"I can’t come?!"

The door slowly closed, leaving only the husband and wife, and the little sister-in-law, in the house.

"Brother-in-law, my tummy hurts. I need to use the bathroom," Xiao Man said suddenly, clutching her stomach.

Lin Yanwan’s eyebrow shot up. "Did you eat something cold at school again?"

"Of course not! Xiao Man only ate one popsicle." She stuck out her tongue cutely, trying to get away with it by being adorable.

"So you did eat something."

Jiang Xia chuckled. "You can’t eat too many popsicles. They’ll give you an upset stomach. Remember that?"

"I’ll remember!" Lin Xiaoman sniffled.

"You little rascal. You’ll do it again next time, won’t you?" Jiang Xia pinched his sister-in-law’s cheek. "Come on, your brother-in-law will take you to the bathroom. See? The toilet paper is right there on the right."

"Uh-huh! Brother-in-law, go on out and keep Sis company! She’s missed you a lot these past few days," his sister-in-law said in a hushed voice.

"Xiao Man, you’re the best. As a reward, I’ll let you watch the newest episode of Cat and Mouse later."

The two of them exchanged a knowing glance, as if they had just made some secret deal.

After finally getting his sister-in-law settled, Jiang Xia at last had a chance to take his wife’s hand.

"Babe, what brought you here?"

"Hmph, you don’t want me here? Fine, I’ll take Xiao Man and leave right now." As she spoke, she pulled her hand away and pretended to leave.

"Hey, hey, of course not! I’m overjoyed! I was just a little curious, that’s all."

Jiang Xia hurriedly hugged her. Lin Yanwan only struggled symbolically for a moment before leaning gently into his embrace, closing her eyes and breathing in his scent.

"I went to pick up Xiao Man from school, and she said she wanted to come see you. Then your mom dragged us both over," she said.
