Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Cecilia Caldwell Chewed Out Julian Fletcher

"Hmph." From the front passenger seat, Felix Foster huffed again.

I glanced over, confused, and whispered to Asher, "Is there... something wrong with him?"

Asher’s eyes darkened for a moment before he said nonchalantly, "He has rhinitis."

His tone was thirty percent nonchalance and seventy percent threat...

Sure enough, the handsome guy with rhinitis in the passenger seat fell silent.

I took a closer look at Felix Foster. He was tall, and I couldn’t see his face from my angle in the back. He was also wearing a baseball cap...

I couldn’t make out his features, but he had the aura of a handsome guy. He didn’t seem old, and from his voice, I guessed he was a teenager.

And just as I thought, Assistant Foster first pulled up to the entrance of Oakhaven High School.

The young man sounded reluctant. "I don’t want to go."

"The college entrance exams are right around the corner. You’re going whether you want to or not," Assistant Foster threatened in a low voice.

Felix Foster huffed again. "I can pass without studying. And it’s useless even if I get in. I’d rather be protecting..."

Felix Foster didn’t finish his sentence. He glanced back at Asher and huffed once more. "Look what a mess he got into while I was gone."

"..." I blinked. ’What a strange way to curse someone out.’

"Get to school, now," Owen Foster warned through gritted teeth.

Felix Foster, looking like a typical problem teen, reluctantly got out of the car, huffing one more time.

At this point, I was starting to believe he really did have rhinitis.

"Take that hat off!" Owen Foster scolded him, sounding like any other exasperated parent.

I’d always thought Owen Foster was like a robot—all work and no emotion. But seeing him interact with Felix Foster, he suddenly seemed more human.

The young man shot Asher a resentful look, but Asher didn’t even lift an eyelid. He was too busy hugging me and whimpering.

Taking off his hat, Felix Foster threw it onto the passenger seat in a fit of pique and stalked off.

But in that one glance, I could tell he was definitely a handsome guy.

Felix Foster was very tall, definitely towering over other high school students. Without the hat, he looked much more cheerful. He had a buzz cut and a bit of a roguish air. While he couldn’t compare to Asher’s stunning looks, he was absolutely a striking kind of handsome.

I looked at Felix Foster, then back at Asher.

’Yep, Asher’s the one with the looks that could stun the heavens.’

Feeling like I’d hit the jackpot, I rubbed Asher’s face and said instinctively, "So handsome..."

Asher nuzzled against me, a brilliant smile on his face. "Yours."

My ears turned red. ’I have to admit... he’s a real flirt.’

Just as Asher was about to take the opportunity to kiss and cuddle me, maybe even whine about how much he ached all over, the car door was yanked open with a BANG. Felix Foster was back, holding his hand out to Owen Foster. "Allowance."

"..."

Owen Foster took a red envelope from the center console and handed it to Felix Foster.

This time, Felix Foster didn’t look at Asher. Instead, he gave me a sinister glare.

Those eyes... made my heart clench.

He was good-looking, and his eyes held no killing intent toward me. It was just an indescribable feeling that made my chest tighten.

SLAM! The car door was shut with another heavy thud, making me jump.

Only then did Assistant Foster explain. "My apologies, Sir, Ma’am. I’ve been neglectful of his upbringing due to work. He’s spoiled rotten."

"If you’ve been neglectful, then discipline him properly. Set some rules. Otherwise, cut his allowance," Asher said in a low voice.

’It sounded like a threat to me.’

"Ha, teenagers are rebellious at seventeen or eighteen. It’s fine. Plus, he’s handsome. I bet he’s really popular at school," I said, quickly changing the subject.

As soon as Felix Foster got out of the car, a few girls had swarmed around him. They clearly liked him.

But Asher got a little upset. He took my head in his hands, turned it to face him, and declared, "I’m the handsome one."

"..." I nodded quickly. ’You’re right, you’re much more handsome.’

There was no doubt Asher was more stunning.

I was incredibly grateful that Asher had gone to a genius program in his teens. If he’d gone through a normal high school and taken the college entrance exams, the girls there would have probably eaten him alive. Would I even have had a chance then?

