After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad
Chapter 106: I’m Becoming Curious About Everything About Asher
Chapter 106: Chapter 106: I’m Becoming Curious About Everything About Asher
"..." For a moment, everyone froze, clearly flustered and afraid. No one could guess what Sebastian Lancaster was about to do.
The living room fell silent.
But the silence lasted only a few seconds before the room erupted again.
"You madman, what are you talking about!" The old woman’s son-in-law lunged at Asher.
"The Lancaster family has no obligation to support you. You’ve grown accustomed to the good life they gave you, yet you show no gratitude. Instead, you come here to cause a scene. You have some nerve!" I stepped forward, shielding Asher.
The man lost his temper and tried to shove me.
Asher pulled me into his arms and kicked the man away. "Don’t touch her!"
Asher’s viciousness was overwhelming as he stared coldly at the man on the floor. "You want to die? I can help you with that."
Asher grabbed a nearby golf club and swung it down at the man.
"Ah!" The man flinched, almost wetting himself in terror. "He’s a madman! He’s crazy... Mom, he’s lost his mind! He’s going to kill me!"
The golf club didn’t hit him. Asher glanced back at me, his eyes filled with restraint.
He probably would have brought the club down if I hadn’t been there.
’Is he afraid... the bloodshed would scare me?’
’Or is he afraid I’ll be scared of him from now on?’
The old woman was frightened too. She pointed a trembling finger at Asher. "You... you... you madman."
Asher sneered and used the golf club to shove the old woman back onto the sofa.
The old woman was so scared she nearly had a heart attack.
CRASH! Asher smashed the club into a glass screen.
The screen shattered on impact.
As Asher’s rampage continued, everyone turned pale with fright and tried to flee.
"Don’t go... Weren’t you all just saying you didn’t want to live?" A smile played on Asher’s lips, and it was genuinely terrifying.
He started smashing everything around him, preferring to destroy it all rather than let them take it.
These people had come today to plunder the Lancaster family’s home.
The group screamed and scattered, terrified that Asher would lose control and kill them.
Asher just kept smashing things in a violent frenzy.
"Owen Foster, do something! He’s lost his mind!" the old woman’s daughter yelled at Assistant Foster.
Assistant Foster, who had been standing impassively by the door with the bodyguards, blocking the exit, spoke apologetically. "My apologies. The young master has a certificate of mental disability. Once he loses control, there’s nothing anyone can do."
Just then, I saw Owen Foster calmly pull Asher’s certificate of mental disability from his coat pocket yet again.
The relatives were terrified. Screaming and crying, they scrambled to their feet and rushed for the exit.
The old woman’s son-in-law, in particular, had been terrified when Asher had him pinned to the floor.
"Mom, he’s a madman! A madman! Run!"
The living room descended into chaos. The son-in-law, ignoring the fate of his mother-in-law and wife, scrambled up, pushed past Assistant Foster, and fled.
The old woman, unsteady on her feet, was helped away by her daughter as they too made their escape.
"Madman! Madman! The Lancaster family is finished in the hands of a lunatic like you!"
"It’s only a matter of time!"
Soon, the entire living room fell silent.
My jaw dropped. I gave a thumbs-up. It was true: you have to fight magic with magic.
Asher tossed the golf club aside. His cold, menacing aura vanished in an instant, and his icy eyes became pitiful. "Cece... I was scared. They came to steal our things."
My lip twitched.
’Who’s the one who should be scared? Even I was terrified...’
"Madam, these collateral branches of the Lancaster family have always benefited from the family’s generosity," Assistant Foster explained on Asher’s behalf. "When the old master was alive, each of them received a monthly stipend ranging from one hundred thousand to five hundred thousand. Unfortunately, these people are ungrateful. The young master was well within his rights to cut them off."
I nodded. "He was right. You can’t win over people like that."
The assistant nodded in agreement.
"But... they’re still part of the Lancaster family. What if they turn and throw their support behind Master Lancaster..." I said, looking up at the assistant.
"Don’t you worry, Madam. They’re just a disorganized mob," Owen Foster said nonchalantly.
Asher, still playing the victim, grabbed my hand and deliberately showed me the cut he got from smashing the glass. "Cece... it hurts."
I glanced at the wound. It was bleeding, but it was a much smaller cut than the ones he’d given himself before.
"Get the first-aid kit." I had him sit on the sofa and began to carefully tend to his wound.
Asher suddenly leaned close and sniffed me. His eyes flashed with a sinister light, but it was gone in an instant. "Cece... you saw Julian Fletcher."
’How does he know?’
"I can smell him on you. It’s disgusting," Asher said with a frown.
I sniffed myself and looked at Asher. ’Does he have the nose of a dog? How could he possibly smell that?’
"He—"
I was about to explain, but he suddenly grabbed the back of my head and kissed me.
I panicked and tried to push him away. ’Assistant Foster and the others are still here!’
Assistant Foster, completely unperturbed, turned around, led his men out, and closed the door behind him.
I pushed, but he didn’t budge. He kissed me until I could barely breathe.
’This wasn’t a kiss. It was deliberate, almost a punishment, leaving me no room to catch my breath.’
"Asher..." I said his name nervously, a strange fear creeping in.
’Something is very wrong with him right now.’
"Sebastian Lancaster!" I couldn’t push him away, and I was starting to get angry.
Ignoring his bleeding hand, he stood, swept me into his arms, and started walking upstairs.
"Sebastian Lancaster!" I didn’t dare struggle too much, afraid he’d drop me. "I just ran into him on the street! It’s not like I wanted to see him. He’s the one who won’t leave me alone!"
I tried to explain, but the oppressive aura around him didn’t lift.
’His moods are already so unpredictable. When he’s like this... it frightens me.’
"Sebastian Lancaster... what are you doing?" I was terrified that I would say or do something to set him off, that he would lose control.
It was just as Julian Fletcher had said: when you’re with a madman, you never know when he might just strangle you to death.
Asher ignored me. He carried me into the bedroom and, in a fit of pique, started pulling at my clothes.
"Sebastian Lancaster!" I struggled, and in a moment of uncontrolled emotion, I slapped him.
He looked at me with a wounded expression and pulled me into another tight hug. "Cece... you’re mine. You’re mine..."
His voice trembled. He raised a hand to cup my face, and the blood from the back of it felt searing hot against my skin.
Looking into his trembling, almost pleading eyes, my heart ached for reasons I couldn’t explain.
’There was a voice in my head telling me to hug him, to comfort him. That he was easy to soothe...’
"I’m sorry, Cece... It was my fault. They locked me up. You came looking for me, didn’t you? You must not have been able to find me... You’re punishing me, aren’t you..." He seemed to be losing control, hugging me tightly and mumbling his apologies.
’Was he talking about that year and a half he spent in the mental hospital?’
"Cece... They’re the ones who should die... They’re the ones who should die!"
My fingers felt stiff. I raised a hand to comfort him, but it froze in mid-air.
He was trembling violently, but the menacing aura radiating from him was inexplicably terrifying.
"Asher... were you actually involved in the murder?" I asked in a small, hoarse voice.
He didn’t answer, only held me tighter.
"Asher, I’m suddenly... curious about you. About everything." My hand finally came to rest on his head, and I gently ruffled his hair.
His hair was soft and carried the clean scent of shampoo.
It was like what Asher had said to Zeke Shaw: where is the source of all this wickedness?
’Maybe I’ve been wrong from the start. Maybe I’ve been too focused on finding the killer.’
’Maybe I should look for the source.’
’Investigate the truth behind the orphanage fire. Question that doctor from the mental hospital.’
’Asher, what in the world have you been through?’
