Chapter 829 - 832: The Spirit Beasts of the Poaching Squad_1

Chapter 829: Chapter 832: The Spirit Beasts of the Poaching Squad_1

“Sir, this is the identity you need. His Majesty asks me to remind you to keep it confidential.”

Upon obtaining the information about the poaching team, Lin Zhen didn’t rush over immediately. Instead, he first fabricated an identity in the Dimensional Universe.

Forging an identity isn’t a simple task as it requires the help of someone inside the Dimensional Universe company.

Lin Zhen did not bother his Fifth Elder Brother with this; instead, he had Zhu Ziheng, the Imperial Emperor of the Da Qin Empire, handle it.

Given that the Dimensional Universe company is located within Da Qin’s territory, Zhu Ziheng’s prominence couldn’t be disregarded.

In the Dimensional Universe, one of Zhu Ziheng’s guards sent Lin Zhen a new identity number.

The name Lin Zhen used for the identity was Lin Xun; he’s supposed to be an adventurer from the Da Qin Empire.

There isn’t much of a difference between the forged identity and a new one. Lin Zhen now has two names under his Dimensional Universe identification number, and he can use either one of the identities to add friends.

If he adds friends using Lin Xun’s identity, they would naturally see him as Lin Xun.

This method could be described less as forgery and more as having two identities in one.

“Please expresses my thanks to His Majesty for his help.”

The guard disappeared silently, and Lin Zhen closed the Dimensional Universe and headed for the location the bartender had mentioned.

The risk-taking team’s departure location was in the suburbs of Qin City, and Lin Zhen arrived there via the teleportation array.

However, using the teleportation array required a fee this time. Without using Lin Zhen’s identity, nobody would know that he is an honored citizen of the Qin Kingdom.

The suburbs were different from the city center. Instead of numerous buildings, there were numerous small residential buildings that sprawled across a large area.

When Lin Zhen arrived at a relatively spacious building, he pressed the doorbell.

“Who are you looking for?”

“Xiao Chen from the Adventurer’s Guild referred me.”

“Put your hand on the doorbell so we can scan your identity.”

They were involved in illegitimate practices and any careless move could lead to persecution by the police. These people were extremely cautious. Thankfully, Lin Zhen had just obtained a new identity.

The identity scan was completed quickly after he pressed his hand against it.

The identity that Zhu Ziheng had prepared for Lin Zhen was very comprehensive, with complete information and no apparent flaws, easily deceiving these people.

“Good, you can enter.”

The door opened just a crack, and Lin Zhen stepped inside.

After making several turns inside, he came to the back door of the small building.

Standing at the entrance was a man with an eye patch, in the early stages of the Three-Flowers realm.

“Lin Xun?”

“Yes.”

“There is a cage over there with a ghoul inside. Enter the cage and eliminate the ghoul to pass the test… if you fail, we’ll do our best to save you.”

The man stepped aside, and Lin Zhen saw a cage in the corner of the room.

Surrounding it was a crowd of people, all looking at Lin Zhen with scrutinizing gazes. These people all had an air of ferocity about them—it was clear they were accustomed to life-and-death battles.

Lin Zhen sneered, “What’s the big deal? A mere ghoul? Open the cage. I’ll crush it!”

The one-eyed man’s eyes lit up with satisfaction, and he motioned for Lin Zhen to approach the cage.

The cage was double-layered to prevent the ghoul from rushing out. Lin Zhen stepped into the first compartment, which was then closed. The second compartment opened, and Lin Zhen walked inside before it too was closed.

The ghoul in the corner of the room raised its head, roared, and rushed towards him with its bloodied maw wide open.

The ghoul, roughly equivalent to a master at the Longevity Stage, isn’t a Galaxy Beast. It usually scavenges for food from carcasses, but sometimes it preys on living creatures too.

Lin Zhen flicked his hand. The Light Annihilation at his waist turned into a sword and he began battling the ghoul.

After several modifications by Lin Zhen, the Light Annihilation, though not a divine treasure, is of high quality and ranks as a treasure, second only to divine treasures.

Apart from that, the Light Annihilation can change its shape at any time, which is handy.

“Wow! Nice weapon!” the one-eyed man exclaimed, his eyes shining.

Lin Zhen and the Ghoul were fiercely fighting inside the cage. About three minutes later, with a swing of his sword, Lin Zhen beheaded the Ghoul!

Putting away the Light Annihilation, Lin Zhen’s chest heaved slightly. It was a strenuous fight, but he still had energy left.

“Crack~!”

The cage opened again, and the one-eyed man let Lin Zhen out.

“Hahaha! Good job, I’m very satisfied with your strength. Welcome to our team. I assume you are aware of our mission and path, so I won’t dwell on it. Once we reach our destination, you’ll receive a reward of twenty million!”

Lin Zhen’s eyes glinted with excitement: “Deal! I came here for the high commission. As long as the money is right, it’s not a problem who I have to deal with.”

At this moment, a woman in a black bodysuit said, “Don’t be too presumptuous. Your power is only above average, and there’s still a gap between you and the top-tier Longevity Stage fighters. The enemies we are facing are beyond your imagination?”

