Chapter 316: Chapter 184: The Pei Family Pursuers Arrive, Netherworld Plain

Pei Ze turned to look at Pei Sheng.

Meeting Pei Ze’s indifferent gaze, a chill ran down Pei Sheng’s spine. He wanted to run, but his rational mind told him it was impossible to escape from the Godslayer standing before him.

At this thought, a miserable look appeared on his face.

"I doubt you’ll answer, but I’ll ask anyway," Pei Ze said coolly. "Where are the rest of the Pei Family hiding?"

Pei Sheng gave a bitter smile. "If I tell you, will you let me leave alive?"

Pei Ze shook his head.

Seeing this, the last shred of hope in Pei Sheng’s heart evaporated. With another miserable smile, he unleashed his Magic, attacking Pei Ze.

’Even in death, he wouldn’t just surrender and wait to be killed by his enemy.’

"It’s a pity you’re a member of the Pei Family. Otherwise, I might have let you live."

Pei Ze shook his head and pointed. A shimmering silver storm of metal swept out, instantly riddling Pei Sheng with holes.

WHOOSH!

The corpse fell toward the ground, but the Fog Crows caught it mid-air and brought it before Pei Ze.

With a casual wave, Pei Ze stored the body in his dimensional bag and turned to leave.

The deaths of thirteen Wizards were undoubtedly a crippling blow to the Pei Family, which now had only a hundred or so members left. Pei Ze reckoned that even if they wanted revenge, they would for a time be willing but unable to act.

Until they figured out exactly how those thirteen had died, the Pei Family would most likely not send anyone else to hunt him.

But just because the Pei Family wasn’t making a move didn’t mean Pei Ze was going to let them off the hook.

If he didn’t seize this rare opportunity to wipe out the Pei Family completely, they would eventually recover. Dealing with them then would be needlessly complicated.

Strike your enemy when they’re down—that was an irrefutable truth!

...

「Seven days later.」

Pei Ze returned to the Rainbow Inn in Awo Castle.

The moment he entered, he saw Yidar behind the counter.

The Rainbow Dragon was holding a book, reading with rapt attention. He seemed to exist in a world of his own, serene and untouched by his surroundings.

Pei Ze hesitated for a moment before walking toward the counter.

"Lord Yidar."

Yidar looked up at the sound of his voice. Seeing Pei Ze, he smiled slightly. "Just call me Yidar. I’m only an innkeeper right now."

Pei Ze readily agreed. "Yidar, there’s something I’d like to ask you."

"What is it?" Yidar asked with a smile.

"Is there anywhere within a two-thousand-kilometer radius of Awo Castle that’s suitable for a Wizard to live in seclusion?"

Yidar raised an eyebrow, seemingly surprised that Pei Ze would ask such a thing.

However, he didn’t press the matter. Instead, he smiled. "I do know a place that fits your criteria. But Wizards value equivalent exchange above all else. What do you plan to offer for my information?"

Pei Ze thought for a few seconds. "I have some improved magical tattoos. How about I trade those with you?"

Unlike most dragons, Rainbow Dragons place great importance on knowledge and enjoy studying all kinds of magical lore.

And as it happened, Pei Ze possessed a great deal of new knowledge that had been improved or created by his Eye of Omniscience.

For example, various types of Magic, Meditation Techniques, breathing methods, metamagic techniques, Elemental Runes, magical tattoos, and Alchemy Engravings.

However, most of these were not suitable for trade.

After some thought, he decided the magical tattoos were the most appropriate.

It was perfectly normal for a Second-level Wizard like him to have improved a few magical tattoos—as long as he didn’t reveal the knowledge of their "combustion" property.

To a being of Yidar’s level, magical tattoos were merely a minor trick, but he still readily agreed.

A Rainbow Dragon’s desire and curiosity for knowledge—especially new, undiscovered knowledge—was purer than that of many Wizards.

Pei Ze immediately took out a Memory Crystal Ball and recorded the knowledge of six improved magical tattoos into it.

Of course, he deliberately omitted the part about combustion.

The combustion property was nothing less than a revolutionary creation for magical tattoos. It was best not to reveal such knowledge unless absolutely necessary.

Before long, Pei Ze finished the recording and handed the Memory Crystal Ball to Yidar.

Yidar took it and immediately began to read its contents.

A moment later, he looked up and nodded with a smile.

"Quite interesting knowledge. This payment is sufficient."

"Do you have a Magic Map?"

Pei Ze immediately took out his Magic Map, unfurling it on the counter.

Yidar’s gaze swept over it. He reached out and tapped a spot on the map, and a golden marker instantly appeared.

Pei Ze looked closely. The marker was located over six hundred kilometers northwest of Awo Castle. It was also less than five hundred kilometers in a straight line from the valley where the Netherworld Crow Swarm had previously dwelled.

"This place is called the Netherworld Plain."

"You’ve heard of the Dark Realm, I assume?"

Pei Ze nodded slightly.

The Shadow Realm had originated from the material plane and hadn’t existed long enough to fully stabilize. As a result, its plane was still unstable, and spatial rifts would appear from time to time.

These spatial rifts were known as the Dark Realm.

The Dark Realm was formless and intangible. It appeared and disappeared at random, following no discernible pattern, yet it concealed immense danger.

Anyone who stepped into the range of the Dark Realm would be torn to shreds by the violent Power of Space, leaving no trace behind.

Anyone below the fourth level had virtually no chance of escape if they encountered the Dark Realm.

However, as terrifying as the Dark Realm was, it didn’t appear frequently. Its area of effect was small and its duration was short; it would often disappear quickly.

It was a good thing, too. Otherwise, the Magical Creatures of the Shadow Realm would have been completely devoured long ago.

"There’s a zone surrounding the Netherworld Plain where the Dark Realm appears more frequently than anywhere else in the Shadow Realm. That’s how it got its name."

"Because of the Dark Realm, Magical Creatures rarely set foot on the Netherworld Plain, and Wanderers don’t enter it lightly either. So, as long as you have a way to cross the high-risk zone on its periphery, the Netherworld Plain is a natural safe zone."
