Chapter 295: Chapter 294: Asher is Also Starting to Look Like a Father

Coming out of the cabin, we found the entire ship empty. Everyone had gone into their rooms and didn’t dare come out.

After all, you could only get food with a room card now. If someone stole your card, you’d starve to death.

Many people had already formed gangs and started robbing others of their room cards just to get more food to hoard.

Asher and I were each holding a child, while Lucas Grant held Gigi’s hand as we hurried toward the elevators.

We had to get back to our room and lock the door as quickly as possible. It was dangerous out here.

Mason Carter glanced around and whispered, "Get in the elevator, quick. Something feels off."

Sure enough, just as the elevator doors opened, several tall men holding weapons like clubs and knives walked out.

The moment the men saw us, they grinned like hunters who had just spotted their prey.

"What floor are you on? Let’s see your room cards," the tall man in the lead asked in a deep voice.

Mason Carter quickly took out a white room card. "Hey, man, we’re just on the standard floors. We came out to find something to eat. The kids are hungry..."

The man spat in disgust. He thought a white card was bad luck, since it could only get you simple food like milk, bread, and eggs.

"Boss, a white card is better than nothing. Let’s just take them. It’s an extra person’s worth of food," a man behind him suggested.

The leader nodded. "Makes sense. Hand over all your room cards, and we won’t have to get rough. Otherwise, don’t blame us for..."

Before the man could finish, Asher raised a hand, grabbed his head, and SLAMMED it against the wall...

"..." I was stunned. ’How could someone so tall and muscular be slammed against the wall so easily by Asher?’

Asher was taller than him, but he definitely didn’t look as built.

Besides, how could he just start a fight at the drop of a hat? ’There are two kids here! Shouldn’t he be setting a good example?’

I subconsciously looked down at Adrian Lancaster. "Um, your father is just having a... friendly chat with them."

Adrian Lancaster’s eyes sparkled. They looked just like Asher’s.

He clapped his hands happily. "Daddy is amazing."

That thoroughly enraged the group of thugs. "Shit, you’re asking for it! Get him!"

Felix Foster stepped forward, kicked one of them away, and followed up with a punch, his movements incredibly fluid.

Lucas Grant wasn’t much of a fighter, but he knew how to bite. He bit down on one guy’s finger and used the opportunity to land an elbow strike.

Mason Carter was timid, trembling as he shielded me, Gigi, and the two children.

I quickly pulled Gigi and the two little ones into the elevator.

Adrian Lancaster’s eyes were fixed on Asher, as if he were observing him intently.

I whispered, "Adrian, what are you looking at?"

"Daddy could clearly kill them in the shortest amount of time, but he didn’t. Why?" Adrian Lancaster couldn’t understand.

’There are so many vital points on a person. All you have to do is strike one, and killing someone is simple.’

’So why is Daddy wasting energy fighting them?’

I froze for a second and looked at Asher. If Adrian Lancaster hadn’t said anything, I wouldn’t have noticed... ’So, Asher was already, without realizing it, putting on a show for the kids.’

’It turns out he subconsciously wanted to be a good father, too.’

I smiled. For some reason, the feeling was wonderfully strange.

Even though we were in great danger...

"Because your father knows to respect life. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, you must never use excessive self-defense," I explained in a low voice.

Adrian Lancaster and Stella Caldwell tilted their heads, seemingly processing what I’d said.

"Daddy, hit his jaw hard. The jaw is connected to the cranial nerves," Stella Caldwell said with perfect calm.

Asher glanced at his angelic little daughter, then landed a backhand punch on his opponent’s jaw.

Just as she predicted, the man swayed and fell to the ground with a THUD.

Stella Caldwell then looked at the man fighting Felix Foster. This one was obviously trained; he kept his chin protected throughout the fight. "Mister, go for his eyes."

The man instinctively raised his hands to block his eyes. Felix Foster punched him in the stomach, then knocked him down with a hook.

Felix Foster looked back at Stella Caldwell in utter shock. "Little girl, you called me ’Mister’? Where do I look like a ’Mister’ to you!"

Meanwhile, Lucas Grant, relying on his genius instincts, lured his opponent to the stairwell, kicked him down, and ran back to the elevator, gasping for air.

"Try again. Call me ’big brother.’" As the elevator doors closed, Felix Foster was still hung up on the fact that Stella Caldwell had called him "Mister."

"But you’re clearly the same age as my daddy," Stella Caldwell said, looking at Felix Foster.

Felix Foster froze and fell silent.

Lucas Grant looked at Felix Foster. "What do you mean, ’same age as her dad’?"

"Don’t ask so many questions," Felix Foster snapped.

Lucas Grant patted his chest, the fear finally hitting him. "Let’s just get back to the room."

The elevator stopped at the top floor.

We stepped out of the elevator cautiously. In the hallway, we saw a man who had been stabbed to death. He looked like one of this floor’s wealthy residents, no doubt.

Someone from the lower floors must have come up, killed the rich people here, and stolen their room cards.

"Shh." I made a hushing gesture and started walking slowly toward our room.

CLICK! A room door opened, and several thuggish-looking men walked out. They were clearly not the wealthy residents of this floor, but the murderers who had stolen their cards.

I sucked in a sharp breath. We all just stood there, staring at each other.

"Come on out, we’ve got work to do," the man shouted back into the room. A whole swarm of five or six more thugs poured out, all covered in tattoos. Some were even still pulling up their pants...

"Help me, help..."

A woman’s cries came from inside the room.

It was obvious: the rich man had been killed, and his woman was being brutalized by these men.

’So this is human nature...’

"Well now, this little chick is pretty cute." A bolder one reached out, about to touch my face.

"And there’s a little girl here, not even legal..." the man behind him, still pulling up his pants, smirked at Gigi.

In a situation like this, they wouldn’t even spare a child.

These weren’t people anymore. They were beasts.

Gigi hid fearfully behind Lucas Grant and Felix Foster.

I pushed the two children behind me and watched the thugs warily.

"Same old rules. Kill the men, keep the women and the room cards," the leader said, scratching his hair. He pulled out a knife and lunged at Asher and the others.

One of them tried to drag me into the room. I went with him willingly, kicking the door shut behind me.

’Killing in front of the children... wouldn’t be good.’

Inside the room, one man was assaulting the woman. Including the one who dragged me in, that made two men in total.

’Heh...’

The man grabbed my hair with a wicked grin. "Another one’s here. This one’s high quality."

He dragged me over and threw me onto the bed.

The other woman, who had been tortured to the brink of death, cried and shook her head at me. Her eyes were filled with pity; she had clearly lost all hope.

I didn’t resist. I didn’t even move.

The moment he started to pull down his pants, my knife was already buried between his legs. "If you can’t control your ’little brother,’ then allow me to... discipline it for you."

"AGH!" With a bloodcurdling scream, the man fell to the floor, his whole body convulsing in pain. A pool of blood instantly formed between his legs.

But compared to what the woman on the bed had suffered, this seemed far too light a punishment.

The woman on the bed stared at me in shock. Covered in blood from her own torture, she didn’t dare to move.

The man still on top of her seemed stunned as well. Forgetting everything else, he turned to kill me.

The woman reacted quickly, wrapping her legs around the man and desperately holding him back from attacking me.

The man raised his hand to hit her, but my knife was already piercing his shoulder. "There’s a major artery here. If you pull the knife out, or even move recklessly, you’ll die. I suggest... if you want to live, you take your good friend who’s now a eunuch and get to the medical bay as fast as you can. Any later, and you’ll both be dead."
