Chapter 1282

Chapter 1282: Chapter 1284: The Story of Sunflower Scar (Third Update)_1 Chapter 1282: Chapter 1284: The Story of Sunflower Scar (Third Update)_1 Lin Zhen never expected to encounter Sunflower Scar here.

In his impression, Sunflower Scar was a ruthless witch who killed without batting an eye, how could she possibly have anything to do with something as beautiful as music?

But the embroidered chair, stone table and the seven-stringed ancient lute on the watchtower all confirmed that she was the musician.

Under the moonlight of Illusion Town, Sunflower Scar’s features were as beautiful as a painting, her skin was like flawless porcelain, with her proud chin slightly raised, seeming less cold than before.

She glanced at Lin Zhen with eyes as brilliant as the stars, and slowly turned her head.

“You should be grateful that you are a newcomer and have never offended me before, otherwise you wouldn’t be leaving this watchtower.”

Lin Zhen also quickly regained his composure, knowing he couldn’t show any weakness in front of Sunflower Scar.

He chuckled, “Should I also be grateful that the moonlight tonight is so gentle, making you so much more amiable?”

Sunflower Scar’s eyebrows twitched slightly, but then she was calm again.

She didn’t want to fight tonight, and Lin Zhen was a person who had no direct relations with her.

“Since you could hear the lute and come here, it means you’re not a brute who only knows to cultivate.

If you’re willing, sit down and listen.

But remember to shut up.”

Lin Zhen didn’t hesitate and conjured a rocking chair next to him.

Over these years, he had accumulated a lot of stuff in his God Realm, including countless daily necessities.

He had as many as he wanted.

Lying on the rocking chair, Lin Zhen heaved a sigh of relief: “Alright then, let’s hear something you’re good at.”

Sunflower Scar glared at Lin Zhen fiercely: “I’m not here to take your requests.

Listen if you want, or get lost if you don’t.”

Lin Zhen gave an embarrassed smile.

He felt somewhat timid in the face of Sunflower Scar and did not argue, instead, he listened patiently.

Sunflower Scar didn’t pay attention to Lin Zhen.

She placed her fingers on the strings and began to play the lute again.

This time, her music drew Lin Zhen into an immersive state almost instantly.

Without a doubt, Sunflower Scar’s musical accomplishments had reached a considerably high realm.

She must have started practicing since she was a child.

The sound of the lute seemed to narrate the life of a girl.

The blissful childhood, playing under the protection of her parents, being adored by everyone.

Her reluctance to practice martial arts, running around in fields of golden sunflowers as a naive young girl, all these images were clearly reflected in her notes.

Suddenly, the notes took a sharp turn.

War swept across her homeland, leading to its destruction and the death of her parents amidst the chaos.

The girl was left with no choice but to flee.

She was bullied and humiliated.

Her grief and contempt were expressed through the notes.

This part moved Lin Zhen.

The girl had been through so much torment.

Non-human torment had turned the naive girl into a vengeful Rakshasa.

Following this was the sequence of the girl striving for strength and diligently cultivating.

Hatred propelled her to strive for advancement, not less than any man.

Facing years of cultivation, the brief notes made Lin Zhen empathize with her.

Then came a resounding rhythm.

The girl returned to her homeland and slaughtered all those who had brought humiliation, destruction, and harm to her — all without mercy!

War was ruthless; weapons showed no pity.

Many innocent individuals were implicated amongst them.

She killed relentlessly, venting her pent-up hatred, killing uncontrollably, turning rivers red with blood!

Having avenged her losses, she became permanently branded as a demoness.

The note then transitioned into a somber tone.

Amid revenge, the emptiness of her soul tormented her, causing her to lose the will to move forward.

After her revenge, she felt life had no meaning and once seriously considered suicide.

Although she later mustered the courage to embark on the long path of cultivation again, it was merely because it helped pass the dreary days.

She did not know the essence of cultivation or its ultimate purpose.

The notes of the lute flowed gently, and the days passed peacefully.

Although she had a goal — the sovereign position, these were not what she really wanted in her heart.

At the last melody of the lute, Lin Zhen seemed to hear the girl’s innermost thoughts.

What difference would it make to become the sovereign!

With the fading notes, Lin Zhen was still sighing inside.

This was perhaps the most miserable woman he had ever met, and also the strongest.

Without uttering a word or asking a question, Lin Zhen had already fathomed a rough understanding of Sunflower Scar’s past.

Without personal experience, it was impossible to infuse the emotions into the music so profoundly, reaching right into his heart and bones!

Even a Quasi-sovereign or a sovereign couldn’t accomplish this.

Lin Zhen felt his experiences were legendary enough, but excluding his rebirth, he still felt more fortunate compared to Sunflower Scar.

Everyone has a piece of bitter past, only, it is well concealed.

After the music ended, Lin Zhen clapped lightly and asked tentatively, “Can I talk now?”

Sunflower Scar, in no particular mood, replied indifferently, “Aren’t you already talking?”

“I admire your musical prowess.

But there’s one thing: a woman’s desires differ from a man’s.

Men view the pursuit of higher potential as the lifelong motivation, while women tend to be more emotional.

Today…you have shown me a different side of you.”

Sunflower Scar smiled with a hint of mockery: “Didn’t expect the Demon Queen in your eyes to be such a pitiful creature, huh?

You better keep your cheap sympathy and pity to yourself.

I, Sunflower Scar, have never needed it.”

Having said that, she turned her eyes to Lin Zhen: “Did you just come here to listen to the lute?

Or perhaps…did you come to kill me, to challenge me?”

Lin Zhen was taken aback, “Why would you say such a thing?”

Sunflower Scar chuckled coldly: “Aren’t you getting along well with your senior brother?

Don’t think I don’t know what those despicable people are thinking.

They are simply planning to gang up and eliminate me before Eternal Mountain descends.

Aren’t you with them?”

Lin Zhen wanted to argue, but he didn’t know what to say.

“Tell them not to entertain illusions.

This is Illusion Town, where I currently rank second in points.

I can come back even if I am eliminated once.

Unless they can continuously eliminate me three or four times, there’s no chance.”

After finishing her speech, Sunflower Scar stood up, her cold eyes fell on Lin Zhen: “If you also want to join their actions and lay a hand on me, I am ready to fight you till the end!”

After saying that, she didn’t give Lin Zhen a chance to say anything.

She picked up her lute and left the watchtower with a jump.

Watching Sunflower Scar’s figure disappear into the night, Lin Zhen identified another weakness of hers.

This woman was still overly confident and underestimated her opponents.
