Chapter 535: Important Intelligence

Liam Grant was setting a trap for her. At this point, was he still suspecting that she was like them? Seeing that Nina Jacobs’s reaction was perfectly normal, Liam finally said, "She is your sister, but all she wants is for you to die."

"I don’t even know who this person is, and I certainly don’t want to listen to your nonsense," Nina replied, her voice dropping a few degrees. Why would Liam suddenly bring up Ianna Jacobs?

Liam sighed. "Nina, you probably don’t know this, but I already regret it. I had my reasons for breaking up with you back then. I think it was a massive misunderstanding."

He had indeed regretted it more than once. Nina seemed to possess some kind of magic; everyone who got close to her had strokes of good luck. In their previous life, the Stellarys Team hadn’t existed. Nor had the several Intermediate Superpower Users in the Stellarys Team, let alone the Dual Element Superpower Users. Nina’s own strength hadn’t been this formidable, either. Perhaps his initial choice in this life had been a mistake from the very beginning. Renee Strong was simply a jinx.

"There is no misunderstanding," Nina said flatly.

For some reason, her reply made him feel as if the surrounding temperature had dropped another few degrees. Liam continued to explain, "I know you still resent me, but I’ll definitely clarify everything with you in the future. However, I’ll be leaving for a while soon, which is why I came to warn you about Ianna."

Leaving? The only reason Nina hadn’t killed Liam was to keep him here and draw out answers to the mysteries from her previous life. And now he was leaving City D?

Murderous intent flashed in Nina’s eyes. Fortunately, the sky was growing dark, and Liam only noticed her words. "Where to?" she asked.

"The Drakonian Command Headquarters asked me to make a trip to the Arisdale Base. After all, I’ve made a great contribution." Sure enough, Nina still cared about him. Liam’s tone carried a renewed sense of confidence. He was the one who had issued the warning about the extreme cold weather. Although the people at the City D Base didn’t value him now, the Command Headquarters had specially sent someone to contact him. Of course, it was done in secret to ensure his safety. If he handed himself over to the state, his future would likely be smooth sailing. At the end of the day, he was different from everyone else.

Nina completely understood after hearing this. The people from the Command Headquarters likely wanted to contact him because of his precognitive dream regarding the extreme cold. But once he went there, regardless of how the Command Headquarters treated him, he would draw attention from all factions.

"That’s good," Nina said, suppressing the excitement in her eyes. Things were indeed developing in the direction she had anticipated. Her bait and long line were ready.

Liam, however, thought Nina was wishing him well. "I’m so glad you’re willing to listen to me. It’s safe here, and my sister will be staying here as well. Will you wait for me to return and give you a proper explanation?"

"When are you leaving?" Nina asked.

"In three months, though it might be sooner," Liam replied.

Three months? Nina felt a bit disappointed.

"That girl named Ianna is already here, which is why I came to warn you."

"How do you know about this person?" Nina asked, feigning ignorance. What truly puzzled her was why Ianna had shown up earlier than expected.

"I’ll naturally explain it to you in the future. Just listen to me and stay as far away from her as possible."

Liam’s words prompted Nina to activate her Five Senses Enhancement as soon as she returned to her bedroom. However, after searching for a while, she couldn’t pick up any useful sounds. She then opened the system. The journey back from Keldorn, combined with the high-intensity Superpower output over the past few days, had increased her Superpower Value by another two points. As long as she could raise it by four more points, she would be able to advance and become an Advanced Superpower User!

"The Arisdale Base?" Nina murmured. In her previous life, she had known very little about the Arisdale Base. All she knew was that it had cultivated many Superpower experts, given that it was the seat of the Command Headquarters. If she planned to go to the Arisdale Base later, it would be safest to advance to the status of an Advanced Superpower User first.

Three days later, the zombie horde crisis at the City D Base was officially resolved.

Nina received another massive sum of Crystal Cores, along with a batch of winter supplies to keep out the cold. A particularly large sum of those Crystal Cores had been delivered by someone on behalf of Adrian Paige. She accepted everything without hesitation. After all, her Superpower Energy Stones had absorbed a significant amount of Crystal Cores recently, and she would need a massive quantity every time she activated the Teleportation Array in the future.

It wasn’t until the afternoon of the third day that Nina went to visit Base Commander Justin Lawson.

Justin was overjoyed to see her. "You kid, you were gone for three whole months! That boy Ian Chandler hasn’t stopped talking about you." Justin looked remarkably hale and hearty. His voice was louder than before, and his complexion no longer showed any signs of illness.

Sipping the hot tea that Justin had personally handed to her, Nina smiled and replied, "I only dared to go out and train for so long because I knew the base had my back."

"Well said! Our base will always be your strongest backing." Justin found her words incredibly comforting. "Did you encounter anything interesting during your trip?" he asked. Knowing that Nina likely had business to discuss, he quickly cut to the chase. The intelligence she brought was almost always crucial.

"I did, but it’s mostly concerning our Drakonia." With that, Nina pulled a stack of documents and a wooden box from her bag. These were the materials she had looted from the spatial storage of a man named Julian Shaw when she ran into the Veridians on her journey. The documents detailed the distribution and status of various resource points within Drakonia’s borders.

Justin was horrified after reading just the first page. He shot up from the sofa and asked, "This is written in Veridia’s language. Where did you get this?"

"I found it on some Veridians. They were using our survivors as bait to scavenge for supplies, and they were even indiscriminately intercepting and killing people." Nina relayed what she had witnessed on her journey to Justin, omitting, of course, the part about the supplies she had claimed for herself.

"Outrageous!" Justin slammed his hand furiously against the desk, instantly creating a visible crack in the heavy wooden surface.

"Don’t get too angry, Mr. Lawson. I’ve already killed all of them," Nina consoled him.

She had killed them all?

"Good! Very well done! Those who encroach upon Drakonia must be eradicated immediately, without a moment’s hesitation!" Justin said, finally feeling his breathing steady a bit. However, the thought that this was merely the tip of the iceberg of what Nina had discovered filled him with renewed anxiety. This matter had to be reported to the Command Headquarters as soon as possible.

Upon receiving the notification, Adrian Paige hurried to Justin’s lounge. He hadn’t expected Nina to be there as well.

Adrian’s expression turned grim after reviewing the documents. "Are you saying you encountered Veridians within Drakonia’s borders? Where are they now?"

"I killed them all," Nina answered.

Adrian’s expression didn’t shift; he simply nodded. "This distribution map of resource points was leaked from the Drakonian Command Headquarters." He made no attempt to hide the truth, but his words sent a chill down Justin’s spine. A map leaked to a foreign country straight from the Command Headquarters?

"I suspected the Veridians knew something, but I never imagined they’d already gotten their hands on this," Adrian said, looking directly into Nina’s eyes.

Nina pushed the wooden box forward. "There’s also what’s inside here. I figure you should be aware of the existence of the so-called ’Holy Water.’ Someone has already started selling it at the Meridia Base, and they’re trading it for supplies, too."
