Chapter 512 -256: Living Castle (Part 2)

Their strength was also a notch above ordinary Flame Demons. Even the weakest of them had combat power approaching the Sixth Level.

There were more than thirty who had reached the Sixth Level.

Pei Ze wasn’t surprised.

Every Demon Lord was an ancient being that had existed for hundreds of thousands of years. Over such a vast expanse of time, cultivating a batch of high-tier combatants was all too easy.

Some powerful Demon Lords even had hundreds of Level 6 demons under their command.

The total number of Level 6 demons in the entire Abyss was in the tens of thousands.

It was only by relying on Floating Cities and Wizard Towers that the Star Realm Alliance could contend with the Abyss.

However, Lady Fungi had only unified Shedakra for a relatively short time and hadn’t managed to cultivate enough subordinates. Thus, her power was still a step behind other Demon Lords.

RUMBLE!

Just then, the distant Fungi Castle began to shake violently. Countless specks of powder rained down, kicking up a vast cloud of dust.

A fierce wind then swept through, and thousands of purple and brownish-green tentacles burst through the dust cloud, soaring into the sky.

“This castle is actually alive?”

Pei Ze was truly astonished this time.

He hadn’t sensed a thing from start to finish.

‘But on second thought, fungi are living things, a type of eukaryotic organism. It doesn’t seem so strange for a castle made entirely of fungi to possess life.’

“This aura…”

The expressions on the faces of Yin Yongqin, Yi Nan, and the others changed drastically.

They felt an immense pressure from the fungal monster before them, a pressure no less intense than facing a Peak Level 6 Wizard.

This Fungi Castle was clearly the greatest power under Lady Fungi’s command.

“Leave this one to me.”

Pei Ze said gravely, piloting the Wizard Tower toward the fungal monster.

Yin Yongqin, Mo Weng, and the others exchanged a look, all tacitly agreeing.

Pei Ze, who could wield the Power of Rules to a limited extent, was now clearly the strongest among them, aside from Xi Nan. It was undoubtedly the most fitting for him to deal with the fungal monster.

Averting their gazes, they all charged toward the mutated High-Tier Demons.

With a whoosh, the All-Knowing Wizard Tower came to a stop less than five hundred meters from the fungal monster.

Upon spotting the Wizard Tower, the tentacles that had been dancing wildly in the air found their target. They immediately tore through the sky, lashing out at the Wizard Tower.

Just as the tentacles were about to strike the Wizard Tower, a faint layer of light abruptly materialized, blocking them.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The fungal monster’s tentacles were incredibly powerful. A single casual strike was enough to annihilate a Level 5 demon. Yet, they couldn’t breach the defense of the Maze Locking Protective Energy Field. Their impacts only created faint ripples on the layer of light.

Pei Ze’s gaze swept over the tentacles as he issued a command in a low voice.

“Tower Spirit 1, analyze attack strength.”

[Analysis complete. Attack Strength: 6.2. Estimated energy consumption: 0.12% per minute.]

Attack strength was a defensive metric Pei Ze had established.

The instantaneous tolerance limit of the Maze Locking Protective Energy Field was set to 10. As long as the attack strength it sustained did not exceed 10, there was no fear of the field being breached before the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace’s energy was depleted.

The attack strength of these tentacles was a mere 6.2, a far cry from the tolerance limit.

A defensive drain of 0.12% per minute meant the tentacles outside would have to attack continuously for nearly fourteen hours to breach the Maze Locking Protective Energy Field.

And that was without even factoring in the energy reserves from the super-capacity systems.

This was the power of the All-Knowing Wizard Tower.

The combination of the Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace and the enhanced Large-scale Maze Locking Protective Energy Field had raised the All-Knowing Wizard Tower’s defenses to a truly astonishing level.

Not even a Rule Wizard could hope to break through the All-Knowing Wizard Tower’s defenses in a short amount of time.

That being said, Pei Ze wasn’t the type to just take a beating without retaliating. His thoughts shifted, and he acted.

The next moment, countless densely-packed Rune Arrays lit up on the exterior of the Wizard Tower.

After a brief pause, every Rune Array simultaneously fired a scorching beam of light more than five meters in diameter.

In an instant, a dense barrage of scorching beams filled the sky, crisscrossing to form a giant net that descended upon the tentacles, blanketing everything.

