Chapter 228: Chapter 245: The Vigorous Female

But when Bai Zhi looked up, she found Hu Yan gazing at her with a smile, his eyes full of mirth and doting affection.

Bai Zhi huffed and swung her feet, then patted his shoulder. “Let’s go! Onward!”

Her whole demeanor screamed that she was treating him like a personal chauffeur.

Hu Yan didn’t get angry. He simply obeyed, carrying her away.

That night, Hu Yan collected his debt with interest. So much so that by the time she woke up the next day, she was already on the Starship.

If Yue Junxiao went back alone and something happened, Bai Zhi would be devastated. Besides, after everything they had been through over the years, she was genuinely worried about him making the trip by himself.

They didn’t have anything urgent to attend to anyway. It was better to accompany him than to wait anxiously for news at home. That way, they could have some peace of mind.

Furthermore, Yue Junxiao was the youngest of their group and had an endearing personality. With something this significant, they just couldn’t bear to let him return by himself.

Even Sang Mo chose to come along. While his decision was mostly because of Bai Zhi, the fact that he was willing to make the trip at all was commendable.

By the time Bai Zhi woke up, the Starship was already more than halfway through its journey.

She was awakened by an unusual tremor, and her eyes met Hu Yan’s. He had come to check on her and asked with concern, “You’re awake? Are you feeling alright? The Starship hit some turbulence. It might be a little shaky, but it’s nothing serious.”

Bai Zhi shook her head slightly. “How long was I asleep?”

Her voice was a little hoarse when she spoke.

Hearing her voice, Yue Junxiao immediately rushed in, his face beaming with unconcealed excitement. He exclaimed, “Bai Zhi, you’re awake! You’ve been asleep for more than ten hours. We’re almost there!”

At this, Bai Zhi shot a silent glare at the culprit. Recalling his rather excessive actions from the previous night, Hu Yan rubbed his nose awkwardly. He coughed into his fist, the tips of his ears turning red as he quickly changed the subject. “I’ll… I’ll go get you something to eat.”

Just then, a cool voice came from the doorway. “By the time you two get around to it, Bai Zhi will have probably wasted away.”

Hearing the voice, everyone turned to look at the doorway.

Sang Mo stood there, one hand in his pocket and the other holding a tray of food. He was leaning nonchalantly against the doorframe, his gaze passing over the other two men in the room to land directly on Bai Zhi.

Seeing that all eyes were on him, he straightened up and walked inside.

He walked past Yue Junxiao and stopped at the bedside, offering the tray to Bai Zhi. His tone was as nonchalant as ever. “Here. Eat.”

‘But seeing this, Bai Zhi felt that Sang Mo had truly changed.’

‘The old Sang Mo would definitely be lounging on a soft couch right now. There’s no way he would be thoughtful enough to bring her food himself.’

Yue Junxiao’s eyes went wide with disbelief as he watched Sang Mo. He was even more shocked now than the time Sang Mo had inexplicably fought with Hu Yan for a seat, competing to be the one to put food on Bai Zhi’s plate.

‘After all, they all knew Sang Mo was the type who would never sit if he could lie down, and never stand if he could sit.’

‘And now, not only was he not lounging on his precious couch, he was actually serving Bai Zhi food?!!’

‘The shock factor was off the charts!!’

Bai Zhi picked up a drink first. More than hungry, she was incredibly thirsty. Her throat had been practically smoking from overuse the previous night, and she was parched.

She downed two-thirds of the drink in one go.

As the warm milk settled in her stomach, Bai Zhi finally felt human again. The raw, burning feeling in her throat subsided.

She put the cup back down and said in a hoarse voice, “Thank you.”

Sang Mo grunted softly in acknowledgment, then looked up at Yue Junxiao. He frowned slightly. “What’s with that look on your face?”

Yue Junxiao stared at him suspiciously. “Are you really Sang Mo?”

Upon hearing that, Sang Mo immediately channeled his spiritual power. “Want to find out?”

Yue Junxiao felt the oppressive spiritual power. No one besides an SSS-level individual could exert such pressure, and the number of people who had reached SSS-level was minuscule.

The moment Sang Mo did that, Yue Junxiao knew. It was definitely him.

The moment the spiritual power flared, Yue Junxiao instantly chickened out. He ducked behind Hu Yan, waving his hands frantically. “Nope, nope! I was just asking! Just asking!”

Bai Zhi got right out of bed. She pressed a pastry into Sang Mo’s hand, then gave a piece of fruit to Hu Yan and a steamed bun to Yue Junxiao.

A smile bloomed on Bai Zhi’s face. “I can’t possibly eat all this by myself. Come on, eat with me.”

And just like that, Bai Zhi defused the tense atmosphere.

Soon, the Starship arrived outside Fierce Tiger City.

Imprinted on the city gate was a somewhat faded Tiger Roar Seal. However, the spiritual power emanating from the tiger’s head served as a reminder that this was no ordinary mark—it was the lingering aura of a High-level Spiritual Beastman.

Anyone who tried to force the gate would be instantly subdued by it.

Seeing the unfamiliar Starship, the Beastman guards immediately hailed them to a halt. “This is Fierce Tiger City! Leave at once, or we will regard your presence as an act of hostility!”

Hu Lai revealed his Fierce Tiger City insignia. “I am Hu Lai, the City Lord’s personal attendant. This is my seal. This person here is the Young Master. I’ve already reported to the City Lord; you should have received notice that I would be bringing the Young Master home today. As for the others, they are the Young Master’s companions.”

After confirming Hu Lai’s identity, the guard’s gaze fell upon the person he indicated, Yue Junxiao. And sure enough, the young man’s features bore a striking resemblance to the City Lord’s.

Seeing this, the guard’s stern expression instantly melted into one of excitement. “You really found the Young Master? The City Lord sent word last night! He has been waiting for a long time! I’ll open the gate for you right now!”

The city gate was quickly opened from within.

Seeing the gate open, Hu Lai immediately extended his right hand, gesturing for Yue Junxiao to proceed. “This way, Young Master.”

Yue Junxiao gazed up at the massive Tiger Roar Seal on the gate. A wave of familiarity washed over him, making him feel a sudden, inexplicable nervousness.

After a moment, he pressed his lips together and finally started walking inside.

Hu Lai walked to the side to lead the way, with Bai Zhi, Hu Yan, and the others following close behind. The men Hu Lai had brought with him formed up the rear.

What Yue Junxiao and the others never expected was that they had barely stepped through the gate—in fact, they weren’t even fully inside yet—when they saw two lavishly dressed Beastmen and a female approaching to greet them. The female didn’t look the least bit delicate; on the contrary, she had a heroic and spirited air about her.

The heroic-looking female called out in a powerful, resonant voice, “Xiao’er!”

Yue Junxiao froze, stunned. ‘He seemed to be the only one here with “Xiao” in his name. For her to call him that… a faint suspicion formed in his mind, but he didn’t dare to believe it.’

‘After all… this didn’t seem to match what Hu Lai had told him at all.’

‘Hadn’t Hu Lai said that his mother was in poor health and physically weak from the grief of losing him?’

‘This woman, who looked even more energetic than he was, bore no resemblance whatsoever to the weak, ailing mother Hu Lai had described!’
