After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 234 - 232: Foreign Horse Knight
Chapter 234: Chapter 232: Foreign Horse Knight
The two computers came to a total of 11,000 yuan, paid for from the company account, so they naturally needed to get an invoice.
After leaving Baonao Hui, the three of them went their separate ways back to campus. The computers would be delivered, so all they had to do was wait for them back in their dorms.
"Anything else you want to buy?" Jiang Xia asked his girlfriend.
She thought for a moment. She had all the daily necessities she needed and had brought plenty of clothes from home, so she shook her head. "There’s nothing I need. But you, on the other hand... you probably didn’t bring many clothes, did you? You can’t keep wearing the same few outfits. Let me buy you some new clothes."
"Let’s forget it for today. Military training starts tomorrow, so we’ll be in uniform all day anyway. We can buy clothes some other time."
Jiang Xia squeezed her hand and smiled. "Babe, how about we go buy a vehicle first?"
Lin Yanwan frowned slightly. "Isn’t it a bit too early to be buying a car?"
Even though there was over three million yuan in the company account, restructuring the studio was going to be expensive. Most importantly, cars weren’t cheap.
"Where did your mind wander off to? I meant a bicycle," Jiang Xia chuckled. "Besides, I haven’t even gotten my driver’s license. I couldn’t drive a car even if we bought one."
"Huh?!"
Lin Yanwan blinked. ’Oh, a bicycle.’
"I can get behind that."
"Alright, let’s go. How many should we get?"
"Just one should be enough, right?"
Lin Yanwan said quietly. ’If we only have one, I can sit on the back and wrap my arms around Jiang Xia’s waist. Plus, I won’t have to pedal, which saves a lot of energy.’
"One it is, then."
Jiang Xia smiled and pulled his girlfriend toward the bicycle shop across the street.
He hadn’t known much about bicycles in his past life. Operating on the principle of "looks first, as long as it rides," he picked out a very stylish women’s commuter bike.
After all, he wouldn’t be riding it alone. He had to give his girlfriend a ride, too.
According to the shop owner, it was a bestseller. It was equipped with a five-speed shifter, and it was a popular model among female university students.
Jiang Xia didn’t hesitate, dropping 300 yuan for it on the spot. He charged it to the company account again, figuring he’d just write it off as fitness equipment.
"Your Highness, please mount your steed. Your knight is here, ready to serve." Jiang Xia patted the rear seat, his deadpan expression making Lin Yanwan want to laugh.
When it came to making her happy, Jiang Xia was a pro.
"Knights ride horses. You’re a cyclist at best."
"Heh, this steed only has two wheels for now, but sooner or later, I’ll trade it up to a big four-wheeled BMW for you."
Lin Yanwan hopped on, sitting sidesaddle, and gently wrapped her arms around his waist. "Alright, alright, my great BMW-riding knight, let’s get going."
"As you wish."
Jiang Xia gave the pedals a firm push, and the bicycle glided forward. They entered campus through the southeast gate and followed the road.
A gentle breeze tousled their hair as pale golden sunlight filtered through the leaves, dappling their shoulders. Neither of them spoke, but happiness radiated from their faces. The scene was utterly serene and beautiful.
Lin Yanwan closed her eyes, gently resting her head against his back. She felt an unprecedented sense of security.
Jiang Xia felt that same warmth, the sweet feeling of new love filling his heart.
He pedaled at a leisurely pace, taking in the scenery along Xuetang Road. Over twenty minutes later, they arrived at Bauhinia Apartment. The same trip on foot would have likely taken more than an hour.
’The concept of bike-sharing could really be a big deal,’ he suddenly thought. ’After all, not everyone wants to buy their own bicycle.’
’I could pilot it here at Tsinghua first, to solve the campus transportation problem. Then, slowly expand to other universities, then the entire Imperial Capital, then radiate out to the surrounding cities, and finally, go nationwide.’
’But the concept of a time-based rental model is still too advanced for now. The main problem is that the hardware to implement it doesn’t exist yet. Plus, things like QR codes and more convenient mobile payment methods are also limiting factors.’
’Speaking of which, if I were a programmer, this rebirth would have let me bring so many things into existence ahead of schedule. But unfortunately, I’m completely clueless when it comes to software development. I’m just a damn artist.’
"Babe, just leave the bike downstairs from your dorm. When we both have classes, we can ride together," Jiang Xia said.
"Mhm."
"Want to get something to eat now?"
"I’m not hungry yet," Lin Yanwan said.
They had eaten at the all-you-can-eat barbecue until after two o’clock, and since it was only just past six now, the food had barely been digested. In any case, one never had to worry about going hungry at Tsinghua. The Taoli Garden Restaurant behind the dorms even sold late-night snacks until very late.
"Then let’s not eat. I’ll head back to my dorm. The computer delivery should be arriving soon."
"Okay."
Jiang Xia locked the bike and handed one of the keys to his girlfriend for safekeeping. ’Starting today,’ he thought, ’I’m a vehicle owner, too.’
He bought three bottles of soda downstairs and returned to his dorm to find all three of his roommates present.
’Unlike in my previous life, where my roommates spent all their free time playing games,’ he mused. The top students who got into Tsinghua spent most of their time studying.
Su Qing turned to look at Jiang Xia. "I put your books and military training uniform on your desk. The opening ceremony is early tomorrow morning, and then it’s military training."
"Thanks, Nanny Su. You’re the best." He smiled and handed out the sodas, one for each of them.
"Brother Jiang, I saw you at the registrar’s office this morning," said Zhou Zijian. "Were you off on another date with your girlfriend?"
"Haha, something like that."
"Brother Jiang, you’re the man. Successful in your studies and in love—I’m so jealous. You have no idea. Our class has over thirty guys and only five girls, and they’re not even that attractive. At this point, any girl who looks even remotely normal seems like a goddess to me."
Zhao Ning had a pained expression as he spoke. ’It’s a programmer’s destiny to be forever alone.’
"There’s no need to rush it. Once you develop a great app and start making some real money, you think you’ll have any trouble with excellent women throwing themselves at you?"
"Sigh. If only it were that easy."
Jiang Xia just smiled and said nothing. ’I could definitely give my roommates some pointers about the future, but now isn’t the right time. I should at least wait until those two have developed some solid programming skills.’
He sat in his chair and flipped through a textbook for his major. ’I’ve learned a lot of this in my past life,’ he realized. The fundamental principles of animation hadn’t really changed much over the years.
’It’s just that with the rapid development of software, the efficiency of animation production has improved dramatically.’
’In another ten years or so, powerful AI technology will sweep the globe. By then, you’ll be able to generate an entire animation with just a few prompts, eliminating the need for even the most basic manual work.’
A moment later, his phone suddenly rang.
"Hello, is this Jiang Xia? Your computers have been delivered."