Lin Zhen scorned, “What kind of enemy? I know this team is taking the Endless Star Sea path. Are there any national police and the races of captured prey that can catch up to us?”

“Idiot! Going through the Endless Star Sea, we might encounter races from the Star Sea. Lately, there has been some big news from the Star Sea – an important person from Qingqiu Mountain seems to have gone missing. The Buffer Zone is on high alert – does our team seem like it could benefit from encountering these ruthless races? You’re truly naive!”

The woman in black mocked Lin Zhen. He was stunned for a moment, and a trace of worry appeared on his face, “Then I…”

“Enough of your stammering! Once you step through this door, there’s no turning back. If you want to retreat, then the gates of Hell will open for you!”

The woman in black turned cold, and the one-eyed man also began to reach behind him with ill-intent. If Lin Zhen wanted to back out, it seemed that these two were ready to take action right away.

The dozen or so Longevity Stage martial artists on the side stared at Lin Zhen with hostile expressions. They worked in a dangerous business and couldn’t risk their plans being leaked. If Lin Zhen tried to leave, they wouldn’t hesitate to act.

Lin Zhen seemed to steel his resolve. “Forget it! Since I’m here, I should stay here. What’s so frightening about the Endless Star Sea? Fortune favors the brave! I’ll take on this job!”

The woman in black’s face softened, “That’s the spirit, Long, take him around and show him what needs to be protected.”

“Come on, follow me.”

Long called Lin Zhen, asking him to follow.

Lin Zhen followed him. After opening a corner door, he discovered that the small building had a vast underground area.

Two rows of huge character iron cages were set up on either side. Between the metal bars, a layer of faintly shimmering stars floated around, transparent, but separating the inside of the cage from the outside. The creatures inside couldn’t get out, and the outside couldn’t get in.

In the first cage on the left, a brightly colored parrot was imprisoned.

“We captured this in the bird gathering area of Heavenly Ridge, the Five-color Parrot. It can mimic human language very clearly. This little guy can fetch this price in Heavenly Ridge!” Long raised a hand.

“Fifty million!” Lin Zhen was taken aback.

“Hell no, five hundred million! This Five-color Parrot has a lifespan of a million years, can sing, and can converse with humans. Its main drawback is that it can’t transform; otherwise, it could sell for up to five billion.”

Lin Zhen showed a surprised look, he didn’t expect such an inconspicuous bird to be worth so much.

Long pointed to the first cage on the right: “Look at this one, a Suan Ni cub. It’s part of the Galaxy Beast family, but it hasn’t reached the transformation stage yet. Someone in our nation has preordered it, and it’s worth two billion!”

Lin Zhen’s gaze fell on the Suan Ni, who looked like a small lion.

This is a cub of the Galaxy Beast family, and it will be very fierce when it grows up. He didn’t expect it to be caught and brought here.

“Check this out, a nest of Azure Jaos, seven in total. A single one sells for one hundred million, but if someone wants the whole nest, we’d sell it for five hundred million.”

“And this one, a Divine Tortoise. Suitable for domestication and symbolic of good fortune, it’ll undoubtedly sell well when we get back. It’s just a little small; there are over forty here. We plan to sell them for ten million each back home.”

“These two are quite incredible, young girls from the Jade Rabbit Clan. We got them right after they reached the transformation stage. They can turn into adorable little girls or little rabbits. They are cuddly to play with and can keep you warm. Without ten billion, nobody is taking these two!”

Lin Zhen looked at two trembling girls in an iron cage. The two girls, with snow-white skin and no clothing, were curled up in a corner, daring not to move. Seeing someone coming, they became even more nervous and covered their sensitive parts, not daring to lift their heads.

Lin Zhen walked past them with a blank expression. The two girls were very pitiful, but he wouldn’t foolishly show any compassion. He wouldn’t risk the bigger picture over such minor matters.

After looking around, he saw various rare alien beasts, and some had already been killed. The living ones were also pitiful. Fortunately, there were no Kirin cubs. Otherwise, Lin Zhen wondered if he could resist taking action.

As they were about to turn back at the last corner, Lin Zhen noticed a small fox in a tiny cage in the corner.

It was a white fox, about the size of a regular puppy, and its fur was dirty.

The little fox had a pair of large eyes. When Lin Zhen passed by, it lifted its head and took a glance.

“This was caught in Heavenly Ridge. It’s injured. We thought the beasts of Heavenly Ridge would all be extraordinary, but this one is quite ordinary. It’s not a Three-eyed Spirit Fox, nor a Three-Tailed Demon Fox, and not a Flying Fox. If it weren’t for its decent fur, we wouldn’t have bothered bringing it back. We’re short-handed because we’re setting off soon. Otherwise, we would have just killed it, skinned it, and made a white fox fur cloak. With that, we could get one or two million.”

It was evident that Long didn’t think much of this non-transformable little fox. But as Lin Zhen looked into its large eyes, he seemed to sense the pride and sadness within the small fox.

It was a… very human-like feeling.
