Chapter 1404 728: Not Involving Legal Matters_2

Otherwise, Zi Ying's several commercial endorsements are very likely to fall through, and they might be blacklisted together. Our company can't withstand the pressure and hopes Zi Ying won't act in it, but she insists on performing, saying that she really likes this script. The company sent me to be the bad guy and talk to you about this matter."

Wu Mengting asked coldly, "So she personally still wants to act in this drama?"

Hao Xiaolian nodded, "She wants to act, but it's not realistic. As long as you agree, I will persuade her. This drama is good, but Qitian Media's capabilities are too strong. They have the power to make Zi Ying's brand partners terminate their contracts, and if so, Zi Ying's losses would be too great."

"Does Qitian Media really have such power?" Wu Mengting expressed doubt.

Hao Xiaolian smiled bitterly, "Don't you know? Qitian Media is a dominant player in our circle. Any project they fancy, they intervene forcefully. Our company had several projects that were aggressively funded by them, and Zi Ying lost a lot of resources to their Zheng Jingjing. Among them, the Shiseido endorsement was snatched by them using tactics, losing tens of millions. We can only harbor anger without expressing it, and try to avoid them."

"What background and connections do they really have?" Wu Mengting was genuinely curious.

Hao Xiaolian shook her head with a bitter smile, "I'm not very clear specifically, but everyone fears them, so there must be a reason for it."

After hearing this, Wu Mengting's anger slightly subsided.

The other party didn't intentionally want to breach the contract but was forced by this big demon, Qitian Media.

Wu Mengting slightly softened her tone and said, "I understand your point, but I think it's best to have another good discussion with Sister Ying. This drama was tailored for her and if she misses it, it's really a pity. If this drama is well made, not to mention consolidating and enhancing her fame, it might even elevate her career further."

Hao Xiaolian said helplessly, "It's mainly our company's stance, the senior management can't withstand Qitian Media's pressure. If Zi Ying insists on being the lead actress, the losses will be enormous."

Wu Mengting suddenly asked, "Do you think Qitian Media has our company completely cornered?"

Hao Xiaolian shook her head, "I really don't know about that. I only know that Qitian Media is very powerful now, and our company cannot withstand their pressure, so we are obliged to follow their requirements obediently. If someday you reconcile with Qitian Media, we can continue to collaborate with you."

Wu Mengting instantly expressed dissatisfaction with a cold hum, saying, "By then, I think it won't be necessary to collaborate with you anymore."

Hao Xiaolian felt a bit embarrassed and smiled apologetically, "You need to understand that this matter is very difficult for us too; we are caught in a bind."

Wu Mengting's tone turned cold, "I want to hear her personally tell me she's quitting. What you say doesn't count."

"Alright then." Hao Xiaolian nodded solemnly, "I will tell her when I get back. Really sorry, I apologize again. I'll take my leave now."

Hao Xiaolian knew that Wu Mengting was in a bad mood now, didn't want to stay longer, slightly bowed again, and then left her office.

After closing the office door, Hao Xiaolian let out a long breath and shook her head. It was hard being the bad guy, not only having to apologize at Fengmang Film and Television but also apologizing to Yang Ziyin and do her ideological work when she got back.

After leaving Wu Mengting's place, Hao Xiaolian specifically went to see the general manager, Lu Sijia, to apologize.

Not just because it's her company's request to avoid offending Fengmang Film and Television and Chen Feng, but also her personal wish to see Yang Ziyin maintain a relationship with Fengmang Film and Television in the future.

But unfortunately, if Yang Ziyin quits this time, Fengmang Film and Television might not collaborate with her in the future.

Wu Mengting quickly called Chen Feng to report the matter, then complained, "I valued her and trusted her so much before, even racking my brains to tailor this great script for her, and now she turns out to be a deserter. I misjudged her."

Chen Feng laughed, "Didn't Hao Xiaolian say that she personally wants to continue acting?"

Wu Mengting coldly hummed, "Those words might only deceive naive kids. With Zi Ying being such a big star, if she hadn't personally sanctioned it, how could Hao Xiaolian, as her agent, dare to unilaterally come to terminate the contract with us?"

"Makes some sense, but it may not be exactly as you think. Zi Ying personally really likes the script you wrote for her, previously even voluntarily reduced her pay. She genuinely wants to act in this drama."

"Perhaps, but I think the best outcome remains one, Yang Ziyin surely cannot withstand the pressure."

Chen Feng agreed, "Yes, since Qitian Media is so formidable, Yang Ziyin, being a big star, will most likely not withstand the pressure."

Wu Mengting said somewhat distressed, "The drama is originally centered around a female lead, tailored for her, if she quits, what do we do? Do we abandon this project?"

Chen Feng thought for a moment and said, "The project team is already established, and the preparations are almost complete, how can we abandon it? At worst, choose another person. Although the script was tailored for Yang Ziyin, it doesn't mean others cannot act in it, at most the screenwriter can modify some of the lead character's settings."

"Who can be found to replace Zi Ying at this moment?"

"First, look within our company; if no one is suitable, then recruit actresses publicly. We can always find someone suitable."

"If an uncelebrated actress is chosen to perform, the effect would surely be greatly reduced."

"As long as the script is good and filmed well, it doesn't require big stars to act, audiences will still buy it. You can rest assured about this."

"That may be true, but using big stars is certainly best, at least the ratings will be guaranteed."

"If the drama is bad, even if the biggest stars act in it, few would buy it."

"Alright, I understand. If necessary, I'll modify the script. However, is this project really to continue?"

"Of course, once an arrow is released, it can't be retrieved. The project team is established, and the main creative personnel are pretty much in place, certainly can't be abandoned halfway."

"Alright, you are the boss, you decide. Then I'll keep working hard."

"Yes, you just keep going. If anything happens, I'll take responsibility."

Listening to Chen Feng speak with such confidence, Wu Mengting also felt reassured, temporarily setting aside the pressure from Qitian Media.
