Chapter 314: Chapter 184: The Pei Family Pursuers Arrive, Netherworld Plain

Along the way, Pei Sheng had cast prophecy spells at least ten times to track Pei Ze’s location. The drain on his Spiritual Power was secondary; the cost to his life force was what was truly severe.

By now, his hair had turned completely white, and his face was a crisscrossing web of deep wrinkles. He looked like a man well into his twilight years, a candle flickering in the wind.

Pei Zongguang glanced at him and said flatly, "When we get back, go to the warehouse and collect a bottle of Life Essence Spring."

Pei Sheng’s spirits lifted, and he quickly said, "Thank you, Sir."

Life Essence Spring originated from the Tree of Life, a sacred relic of the Elf Race. The tree contained a rich life force and produced a certain amount of Life Spring Water each year. Drinking the water could significantly restore one’s life force and heal injuries.

Life Spring Water was a well-known healing remedy throughout the entire Multiverse.

Life Essence Spring, on the other hand, was the product of refining Life Spring Water. It contained an even more abundant life force and was far more effective.

Although one bottle of Life Essence Spring wouldn’t be enough to fully replenish what he had lost, it could restore seventy to eighty percent of his life force. This allowed Pei Sheng to breathe a secret sigh of relief.

’He certainly didn’t want to die just yet.’

"The kid picked a good spot," a Wizard said with a sneer. "This area is so desolate that not even Wanderers come here. Even if a battle breaks out, we don’t have to worry about attracting anyone else’s attention."

The comment was made casually, but it struck a chord with Pei Zongguang. A thought suddenly occurred to him.

’Could it be? Did Pei Ze know we were coming all along and deliberately choose this place to fight us?’

’No, that’s unlikely.’

’If he really knew we were coming, he would have hidden in a settlement by now.’

’Why would he stay in the wilderness, waiting for us to hunt him down?’

Pei Zongguang shook his head, pushing the thought aside. He narrowed his eyes, preparing to give the order to attack.

But in the next moment, countless hoarse caws erupted from the dense forest below. Thousands of crows flew out from the trees, blanketing the sky as they surged toward them.

The Pei Family Wizards froze for a moment before sneers simultaneously broke out across their faces.

"So this is the ability of that kid’s magic pet. I heard his Crow Magic Pet can summon a large number of derivatives."

"How ridiculous. Surely the boy doesn’t think a flock of derivatives can stand against us?"

"Don’t let your guard down. Pei Ze might be trying to use these derivatives to slow us down so he can take the opportunity to escape."

"Relax. Now that we’ve found him, there’s no way he can escape our grasp."

The group chatted casually, their expressions relaxed.

To ensure they could capture Pei Ze, they had dispatched a full thirteen Wizards this time, including seven Level 3 Wizards and six Second-level Wizards.

Among them, leading the group, was Pei Zongguang himself—a Level 3 Crystalized Wizard.

Furthermore, they had all fused with Fell Artifacts, making their combat prowess top-tier among Wizards of the same level.

With a lineup like this, forget Pei Ze; even another Level 3 Crystalized Wizard would have no hope of escaping their grasp.

Pei Ze was a genius, to be sure, and could even punch above his weight in a fight. But ultimately, there was no way he could stand against them.

Facing the tide of oncoming crows, the Pei Family Wizards confidently launched their counterattack. A kaleidoscope of magical light instantly erupted as lightning, fire, and ice rained down upon the flock like a tempest, obliterating four to five hundred Fog Crows in the very first exchange.

However, more Fog Crows surged forward, completely surrounding the dozen-plus Wizards. Wave after wave threw themselves at the intruders, utterly fearless of death.

Looking down from high above, the dozen-plus Wizards seemed to be swallowed by a black flood, their figures almost completely obscured.

In reality, however, they were handling the assault with ease.

Although they were somewhat surprised by the Fog Crows’ combat strength, the creatures’ second-tier legendary power was not enough to pose a real threat.

Pei Zongguang glanced down at the dense forest, puzzled.

’Other than this flock of crows, Pei Ze hasn’t made any other moves. He’s not trying to escape, nor is he attempting a sneak attack. What on earth is he planning?’

Just as he was pondering this, a powerful sense of alarm surged from deep within him. A sudden chill shot straight up his spine.

He whipped his head around and quickly spotted four crows within the flock. Their bodies were suddenly glowing with a blinding, incandescent light. They were positioned perfectly at the four corners surrounding the thirteen Wizards, enclosing them like four miniature suns.

Pei Zongguang immediately sensed the danger and bellowed.

"Watch out—"

But the word had barely left his lips before it was drowned out by a deafening roar, as if a thunderclap had exploded right beside his ear. A blinding crimson light, accompanied by a surging inferno, swept out and engulfed all of the Wizards!

In an instant, a new sun, so brilliant it threatened to blind all who saw it, bloomed in the sky!

"AHHH!!!"

Bloodcurdling screams instantly rang out.

A chilling, gray light spread out like a hurricane, rapidly extinguishing the crimson glow and the flames.

The ’sun’ faded quickly, and in the blink of an eye, a sinister gray light filled the entire sky.

Within the gray light, the Pei Family Wizards—who moments ago had looked certain of their victory—now appeared utterly wretched and battered.

Only seven of the thirteen Wizards remained. The other six—the weaker Second-level Wizards—had been completely annihilated in the terrifying explosion, not even a trace of them left behind.

As for the seven survivors, including Pei Zongguang, they were all covered in severe burns. Patches of their flesh were charred black—a gruesome sight to behold.

Sinister, hazy black shadows materialized behind each of the seven, emitting a gray light that enveloped their bodies.

If they hadn’t sensed the imminent danger and released their Fell Artifacts in the nick of time, all seven of them would have been turned to ash in the explosion, just like the six Second-level Wizards.

"PEI ZE!!!"

Pei Zongguang growled through gritted teeth, his face a twisted mask of fury.
