After Beating the Game, I Became the Villain BOSS

Chapter 694 - 427: Final Battlefield_2

The storefront windows were shattered, the cars on the street set ablaze, the raging flames lighting up the whole street, also illuminating the brutality on the faces of the rioters.

They didn’t steal or rob, nor did they have any clear target, just kept destroying, howling, wantonly trampling on the laws that once confined them, venting their inner fear and despair in this extreme way.

In the downtown area, a large adult party was going on, powerful speakers blasting club music, thousands of naked men and women indulging themselves on the square, from afar resembling countless writhing maggots, the scene extremely unsightly.

After all, it was the last night, no one cared about moral shame anymore, unabashedly releasing their beastly desires, trying to numb themselves with the pleasure from the flesh, to forget the impending apocalypse in this ecstasy.

This might be the craziest night in human history.

Human collective rationality had completely collapsed, moral and legal restraints no longer existed, the whole world had plunged into chaos, some numbing themselves in revelry, some venting anger in violence, some seeking peace in faith, everyone facing fate in their own way.

And on this restless night of chaos, no one noticed a meteor streaking across the sky beyond New Moon City.

This meteor lit up from the edge of the sky, rushing straight at Sky City, smashing into the energy shield, causing a ripple of azure blue.

Due to the massive energy consumption by the drone formations during the day, coupled with the powerful impact of this "meteor," the energy shield of Sky City was punched through.

Although the hole almost instantly repaired itself, the "meteor" had already entered its interior.

...

At the spot where the "meteor" fell, two figures slowly stepped out from it.

Su Mo put away the mechanical wings on his back, set down Su Motong, whom he was holding, and waved his hand to scatter the smoke around, looking into the distance.

The night in Sky City was bathed in soft moonlight, as if draped in a layer of silver gauze.

Contrary to the imagined scene of various high-tech facilities everywhere, this place looked nearly devoid of modern establishments, filled with primitive natural landscapes.

The reason was simple, when technology is fully pervasive, steel skyscrapers rise from the ground, nature becomes the most scarce commodity, only the supreme human elite are qualified to enjoy it.

From high above, the surface of Sky City was covered by vast forests, like an endless green carpet, spreading out continuously, appearing especially serene and mysterious under the moonlight.

Ancient trees stood towering into the clouds, lush and forming a green dome, occasional moonlight penetrated the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground, a breeze rustling through, whispering the secrets of the forest.

Various small animals lived leisurely in the forest, a few deer pacing between the trees, bowing their heads to graze on the ground, their ears occasionally perking up to listen to the surrounding sounds.

A brown rabbit darted out from the bushes, nimbly weaving through the trees, occasionally pausing to sniff the air with its nose.

An owl perched on a branch, eyes wide and round, quietly watching everything on the ground, occasionally letting out low "hoot" sounds.

In the center of the forest lay a lake larger than the Warm Water Lake in New Moon City, its waters shimmering silver under the moonlight, like a giant mirror, reflecting the endless white stars in the sky.

The reeds by the lake gently swayed in the breeze, white swans swam gracefully, sometimes bowing their heads to preen their feathers, sometimes spreading their wings to splash the water, startling a few little fish to leap out.

On this pre-apocalyptic night, humans possessing high intelligence plunged into collective madness, while these ignorant animals remained leisurely as ever, as if it were just another night, like countless past nights.

Su Mo picked up Su Motong again, activated the flight module of his prosthetic, heading towards the central area of Sky City, specially switching to low-noise mode, without disturbing the small animals in this natural setting.

Sky City was exceedingly vast, the flight route covering a certain distance, Su Mo flew while dialing the connection to Edge Mansion, and specifically to KK.

"Big brother!" As the communication connected, KK’s concerned and rapid voice came through, "Are you okay? Is there anything you want to instruct?"

"Everything’s fine, I’ve already entered Sky City." Su Mo smiled slightly, saying somewhat sentimentally, "There’s nothing to instruct, just suddenly thought of the year we met."

"Back then, I said I would overlook the world from Sky City within three years, and you would stand by my side."

"Now I’ve made it up here, but couldn’t bring you, and the timing’s been a bit off, kind of embarrassing to think about..."

KK’s mind was consistently meticulous, understanding that when people face important occasions, they tend to reminisce about the journey.

Su Mo rarely talked about the past, his sudden mention suggesting a heavy heart.

After all, the fate of all humanity weighs solely on him.

Therefore, KK did not respond seriously, but jokingly said: "I thought you were speaking casually, I never took it seriously, how come you did?"

"What’s so special about Sky City, on business trips I rode hovercars every day, the sights from the sky quickly became tiresome."

Su Mo chuckled knowingly, teasing: "Oh, well, Master K has truly become a master now, back then even a roasted potato brought joy, now even Sky City doesn’t impress."

KK replied lazily: "You bet, the past is the past, the now is the now. Remember that first rented room we had? It was such a rundown, small place..."

The two conversed freely about bygone days, one from the skies, the other from the ground.

In the places Su Mo flew over, occasionally he could see independent estates, built amidst dense woods, perfectly blending with the natural landscape.

The stone bricks of the mansion walls were covered in vines, green leaves appearing especially soft under the moonlight, the windows were ancient glass, with intricately carved edges.

The courtyard was full of various flowers, a few smart lights hung on branches, emitting gentle glow, enveloping the mansion in artistic shadows and light.

These were the homes of Sky City’s residents.

Sky City was about the same size as New Moon City, New Moon City housed 32 million people, whereas Sky City was home to only 112.

In times when technology infiltrates every corner of life, these human elites sat as kings over vast lands, enjoying a return to simple natural living.

But tonight was somewhat unusual, the estates Su Mo passed showed no signs of people, it seemed these elites had suddenly vanished from their little kingdoms, whereabouts unknown.

Time ticked by, and Su Mo finally arrived at the very center of Sky City.

Moonlight illuminated a structure standing in the wilderness, its outer walls made of black stone blocks, erratically covered with bizarre symbols never seen in human culture, glowing slightly in the moonlight, exuding an eerie and ominous aura.

The building was tower-like, its spire sword-like piercing the night sky, surrounded by colorful glass windows, adorned not with common religious imagery, but rather grotesque figures beyond verbal description.

Red, like blood dripping, green writhing like serpents, blue deep as the abyss... through these sinister colored glasses, one could faintly glimpse mottled light within the cathedral, as though countless eyes in the darkness watched the outside world.

Su Mo landed with Su Motong at the entrance of this building, surrounded by a circle of tall iron fences, each bar wrapped in thorns, sharp and glinting coldly in the moonlight.

This building clearly belonged to no era in human history, reeking of ominous foreboding.

Su Motong gazed at the bizarre symbols carved on the building’s surface, his sight then swept across the colorful windows depicting grotesque creatures, saying in a deep voice: "These don’t belong to human civilization but are related to construct civilization’s texts and paintings."

Su Mo: "Indeed, this is our final battlefield."

He spoke softly into the communicator: "KK, it’s time for farewell."

KK’s voice, full of resolve, came from the other side: "Go ahead, all of us are here waiting for you."