I nodded in deep gratitude. "Good thing no one’s competing with me for you..."

’Even a scumbag like Julian Fletcher has so many admirers.’

To be fair, Julian Fletcher was very good-looking. He was tall and came from a good family. In my memory, the girls who liked him were crazy about him, but the only one who ever truly got close to him was Erin Whittaker.

It just goes to show that Erin Whittaker definitely has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Erin Whittaker would be perfect for a show like *Empresses in the Palace*. She’d definitely survive until the very end.

Ever since "Cecilia Caldwell" died, Erin Whittaker has been playing the part of a delicate damsel, not daring to unleash her true "talents." She knows a murderer is watching her from the shadows, ready to kill her at any moment, so she’s been keeping a low profile.

But I’m sure she won’t stay quiet forever.

Now that I’ve burned her hair and nearly ruined her face, how could she not hold a grudge? Impossible. She’s probably just planning her next big move.

Besides, Erin Whittaker has always believed Asher was the one who plotted the murder. I suspect she had a hand in Master Lancaster’s decision to go after Asher.

That woman is rotten to the core. She and Julian Fletcher are a match made in heaven—they should just be locked away together.

’How did I never notice before?’

’To have died once so senselessly... I can’t even say it was an injustice.’

"Cece... it hurts so much." Seeing that I was lost in thought, Asher did his best to get my attention, rolling up his sleeve to show me his arm. It was bruised purple and swollen from the fall, the scrapes not yet fully healed.

I looked at the injuries on his arm anxiously. ’This is probably the least of it.’

I wanted to see the wounds on the rest of his body, but he hugged me tightly. "Cece... Julian Fletcher is evil. He wants to steal you away. He wouldn’t let me see you, and he had his men beat me up."

Asher whispered, tattling on Julian Fletcher.

"His men did this." Asher pointed to the most swollen area. It was clearly a fresh injury. It must have happened when he broke into the Fletcher family’s house while I was unconscious and was beaten by their bodyguards.

"And his men did this, too," Asher continued to complain.

I remained silent, but I was furious. Julian Fletcher and Master Lancaster were working together against Asher. They were clearly trying to back him into a corner with no way out.

When we got back to Asher’s place, Owen Foster had a doctor treat Asher’s injuries before he left.

"Cece, it hurts so much... Julian Fletcher must be trying to kill me," Asher said innocently, looking as if he’d suffered the greatest injustice in the world.

I clenched my fists, marking down another strike against Julian Fletcher in my mind.

"Just lie down and get some sleep," I said, soothing Asher until he was resting. Then I went downstairs, grabbed my phone, and called Julian Fletcher.

"Julian Fletcher, you’re a bastard." I started yelling at him the moment he picked up. "You’re disgusting!"

"Cece..." Julian Fletcher sounded excited to hear my voice, but when I laid into him, he could only try to change the subject. "Don’t trust Sebastian Lancaster! He’s a murderer..."

"You shut up! You’re the murderer!" I cut him off, my fingers trembling with rage. "Asher is my husband! It’s perfectly natural for him to take me away with him. Are you trying to have him killed? Your bodyguards are vicious! I don’t care what you and Master Lancaster are planning, but let me make one thing clear! Julian Fletcher, if you so much as touch him again, I swear I won’t let you get away with it."

On the other end of the line, Julian Fletcher fell silent.

After a long moment, he finally spoke. "Cecilia Caldwell, who’s the vicious one here, my bodyguards or him? I told them to stop him, and he tried to kill them."

"Julian Fletcher, I have eyes, I can see for myself! Aren’t those injuries on Asher from your men?" I found Julian Fletcher utterly repulsive. He never admitted to anything he did.

"What injuries? The bodyguard who tried to stop him was nearly beaten to death! He’s still lying in a hospital bed right now," Julian Fletcher retorted, his voice trembling with anger.

"I don’t believe a single word you say." I cursed at Julian Fletcher a couple more times and hung up before he could argue back.
