Chapter 270: Chapter 267: I Can’t Hold It Anymore, Can You Come With Me to the Bathroom?

At 9:00 PM, the thunderstorm showed no signs of stopping. It seemed like the heavens were determined to keep the two of them in the office overnight.

Lin Yanwan was watching a movie when she suddenly felt an urgent need to pee. She looked up at the darkness of the reception area, and just then, another clap of thunder rumbled outside.

She’d wanted to go to the restroom, but the thought of having to open the office door and cross a stretch of hallway made her lose her nerve.

The sharp whistle of the wind howled through the hallway outside, and the voice-activated lights flickered on and off. Lin Yanwan’s mind immediately jumped to a scene from a horror movie.

—An empty office building, a mournful wail carried on the wind, a beautiful woman heading to the restroom alone, the hallway lights suddenly going out, followed by a series of terrifying and bizarre supernatural events.

Just thinking about it sent a shiver down her spine.

She would rather hold it until morning than go pee at a time this creepy!

And so, half an hour later, Lin Yanwan was squirming, her legs pressed together and her hands clutching her lower abdomen.

Jiang Xia glanced at her, confused. "Stomachache?"

"No..." she bit her lip, her face bright red. "I drank too much water this afternoon, and I have to pee. I... I can’t hold it anymore. Will you come to the restroom with me? I’m scared to go alone."

Jiang Xia chuckled in amusement. "Let’s go."

He looked up at the gloomy, menacing hallway and instantly understood why his wife was scared. She was such a coward; sending her to the restroom by herself felt like it would be the death of her.

"If you had to go, why didn’t you tell me sooner? Holding it in like that isn’t good for your bladder."

"I saw you were busy," Lin Yanwan said in a small voice.

"Silly wife, what could be more important than you?"

Jiang Xia stood up from his desk, grabbed a pack of tissues, and led his wife toward the office door.

Lin Yanwan took a deep breath, clung tightly to his arm, and warned, "You’d better not scare me later!"

Jiang Xia didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "When have I ever scared you? I don’t even have enough time to dote on you."

He flipped the switch on the reception area wall, and the lights came on. Then he took out his key and opened the door. The moment they stepped out of the office, they were hit by a bone-chilling gust of wind.

Jiang Xia knew that a window must have been left open somewhere on the floor, allowing the fierce wind to pour in and create a draft in the hallway.

But Lin Yanwan didn’t see it that way. The wind sent a deep chill through her heart. If Jiang Xia hadn’t been by her side, she would have already bolted back into the office, deadbolted the door, and not let any demon or monster get in.

She would rather pee in a water bottle than go to the restroom in such terror.

’This is way too scary.’

Jiang Xia patted the back of his wife’s hand to reassure her. No matter what, he was there.

The restroom wasn’t far from their office, only about 30 meters away, but the path led past several other company suites, some of which were not yet occupied.

If you glanced at the glass doors of those suites, you’d see nothing but pitch-black darkness inside. Paired with the voice-activated hallway lights that occasionally went out, it was the perfect recipe for terror.

Lin Yanwan simply closed her eyes and let Jiang Xia lead her forward. In the darkness, her heart pounded nervously.

"Are we there yet?" she whispered after silently counting for half a minute.

"Almost," Jiang Xia said with a chuckle, feeling the soft, supple press of her body against him.

A few seconds later, he stopped in front of the restroom. "We’re here."

Lin Yanwan slowly opened her eyes, but as luck would have it, the voice-activated light suddenly went out. She quickly squeezed her eyes shut again, trembling as she hugged Jiang Xia tightly.

"Didn’t you say we were here? Why... why is it dark?" A hint of a sob crept into her panicked voice. She was suddenly terrified that the person she was clinging to wasn’t Jiang Xia—that would be the nightmare of a lifetime.

"Er... the voice-activated light just went out. Try opening your eyes again now."

Hearing his voice again, Lin Yanwan slowly opened her eyes a crack. Before her was a bright white light, illuminating the sign for the restroom. To the left was the men’s, and to the right, the women’s.

"Go on in. I’ll wait for you right here," Jiang Xia said.

Lin Yanwan craned her neck to peek into the women’s restroom. It was silent, and there wasn’t a soul inside. Still, she was terrified. What if she ran into something... unclean? After all, she’d heard far too many ghost stories about restrooms growing up.

"You... why don’t you come in with me?" she stammered, her face flushed.

"Uh, that’s not a good idea, is it? Don’t worry, there’s no such thing as—"

"Don’t say it!"

Lin Yanwan shot him a glare, and Jiang Xia managed to swallow the word "ghosts" that had been on the tip of his tongue.

"There are no other women here right now, so what’s the big deal?" Lin Yanwan continued, trying to justify it.

"Alright."

Resigned, Jiang Xia followed his wife into the women’s restroom. She kept her head down the entire time, not daring to look at the mirror in front of them.

"Okay, you can go now."

Lin Yanwan nodded and reached out to push open the first stall door, but it wouldn’t budge. Every hair on her body stood on end.

She swallowed hard, scrambled back a few steps to grab Jiang Xia’s hand, and whispered in a trembling voice, "I... I think there’s someone inside!"

Jiang Xia froze. ’No way,’ he thought. ’Did I really just stumble into a scene straight out of a ghost story?’

He boldly gave the door a push, while Lin Yanwan squeezed her eyes shut, her heart in her throat. She was terrified of seeing something gruesome. ’What if there was a dead body locked inside?’

Jiang Xia applied a little pressure, and the stall door swung open. It had just been stuck. There was nothing inside.

For a second there, he really thought his rebirth into a modern setting was about to turn into a tale from *Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio*.

"Okay, go on," Jiang Xia said, exasperated. ’Next time, we are definitely not staying overnight here,’ he thought. ’Look what a wreck it’s made of my wife.’

Lin Yanwan’s face reddened. She knew she was a coward; the slightest thing out of place was enough for her overactive imagination to scare her half to death.

She walked into the stall, and seeing Jiang Xia about to move out of her line of sight, she cried out, "Just stand right there! Don’t move."

She wasn’t going to close the stall door, either. If she closed it and then couldn’t get it open again, that would be the thing to truly scare her to death.

Jiang Xia’s expression was strange. ’Using the restroom right in front of me? Has she awakened some new kink, or is she really this scared?’

Lin Yanwan couldn’t care less what he was thinking. The urge to pee was overwhelming. She hastily pulled down her pants, and the moment she squatted, the floodgates opened.
