After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

Chapter 2189: Theme Park Construction: Ongoing

The discussion shifted to what kind of trouble they could safely cause in Hassen, ranging from bullying evil and immoral locals to stealing industries.

They even began discussing how to rescue the rest of the dwarves.

At this, the dwarves there became very excited and raised their hands as if wanting to join the fight that hadn’t even happened yet.

Oslo’s eyes twitched. "Please remember there are spies inside the territory." Please remember we really can’t go against a City yet...

"..."

Everyone immediately behaved, and the dwarves furtively put down their hands as if they hadn’t been raised a second prior.

As much as they were annoyed with Hassen—all the way back to Valov’s attack, and some people in-the-know all the way back to the then-Guia Village—it was not the time yet.

Of course, if they decide to start a fight themselves, Alterra would fight back. They just had to be ready to defend themselves and make counterattacks.

With the addition of these dwarves, weren’t their chances even better?

At this, Oslo couldn’t help but ask Taiso. "What was Elder Vooz’s specialty, if you don’t mind me asking?"

If one asked a dwarf about their specialty or specialization, then it really meant they could do it very, very well.

Taiso looked at him. "Explosives."

Oslo’s eyebrows rose. He remembered how Valov Town used bombs on them and how it was revealed that the explosives had actually come from Hassen. Could those be from the hands of their tribemate?

He never blamed the dwarves for that damage, of course.

He was more excited with the fact that the bomb makers’ tribemates were here. If they could also make versions of it, then these little things would definitely raise Alterra’s military might even further than expected.

...

After they found out that Taiso had already done the burial rites for Vooz, the other Eastern dwarves calmed down a bit, vowing to visit later.

Taiso was then pulled somewhere, which happened to be their original destination, anyway.

This was the ongoing construction of the theme park, which was a beloved project for everyone, even if it seemed unnecessary compared to various other amenities in Alterra.

Right now, the large 5-hectare area was partitioned off with covered fences so few people could actually see what was going on inside, but it didn’t stop people from occasionally finding the fence in anticipation; it was as if the wall would be taken down any time.

Five hectares in area wasn’t big for a theme park—in Terran, this was a small theme park at best— but here, where there was no such thing, such an area dedicated to it was massive.

This area could house thousands of people, after all, so many locals were a bit cynical when they heard about this project.

Alterrans didn’t care for their opinions, though. Thanks to their mid-rise buildings, they didn’t lack residences, even if they got a bit unconventional with their land use. What they needed was spiritual sustenance! A theme park was a major source of dopamine, okay?

Anyway, at this time, the pathways, roads, street lighting, utilities, and so on had already been set up in the cordoned area. It just needed the actual rides themselves. Other than that, the manual buildings to house the commercial areas and shops were also undergoing construction.

The easiest rides to make were those with simple mechanisms. For example, the giant swings and merry-go-rounds.

There would also be carnival games that wouldn’t need many mechanisms. They had a lot of these in their arcades and fairs, so they’d just build them on a larger scale here.

There would also be mazes, funhouses, and parks interspersed between the (future) rides, ensuring there was no aesthetic fatigue or people getting overwhelmed with everything within sight.

There was a special sense of anticipation whenever people walked around and explored things on their own, bit by bit.

They would also add plenty of stores, souvenir shops, food stalls, and so on in between. These were sure to make a lot of money, especially when they were placed in areas where people would hang out.

The food and the like would follow the actual theme of the park, which was still being decided upon, though they did have a top choice. Anyway, they were still finalizing the mechanisms of the rides, and the concepts could be added while they were being built later on.

There would be a mix of exciting rides, leisurely rides, and even functional rides.

For example, there would also be miniature trains that went around the park so people could go from one end of the park to another in style. It would be built at a height for a good view of the park. There might even be park goers who’d go here first to get an overview of the park before going around.

The freedom of choice due to the vast options and paths was certainly one of the charms of a well-designed theme park.

Other than the main theme they were considering, there would be plenty of details that would adopt local elements, which the locals would also appreciate and empathize with.

For example, some lamps and bollards might have carvings of familiar animals like the gugu bird.

Another example, the conceptual name of the functional train was the Broating Train, where there were sculptures of broats in front of the car, making it seem like the train was being pulled by them.

So far, for those among the rides that needed electricity to function, the mechanism for the merry-go-round was already almost done.

The energizing here was actually quite interesting. The electricity requirements for the heavy equipment naturally wasn’t small.

However, they found something interesting in this period of time: using the desert metal as a component in the solar panel’s solar cells increased its efficacy by folds!

With this improvement, there was no problem powering up the rides. They could also begin to make appliances since electricity no longer had to be rationed.

Of course, they still needed to test this more, and the official products were not yet released commercially, but considering the teams behind the products, it was as good as handled.
