Chapter 265: Chapter 160: Massive Merit Points, Purified Soul Crystal
Everyone stared dumbfounded at Pei Ze, their faces etched with utter shock.
To have actually escaped from a situation like that... It was just too incredible!
Even a mighty Level 3 Wizard might not have been able to escape that crisis unscathed.
Pei Ze landed on the ground. The moment he steadied himself, a trickle of crimson blood ran from the corner of his mouth.
The impact had injured him after all.
"Pei Ze!"
Gu Lin immediately rushed over, anxiously taking his arm.
"Are you okay?"
Pei Ze shook his head. He took out a healing potion and drank it down, and some color returned to his pale face.
"Was that a Bloodline Mark you just used?" Annie suddenly asked, her blood-red eyes fixed on Pei Ze with keen interest. "The Yugro Giant Serpent bloodline?"
Though phrased as a question, her tone was one of absolute certainty.
Facing a High-tier Wizard, Pei Ze knew it was impossible to hide something like this, so he admitted it openly.
"That’s right, it’s a Bloodline Mark."
"I once killed a Wizard who had inherited the Yugro Giant Serpent bloodline. I obtained the creation method for the Bloodline Mark from him, and after some modifications, I developed the one I use now."
"No wonder you were so fixated on the Silver Frost Disaster Wolf’s blood, risking your life to get it," Annie remarked, then let the matter drop.
At her level, the only pursuit was insight into and understanding of the rules.
Everything else, even a Bloodline Mark that would be priceless to an ordinary Wizard, held no appeal for her.
Annie might not have cared, but Gu Lin, standing beside them, was so shocked her eyes went wide.
’A Wizard who inherited the Yugro bloodline?’
’Isn’t that someone from the Pei Family?’
’Pei Ze killed a Wizard from the Pei Family?’
’Who? Pei Yonggao?’
But what shocked her even more was that Pei Ze had actually developed a Bloodline Mark that was not bound by bloodline and could be used by any ordinary Wizard!
Even if it only worked with the Yugro Giant Serpent bloodline, it was still an absolutely stunning achievement!
’If word of this got out, forget other families—the Pei Family would stop at nothing to eliminate Pei Ze!’
At this thought, Gu Lin’s expression turned grim.
Seeming to sense her concern, Annie said lightly, "There’s no need to worry. The Bloodline Mark Pei Ze unleashes is vastly different from a true Yugro Giant Serpent Bloodline Mark. Unless they’re a Rule Wizard, no one will spot the discrepancy."
"And what if a Rule Wizard happens to discover it?" Gu Lin asked instinctively.
Annie shot her a glance, looking somewhat exasperated.
"The Pei Family doesn’t have any Rule Wizards. And even if other Rule Wizards saw it, at their level, they wouldn’t stoop to stealing from a junior."
Gu Lin realized that was true and breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
Pei Ze smiled faintly. He knew Gu Lin’s worry was clouding her judgment, so he didn’t tease her.
’In truth, it wouldn’t matter even if the Pei Family found out. Worst case, I’ll just hand the technology over to the Elemental Faction.’
’Once a secret is no longer a secret, the Pei Family loses its primary reason to kill me.’
’As for making an enemy of the Pei Family... the feud between us is already irreconcilable.’
’Besides, the Elemental Faction will be on the front lines, so I don’t need to worry.’
Snapping out of his thoughts, Pei Ze suddenly sensed something was amiss. He scanned his surroundings and discovered that a group of Winter Frost Priests had, deliberately or not, surrounded him and Gu Lin. Their eyes were filled with undisguised killing intent.
Pei Ze sneered at the sight.
’A bunch of cowards who prey on the weak and fear the strong!’
’Just moments ago, I had them running for their lives, scrambling to get away as if they’d seen a ghost. Now that they see I’m injured, they’re circling like a pack of wolves that’s scented blood. Do they really think I’m powerless now?’
Gu Lin quickly noticed something was wrong as well. Her expression faltered, and she instinctively moved closer to Pei Ze.
"This is bad!" Gu Lin said, her brow deeply furrowed.
Annie said calmly, "What’s the hurry? They’re just a pack of fools with no foresight. Just let Pei Ze take care of it."
Gu Lin froze, then turned to look at Pei Ze. As expected, his expression was as calm and composed as ever.
Seeing his tranquil face, she felt her own heart inexplicably settle.
Pei Ze had paid a heavy price to escape the heart of the battle. His Burning Flame Robe was damaged, and his three Alchemy Engravings had entered a cooldown period, rendering them unusable until they recharged. However, he still had a considerable amount of Spiritual Power remaining.
As long as he could still cast Magic, use Elemental Runes, and control his Silverstar, dealing with a group of Winter Frost Priests, none of whom were stronger than fifth-class, would be child’s play.
As if sensing something ominous in Pei Ze’s expression, the encircling Winter Frost Priests exchanged a glance and erupted into action. In an instant, a torrent of Divine Art attacks surged toward Pei Ze.
WHOOSH!
A bright, silver liquid metal shot into the air, rapidly forming a metallic hemisphere that enveloped Pei Ze and Gu Lin.
The barrage of attacks rained down, causing the metallic hemisphere to shudder violently, but it could not be broken.
When the Winter Frost Priests’ volley of attacks ended, the surface of the metallic hemisphere was covered in pits and dents, but it still stood firm.
The next second, the metallic hemisphere violently exploded. Surging lightning carried the silver liquid metal, splattering it in all directions. The liquid twisted and writhed in mid-air, transforming into a volley of metallic spikes crackling with lightning. They shot toward the Winter Frost Priests like a tempest!
Although they were prepared for Pei Ze’s counterattack, the Winter Frost Priests were still stunned by the terrifying strike.
More than ten Winter Frost Priests were instantly riddled with holes and dropped dead on the spot.
The remaining Winter Frost Priests collapsed, heavily wounded. Before they could even recover, the metallic spikes reversed course and shot back, piercing each one through the forehead!
Only two Fourth-Class Priests, seeing how dire the situation had become, retreated with pale faces.
