Chapter 2199: Chapter 2203: He’s Already Been Let In
Has this girl gone mad?!
"Brother!" The door suddenly swung open again, and Mo Bei’s face appeared in front of him. "Could you please bring him in first? I’ll... I’ll change clothes and tidy up a bit. This is too disrespectful."
"Alright."
Mo Wen agreed with a smile and stepped toward the stairs.
Behind him, the door slammed shut again, locking.
Mo Bei strode to the wardrobe, yanked it open, randomly pulled out a set of clothes, looked at it, felt dissatisfied, shook her head, tossed it aside, and rummaged through the wardrobe again.
Damn it, this wardrobe is either full of camouflage or work clothes, all prepared for training. She didn’t bring any other outfits this time.
She turned to one side and pulled out a T-shirt, quickly grabbed it from the hanger, slipped it on, and then pulled on a pair of work pants, scrutinizing herself in the mirror to ensure no injuries were visible. Only then did she pick up a comb and start arranging her hair. She moved too hastily, and, snap, a tooth of the wooden comb broke.
Raising her hand, she pulled the broken tooth out from her hair, looked up at herself in the mirror, and suddenly felt disheartened.
"Ha... Mo Bei, oh Mo Bei, you’re so foolish. Even if he comes, what does it represent?!"
Jiao Yang’s person isn’t her, she’s perfectly aware of that.
Given that, whether to meet or not hardly makes any difference.
These days, she hasn’t seen him, exhausting herself daily like a dog, nearly forgetting there’s anything other than training in this world. Why bother to see him?!
Throwing the broken comb on the table, Mo Bei raised her hand, grabbed the phone on the table, and dialed the living room.
The phone was answered by one of the staff.
"Tell Brother Wen not to let him in."
"But... Brother Wen has already let him in."
Mo Bei walked to the window, hid herself within the curtains, and looked downstairs.
From afar, she indeed saw the iron gate splitting open. Jiao Yang, dressed in casual wear, carrying a backpack, was walking into the driveway of the courtyard.
He had cut off his long hair, looking even younger. The sunlight shone upon him, and even in such casual attire, he still appeared dazzling.
He’s simply like that, whether alone or in a crowd, eternally radiant.
Suddenly, she recalled the day she first saw him, at the airport. She, amidst the back-and-forth flow of people, picked him out with just a glance.
On that day, when choosing him as her escape tool, it wasn’t entirely by chance.
Back then, she merely thought this man was so vibrant and deserved to play her boyfriend’s role.
Thinking of this, Mo Bei once again slightly raised the corners of her lips.
Ultimately, it was all just her wishful thinking.
"Have Brother Wen take the phone."
The staff, not daring to delay, quickly held down the receiver. "Brother Wen, Miss’s call."
Mo Bei?
Mo Wen stood with arms crossed in the hallway, watching the approaching young man. Hearing the staff’s voice, he walked over, somewhat puzzled, and took the call.
"Hello, Xiao Bei?"
"Brother, tell him I’m not here. Anything else, feel free to improvise."
Mo Bei casually said a single sentence, then hung up.
Listening to the disconnection tone, Mo Wen turned to gaze at Jiao Yang, who had already entered the hall, thoughtfully hanging up the phone.
As Jiao Yang walked in, he glanced around the living room. Without seeing Mo Bei, his gaze settled on Mo Wen, politely asking, "Excuse me, where is Xiao Bei?"
