Chapter 293: THE TRUTH ABOUT TANG XIAOYU

"Yes. I just got off work a few hours ago." Guiying settled cross-legged against the headboard, laptop balanced carefully on his knees. "I got home not too long ago. What’s the time over there? Did you just land?"

"Yes. It took fourteen hours." Liuxian rubbed at his eyes, exhaustion visible even through the screen’s imperfect resolution. "I had to call and check on you before I get buried in work. It’s four in the morning here. I’ll do a little before I sleep, since work starts at eight."

"Then you should be resting, not calling me." Guiying’s brow softened despite the words, no real scolding behind them. "I’ll call you tomorrow. Focus on sleeping."

Liuxian was quiet for a moment, studying him through the screen, the way he used to study him across a room, like there was something worth memorizing in the ordinary shape of his face.

"Guiying." His voice dropped lower. "I love you. I’ll see you soon."

"I love you too." Something warm rose in Guiying’s chest, steadier than it had been all day. "Bye. Thank you for calling. I think I’ll actually sleep well tonight."

Guiying blew him a kiss before ending the call, thinking about what Fu Pei said. He decided to dismiss it.

Liuxian was his husband; he could vent his longing when they were apart. He liked being stuck to him; he didn’t mind it because he loved Liuxian.

If Liuxian didn’t hate it, he wouldn’t stop doing it. ℴℴ𝘮

Not calling Liuxian would only make him anxious; they would miss each other when they were apart. It was normal, and regardless of him calling Liuxian incessantly, he would still do his job quickly and return to him.

He would not let an outsider, who knew nothing about their relationship, tell him he was doing too much.

Guiying wrapped the blanket around his body; despite Liuxian’s absence, he had left enough pheromones behind. He was alone but not lonely.

Sleep slowly drew him in; while his husband was away, he would work hard to improve himself.

The next morning, knocking shattered the silence outside the bedroom, each strike landing against the wooden door in rapid succession with an urgency that immediately pulled Guiying from sleep.

It wasn’t the steady, measured rhythm Wang Chengli always used whenever he came looking for him, nor did it resemble the patient knocks of someone willing to wait.

Whoever stood outside was in a hurry.

Guiying opened his eyes almost immediately, the last traces of drowsiness disappearing the moment the knocking resumed.

Without bothering to put on his slippers, he swung his legs off the bed and crossed the room in quick strides before pulling the door open, only to find Fu Pei standing in the dimly lit corridor with a phone clutched tightly in one hand.

The bluish glow from the screen illuminated his face from below, making his already unpleasant expression appear even darker than usual.

Before Guiying could ask what had happened, Fu Pei shoved the phone toward him with a click of his tongue, the profanity already escaping his lips as though he’d been holding it back the entire walk over.

"We’ve got a fucking problem. Some bastard dumped your background all over Weibo, and the whole platform’s eating it up. You’re trending, but not for anything worth celebrating."

Guiying frowned slightly as he accepted the phone, his confusion lasting only a moment before Fu Pei answered the question he hadn’t yet spoken aloud. "Don’t ask me. Just read the damn thing yourself. I’ve already cursed enough people on your behalf this morning."

The page had already been opened.

At the very top sat an anonymous entertainment account with a verified badge beside its name. At the same time, the reposts, comments, and likes continued to climb at a frightening speed, the figures refreshing so rapidly that they seemed to increase every time the screen blinked.

THE TRUTH ABOUT "TANG XIAOYU" — THREAD

Everyone’s obsessed with this so-called mysterious art collector. It’s about time people learned who he really is.

His real name is Xue Guiying. "Tang Xiaoyu" was never anything more than a fabricated identity created to hide his shameful background from the public.

Born out of wedlock, he relied on his husband’s money and influence to force his way into high society, disguising himself as some mysterious collector while deceiving everyone from the very beginning.

Attached below are old photographs; their faces are blurred for obvious reasons.

And that isn’t even the worst part.

Multiple sources claim Xue Guiying has slept with numerous men over the years, becoming pregnant several times before secretly terminating every pregnancy.

He even had an inappropriate relationship with his own cousin, became pregnant with his child, and quietly got rid of the baby before anyone found out.

And if you think that’s shocking...He also slept with Shen Zihao.

Yes.

That Shen Zihao. The criminal who was recently sentenced to death.

All while pretending to be the devoted husband of Liu Liuxian. Is this really the kind of person luxury brands should continue working with?

Should someone like this be standing on international runways and representing respected companies?

The bedroom gradually fell into complete silence as Guiying’s thumb moved slowly across the screen, scrolling through the endless stream of comments gathering beneath the post.

Every refresh produced hundreds more, each one sounding more convinced than the last, as though strangers had suddenly become experts on a life they had never witnessed, confidently weaving together fragments of truth and outright fabrication until the lies began resembling a story people wanted to believe.

Some called him an illegitimate disgrace who had clawed his way into the upper class through Liu Liuxian.

Others mocked his marriage, insisting money was the only reason someone like him could ever stand beside a man of Liu Liuxian’s status.

At the same time, countless self-proclaimed insiders eagerly added details that had never happened, embellishing the rumors until they no longer resembled reality in the slightest.

Guiying read every line without the slightest change in expression.

The accusations surrounding his birth no longer carried enough weight to hurt him, nor did the fabricated pregnancies or the ridiculous claim involving Shen Zihao.

Those lies were so detached from reality that they barely managed to stir even a ripple within him, becoming little more than another reminder that the internet had never cared about truth as much as it cared about spectacle.

His thumb continued moving until it suddenly stopped, the abrupt motion causing the page to bounce lightly beneath his fingertip before settling back into place, while Guiying himself remained completely still, his gaze fixed upon a single sentence that quietly buried every accusation above it.

He even engaged in an inappropriate relationship with his own cousin...

The color drained from his face so quickly that even Fu Pei noticed it.