Under the concentrated volley from the Spell Towers, more than a third of the thousand-plus tentacles were annihilated almost instantly.

“HISSSSSS!”

The fungal monster let out a piercing shriek, and the entire castle convulsed violently.

The intense pain fully triggered its ferocity. The remaining tentacles whipped toward the Wizard Tower, carried on an even more violent gale.

But it was useless.

The sickly green mist emanating from the tentacles seemed to be highly toxic and hallucinogenic, but it was utterly ineffective against the Maze Locking Protective Energy Field.

Pei Ze had no intention of dragging things out. Two more volleys from the Spell Towers directly annihilated the remaining tentacles.

Immediately after, the Spell Towers’ concentrated fire shifted to the main body of the Fungi Castle.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Under Pei Ze’s relentless bombardment, which paid no mind to energy consumption, the fungal monster with combat power comparable to a Peak Level 6 Wizard was ultimately blasted into nothing but dust.

Watching this from a distance, Yin Yongqin and the others felt their eyes twitch, their hearts pounding in shock.

Compared to complex and varied fighting styles, this majestic method of simply crushing an enemy with overwhelming, brute force was far more stunning and awe-inspiring.

‘This attack power is probably equivalent to three or four large Wizard Towers firing in concert.’

Yin Yongqin couldn’t help but marvel to himself.

Mo Weng was equally astonished.

‘Compared to the god-slaying battle in the Dark Territory, the combat power of Pei Ze’s Wizard Tower seems to have increased significantly.’

‘And those golems… their combat power is even greater than most Level 4 Wizards.’

‘You probably couldn’t find a more formidable Wizard Tower than Pei Ze’s in the entire Star Realm Alliance.’

After finishing off the fungal monster, Pei Ze piloted the Wizard Tower toward the remaining mutated demons.

“Number 1, what are our energy levels?”

[Energy remaining: 47.51%]

Pei Ze nodded to himself.

‘The earlier planar teleportation only consumed less than 5% of our energy.’

‘In other words, killing the fungal monster consumed a total of about 47%.’

‘Using that much energy to kill a demon comparable to a Peak Level 6 Wizard is a pretty good trade.’

With plenty of energy to spare, Pei Ze didn’t hold back, directing the Spell Towers to target the mutated demons.

His main targets were the mutated demons at the Sixth Level.

If even the fungal monster couldn’t withstand the Spell Towers’ concentrated fire, these far weaker Level 6 demons stood no chance.

With nearly every concentrated volley from the towers, a Level 6 demon was blasted into ash with a final scream.

In just two or three minutes, eleven Level 6 demons had been slain.

And with that, the Wizard Tower’s energy was depleted.

Without hesitation, Pei Ze tapped into the reserve energy and continued to annihilate the enemy.

As if inspired by Pei Ze’s all-out assault, the other Councillors’ attacks grew even more ferocious.

Under the Wizards’ relentless assault, the demons were in full retreat. Their defeat was now a foregone conclusion.

Seeing that the situation was clear, Pei Ze turned his attention to the battles in the distance.

High in the firmament, a deep, dark nightscape occupied half the sky, while the other half was a boundless expanse of bizarre fungi.

The two sides struggled against and annihilated one another. The spectacle seemed subdued, far less intense than the battlefield below, yet every collision exuded a heart-stopping sense of dread.

Clearly, a victor would not be decided in this battle anytime soon.

In comparison, the battle between Xi Nan and Pan Mo was far more intense.

Both of their Wizard Towers seemed to have exhausted their energy and had withdrawn from the sky. In their place, the two Wizards were now engaged in a fierce personal duel.

Both had mastered the Rule of Death, and both were newly-promoted Rule Wizards. It was safe to say they were evenly matched.

Where their powers collided, the very void for miles around seemed to freeze, stained a cold, deathly shade of grayish-white.

Any demon, golem, or slave that strayed into this area was instantly stripped of all life force, turning to dust in a heartbeat.

Just as Pei Ze was thinking their battle would also be a protracted one, the situation changed abruptly.

A wave of deathly power, cold to its absolute extreme, suddenly erupted.

Immediately after, a figure plummeted from the sky like a falling star, crashing onto the ground with a tremendous boom.

Everyone stared in astonishment, their expressions changing in unison.

The figure that had fallen was, to everyone’s shock, Xi Nan!
