Li Yun felt like her head was going to explode.

‘That Xiang Ze actually chose to cooperate with the Main God System! How could any Beastman be that stupid?!’

Li Yun saw the Main God System trying to kill Xiang Ze to take control of his body. She knew if she didn’t run now, she would die!

A small blade she had hidden earlier appeared in her hand. She sliced through the vines binding her and frantically worked at the ropes. Seizing the moment while Xiang Ze was immobilized, she bolted for the exit.

‘Dad… Grandma… I want to live!’

Li Yun scrambled out, fleeing in a blind panic.

‘There’s something in the underground caves… something that can block the system.’

‘Even the System Main God couldn’t enter the caves to grab me directly. It had to order a Beastman to do it instead.’

‘To escape the system, this place is my only hope!’

System 006 shrieked in her mind, [Li Yun, you are forbidden to go down there!]

[If you go down there, you won’t be able to save your father!]

A few of the male beastmen in the mining area approached and asked.

“Female, is there anything we can help you with?”

Li Yun looked up, her eyes bloodshot. Clutching her head, she shoved aside the males in front of her. “Get lost! All of you, just get lost! Get out of here!!!”

Just as Nan Zishi emerged from the cave, she saw Li Yun.

“Li Yun!”

Li Yun’s vision wavered for a moment before she recognized Nan Zishi. “Nan Zishi!”

Nan Zishi ran to her, and Li Yun stumbled, collapsing into Nan Zishi’s arms.

Fighting through the splitting pain in her head, she warned, “Nan Zishi… run… The Main God System has bound itself to the Priest, Xiang Ze. It hasn’t found you yet, so run!”

Nan Zishi asked, “Is System 006 influencing you?”

“Yeah…” Li Yun’s voice was heavy. “Just run. Don’t worry about me. It’s better if one of us makes it out alive!”

Nan Zishi comforted her, “I’m not running. Don’t be afraid. I’m here. I’ll get us both out of here!”

Li Yun said, “No, the system is on me! I can’t get away! You have to run! Run!!!”

Without a word, Nan Zishi hoisted Li Yun onto her back. She was strong, and carrying the other girl required little effort.

Li Yun was beyond frustrated. “Nan Zishi, didn’t you hear me? I told you to run! Just run! I don’t want us both to die. Leave me!”

Nan Zishi said, “I can’t just leave you here.”

“Nan Zishi!”

She said, “Li Yun, I made a trip back to Earth. I saw your father and your grandmother.”

Li Yun clutched her head, sobbing quietly from the pain. “You went back? You saw them?”

‘How could she let anything happen to a girl this strong?’

She tightened her grip, holding Li Yun securely on her back, and said in a steady voice, “Yes. Li Yun, your father is still alive. He’s waiting for you to come home. So you have to fight a little harder. We’re going to survive this together!”

Li Yun’s slender arms wrapped around her, clinging with dependence. “It’s so hard, Nan Zishi. So hard. I’ve been fighting to survive for so many years… I don’t think I can hold on much longer.”

“I’m here. Don’t be afraid, Li Yun. We’ll carve out a path to survival together.”
