Tao Ping said with a beaming smile in the main hall.

Tao Ping placed an exquisitely crafted jade box on the table.

Pei Ze glanced at the box and didn’t stand on ceremony. He smiled. "You’re too kind, Steward Tao. Please, have a seat."

After they sat down and exchanged a few pleasantries, Tao Ping got straight to the point.

"Lord Pei Ze, I’ve come today representing the sincere intentions of our Association. We would like to formally invite you to join us."

Tao Ping said with a solemn expression.

Pei Ze wasn’t surprised to hear this.

Ever since his promotion to Elemental Mage, he had received plenty of similar offers.

It seemed like every other day, a Wizard Clan or some other power would come trying to recruit him. Pei Ze was long used to it.

He smiled faintly and politely declined, "I appreciate the kind offer, but I’m used to my freedom and don’t like being tied down."

Tao Ping was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Pei Ze to refuse so bluntly, without even hearing the terms.

Unwilling to give up, he was about to speak again, but Pei Ze raised a hand to stop him.

"It’s best if you don’t, Steward Tao. I’m afraid if I hear your terms, I won’t be able to resist the temptation."

The Travelers’ Association claimed its reach extended throughout the Multiverse, and its members were predominantly powerful experts from all manner of civilized races. The sheer scale of its influence was self-evident.

The terms an organization of that caliber offered to recruit someone would undoubtedly be generous beyond imagination.

The fact that even an expert on Annie’s level had been absorbed into the Travelers’ Association was a clear indication of this.

However, privileges and obligations always went hand in hand.

The more generous the terms, the greater the obligations to be fulfilled later. Pei Ze had no desire to be tied down so firmly, so he preferred not to hear them at all.

Though spoken in a jesting tone, Tao Ping heard the resolve behind Pei Ze’s words. Deeply disappointed, he sighed and said no more on the matter, changing the subject. "In that case, Lord Pei Ze, you could always become an honorary member of our Association."

"Honorary member?" Pei Ze’s interest was piqued. "What’s that?"

"Honorary members can purchase the Association’s goods and enjoy its services at a discount. They also receive priority purchasing rights when resources are scarce."

Pei Ze’s eyes lit up.

That sounded quite appealing. The discount on goods was especially attractive, as it could save him a huge sum of money, given that he was currently planning to build a Wizard Tower.

However, Pei Ze knew there was no such thing as a free lunch. He immediately asked, "And what are the obligations for an honorary member?"

Tao Ping replied with a smile, "Honorary members are only required to complete one mission for the Association every ten years."

"When the time comes, you can choose a mission from a designated list. Acceptance is voluntary, and we guarantee the tasks will not exceed the honorary member’s capabilities."

"Furthermore, if an honorary member breaks through to a higher level of power, the time limit can be extended. For instance, an honorary member who is a Level 5 Wizard would only need to complete one mission every twenty years."

Pei Ze was suddenly tempted.

The conditions weren’t harsh—just one mission every ten years.

’I can just treat it like an adventure.’

If a mission’s danger exceeded his capabilities, he could simply refuse it.

Besides, in ten years, he would most likely have broken through to Level 5, at which point the time limit would extend to twenty years.

His mind raced, and Pei Ze quickly made his decision. He smiled and agreed.

"All right, I’m willing to become an honorary member of your association."

Tao Ping was overjoyed. "You absolutely will not regret this decision!"

Although he hadn’t managed to convince Pei Ze to become a full-fledged member, recruiting him as an honorary member was enough to be considered the bare minimum for completing his mission.

Pei Ze gave a noncommittal smile and changed the subject.

"As it happens, I have a favor to ask of you, Steward Tao."

Tao Ping’s expression turned serious. He said quickly, "Please, go ahead."

"I have an improved Lightning Affinity Potion formula, and I’d like to ask the Association for help in finding a buyer."
