Madara snorted coldly.
No matter how frustrated he was, he wouldn’t show it in front of a junior.
"Don’t be too upset. After all, you’re the one who started by outnumbering me."
Ning Feng shrugged.
Even while talking, his blade remained completely merciless.
"And strictly speaking, you were bullying someone younger than you too."
"There’s something I’m curious about. How exactly did you convince Obito to switch sides?"
Ignoring Ning Feng’s words, Madara asked with a puzzled look.
"Him? I simply laid out the pros and cons for him, and he made his own choice."
Ning Feng chuckled and slashed across Madara’s armor once more.
If this had been the Obito from the Fourth Great Ninja War—already possessing one Sharingan and a Rinnegan—he might not have agreed so easily.
But now?
First, Ning Feng analyzed the situation.
Then he deliberately appeared weak.
Finally, he used Madara’s own ruthless nature as a warning for Obito.
How could a seventeen-year-old teenager not be persuaded by that?
The current Obito simply didn’t possess that level of judgment.
Of course...
What Ning Feng said wasn’t wrong.
Even in the original story, Obito had gained over a decade of additional experience and growth.
Yet after becoming the Sage of Six Paths’ successor, hadn’t he ultimately become nothing more than a stepping stone for Madara’s revival?
In the end, Madara had become the true Sage of Six Paths.
One could only say that experience triumphed over youth.
Madara had long since calculated Obito’s value and intended to squeeze every ounce of usefulness from him.
The truly terrifying thing about Madara wasn’t his strength.
It was his ability to scheme.
Hashirama Senju had been stronger than him.
Yet in the Fourth Great Ninja War, Hashirama still ended up as an Edo Tensei.
He never truly returned to life.
Madara, despite being weaker than Hashirama, had arranged a successor before his death, planned his revival decades in advance, and even incorporated the power of the Sage of Six Paths into his calculations.
If Black Zetsu hadn’t stabbed him in the back at the very end, Madara’s life would have been a complete success story.
"Analyzed the pros and cons?"
Madara let out a cold laugh.
He had always known Obito had the potential to become a traitor.
But he hadn’t expected him to be swayed so easily.
What had Black Zetsu been doing all this time?
Wasn’t he supposed to be keeping an eye on Obito?
How had he been given the opportunity to change sides?
Buzz!
Just as Madara dodged another incoming strike, a familiar spatial distortion suddenly appeared before him!
"Damn it..."
Madara wanted to counter the space-time ninjutsu.
Unfortunately, Ning Feng’s attacks were far too relentless.
He simply didn’t have the time to prepare.
In the end, he had no choice but to use another shadow.
"Limbo!"
One of Madara’s invisible shadows appeared between him and Ning Feng.
The space twisted violently.
Yet Madara himself remained completely unharmed.
"What exactly...?"
Hidden in the shadows, Obito frowned.
After failing multiple times, he could rule out unfamiliarity with his Sharingan as the cause.
Then what was the reason?
Could this be Madara’s trump card against space-time ninjutsu?
Had this bastard been guarding against him from the very beginning?
Since Obito didn’t possess the Rinnegan, he couldn’t see Madara’s Limbo shadows.
As a result, he assumed Madara had specifically prepared some secret method to counter Kamui.
This guy...
Obito had harbored rebellious thoughts for some time.
But he had always hidden them perfectly.
Even so, Madara had still taken precautions against him?
"Obito! Don’t be afraid of his tricks. The moment you see an opening, hit him with Kamui!"
The tense atmosphere was shattered by Ning Feng’s shout.
"You..."
Madara’s gaze turned icy.
Ning Feng already understood how he was avoiding Kamui.
Even for him, restoring a Limbo shadow after its neck or body had been severed by Kamui required considerable time.
And he only had four shadows.
Ning Feng was clearly trying to drive him into a dead end!
"Looks like I can only do this."
After hearing that, Obito’s resolve strengthened further.
Since he had already decided to betray Madara, there was no point hesitating anymore.
The moment Madara revealed an opening, he would use Kamui!
"As for Limbo... I definitely can’t tell Obito about it."
Ning Feng quietly exhaled.
He had no intention of revealing Madara’s abilities to Obito.
All he needed was to force Madara back.
Once that happened, he would seal the eight Tailed Beasts, obtain the method of controlling the Demonic Statue from Obito, and then...
The day he became the Sage of Six Paths and opened a connection between the Naruto world and reality would not be far away.
"Uchiha Feng... sometimes I’m genuinely curious. What exactly are you fighting for?"
Madara sneered after hearing Ning Feng’s words.
"Obito wants to create a peaceful world where Rin exists."
"I want to end the endless turmoil of the ninja world and guide everyone toward a peaceful future."
"But you?"
"What are you working so hard for?"
"Of course it’s to become stronger. Only by obtaining the Sage of Six Paths’ power can one truly become the strongest in the ninja world."
Ning Feng spoke casually.
"Only the strongest can put an end to all evil in this world."
"How foolish."
A mocking smile appeared on Madara’s face.
"You can’t establish rules through strength alone."
"Even if you impose rules, someone will break them a hundred years later."
"And where there is killing, there will be hatred."
"And where there is hatred, there will always be a reason for new hatred to be born."
"Enough with the grand speeches. Let’s settle this with our fists."
Ning Feng spat disdainfully.
Madara clearly couldn’t win and was trying to use philosophy to make him stop fighting.
Unfortunately for him, Ning Feng didn’t share the mindset of shinobi from this era.
Arguments about hatred and cycles of vengeance meant nothing to him.
He simply wanted to become the Sage of Six Paths.
The strongest shinobi in the entire ninja world.
Then break through the barrier between reality and the Naruto world.
That was his goal.
Was he supposed to explain all of that to Madara in detail?
"Kamui!"
As Obito unleashed Kamui once again, Madara’s final Limbo shadow was destroyed as well...
