Chapter 466: Chapter 282: This Idiot Isn’t Making Money Anymore?
The assistant went to buy fruit while Han Guangqi and his secretary headed out.
Once outside, Han Guangqi was dealt another heavy blow.
Mu Xing’s house-brand beef, the noodle restaurant’s soup base, the bottled sour plum drinks, and the craft fruit wines—customers were hauling them out by the cartload, as if they were free.
Han Guangqi hadn’t seen a sight like this in all his years.
They returned to the car, and before long, the assistant came back with the oranges.
“Let’s all try one and see how they taste.”
The three of them peeled the oranges. After a taste, they exchanged glances, but the assistant and the secretary didn’t dare to speak.
“Just say what you’re thinking. No need to hold back.”
“President Han, I think they taste fine. They’re actually quite sweet.”
Han Guangqi didn’t know how Huipin’s oranges tasted, but the one he was holding was undeniably sweet.
“Try the others. See if they’re all like this.”
The assistant and secretary peeled the rest of the oranges, tasting a slice from each one.
“Just be honest. I want your genuine opinion.”
“They really are sweet. Getting oranges of this quality for this price is an incredible deal.”
“Oh!”
The secretary exclaimed, “I was so focused on tasting them, there aren’t any whole ones left. We can’t return them now.”
“That’s easy. I’ll just go buy some more and then return those.”
“Don’t buy more. Take these back just as they are. Tell them you tasted every one and they weren’t sweet. I want to see if they’ll actually give you a refund.”
“That’s impossible, isn’t it? After we’ve eaten them like this.”
The assistant could manage returning them if they had only eaten one and brought back the rest.
But to return them in this state… even he was a bit embarrassed.
‘A person needs to have some dignity, and this is just going too far.’
“Don’t they pride themselves on good service? They even say you can return them if they’re not sweet. I’d like to see if that’s just a slogan.”
“Understood.”
Since his boss had given the order, the assistant had no choice but to do as he was told.
As the assistant walked away, Han Guangqi watched his back for a moment, then couldn’t help himself. He opened the car door and got out.
“President Han…”
“I’m going to follow him and see.”
With Han Guangqi out of the car, the secretary had no choice but to follow. They walked over to the customer service counter together.
There was one person in front of the assistant who had bought the highest-grade beef to give as a gift, but noticed the packaging was damaged on the way out and wanted to exchange it.
The process wasn’t complicated. The customer service staff quickly took care of it.
The assistant walked up, holding the oranges.
“Sir, how can I help you?”
“Um…”
The assistant felt awkward and for a moment didn’t know how to begin.
He really didn’t want to do this. He felt it was completely shameless.
He took a deep breath, bracing himself for a dirty look.
“I bought some oranges a little while ago. I had a few friends try them, and we found they don’t taste good. I’d like a refund.”
Everyone nearby turned to look, murmuring among themselves as they stared at the assistant.
“That guy’s got some nerve. He ate them all and now he wants a refund? How shameless.”
“Well, it takes all kinds to make a world. There’s no shortage of shameless people.”
“I could never bring myself to do something like that.”
Although the assistant couldn’t make out what people were saying, he could see the looks of disgust on their faces.
He was cringing so hard he could have dug a hole with his toes.
“Okay, do you still have the receipt?”
“I don’t.”
“Can I see the payment record then?” The female clerk was still very polite.
The assistant paused.
The secretary had bought the oranges; he didn’t even have the payment record.
“Sorry, my friend bought them, so I can’t show you the payment record.”
“Could I see the oranges you have, please?”
“Here.”
The assistant handed over what was left of the oranges.
The clerk took the oranges and walked over to a middle-aged man. They both looked at the oranges and exchanged a few quiet words before she returned.
“Sir, you feel the oranges aren’t sweet, is that correct?”
“Yes.”
“We just need you to verify how much you paid for them, otherwise I won’t know the correct amount to refund.”
“So you *can* give me a refund?”
“Yes.”
“Wait a moment.”
The assistant messaged the secretary, and she quickly sent him a screenshot of the payment.
The clerk saw it and typed something into her computer.
“Sir, you spent a total of 18.60 yuan on these oranges. The money has been refunded to the account.”
The clerk smiled and said very politely,
“We are very sorry for the bad experience. We will now compensate you with a 10-yuan coupon, which you can use directly on your next shopping trip, with no minimum purchase.”
Faced with this kind of service, the assistant was dumbfounded.
‘They ate all the oranges, not only did I get a refund, but they even gave me a ten-yuan coupon?!’
‘What kind of service is this?’
‘You can’t find a single thing wrong with it!’
‘Even as a Huipin employee, I want to shop here from now on.’
“Thank you, but I don’t need the coupon.”
The assistant slinked away shamefully while the surrounding customers were abuzz with discussion.
“Berkeley’s service is incredible! They ate the oranges like that and still got a refund?”
“If it were me, I’d definitely be too embarrassed to ask for a refund.”
“It was only 18.60 yuan, and they even gave a 10-yuan coupon. Their boss deserves every penny they make.”
Amid the murmuring of the crowd, the assistant returned to Han Guangqi’s side.
“President Han, they really refunded it. Their attitude was perfect, too. You can’t find a single thing to complain about.”
Han Guangqi had seen the whole thing unfold. Faced with this situation, he was at a loss for words.
