Chapter 210: Chapter 210: The Appraisal Result Is Out, Family Status Is Clear at a Glance
After having her blood drawn, Sienna Everett sat on a chair in the VIP waiting area.
The DNA test was once again being handled by the same Dr. Dunn whom Javier Prescott had brought with him.
Dr. Dunn had worked with the Prescott Family for many years. He was highly skilled and experienced, and he knew the family had been searching for their long-lost Little Princess all this time.
"Sienna," Ian Prescott said, sitting to Sienna Everett’s right. He saw the needle mark on her arm from the blood draw, which looked particularly stark against her fair, jade-like skin.
His brow furrowed. "Does your arm still hurt?"
"It doesn’t," Sienna Everett said with a shake of her head, the corners of her rosy lips turning up slightly. "It really doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry."
She wasn’t afraid of needles. Besides, the sting from a needle was nothing compared to the pain she had endured with the Everett Family.
Javier Prescott, with his thin lips and cold eyes, had always been a man of few words, so much so that even his hair seemed to radiate an icy chill.
But now, facing Sienna Everett, his expression softened considerably. He managed a faint, slightly unnatural smile. "Would you like something to drink?"
"Not right now," Sienna Everett answered honestly.
Beside them, Ian Prescott stared, dumbfounded, an expression on his face like he’d just seen a ghost. "Javier, you..."
’Am I seeing things?’
’My brother actually smiled? And it was such a gentle smile?’
’No, there’s no way my brother can be this gentle!’
’Growing up together, I can count the number of times I’ve seen him smile on one hand!’
"Javier, you..."
Ian Prescott watched the smiling Javier Prescott, finding it stranger and stranger the more he looked. His eyes were filled with scrutiny.
’Did you take the wrong medicine or something, Bro?’
Hearing this, Javier Prescott turned to look at Ian Prescott. The gentle, faint smile on his lips vanished instantly, replaced by his usual cold indifference.
Ever since they parted ways in Meridia, Yesteria, he had been practicing his smile in the mirror fifty times a day back home.
He did it all so he wouldn’t scare Sienna with a cold expression when he saw her again.
’What, was my smile just now that unnatural?’
’How am I supposed to get closer to Sienna then?’
Seeing his brother revert to his ice-cold demeanor, Ian Prescott instantly felt a sense of familiarity.
’Now *that’s* more like it!’
’I’m used to my brother’s stony face.’
’Hiss... Why does that make me sound like a masochist?’
Sienna Everett didn’t notice the undercurrent between them. She took out her phone to check the time. The DNA test results should be out in about an hour.
A short while later, Ian Prescott received a call from his mother.
As soon as he answered, he heard Mrs. Prescott’s anxious and nervous voice on the other end. "Ian, are the results out? What did they say?"
Ian Prescott glanced at Sienna Everett beside him, then stood up and walked to the side. "Mom, not yet," he said with a helpless laugh. "Don’t be so anxious."
"How can I not be anxious?" Mrs. Prescott’s voice was filled with impatience, belying her elegant and dignified appearance in a navy blue qipao. "That’s my precious daughter I’ve been dreaming of day and night! How can I not be anxious!"
"Mom, you haven’t been so anxious that you’ve been waiting without eating, have you? Isn’t Dad worried about you?"
Although his parents had been married for many years, they were still very much in love. Sometimes, if his mother felt even slightly unwell or ate a little less, his father would worry endlessly.
"Your father’s too anxious to eat, too," Mrs. Prescott lowered her voice, deliberately turning away from Mr. Prescott beside her to tattle on him. "He’s even more anxious than I am!"
"..." Ian Prescott chuckled.
He couldn’t blame them. His parents missed their long-lost precious pearl terribly.
After waiting for so many years, how could they not be anxious?
"Mom, I’ll let you know the second the results are out."
"Okay, your father and I will be waiting." Mrs. Prescott hesitated for a second, then asked expectantly, "Ian, I’d like to say a few words to Sienna. Do you think that’s appropriate? Would it be too sudden?"
This feeling—the desperate desire to find her daughter, wanting to get close but not daring to act rashly before the results were confirmed—was perfectly normal.
Ian Prescott thought for a moment. "Mom, let’s wait until the results are confirmed. It’s less than an hour now, just wait a little longer."
He was honestly afraid his parents’ over-the-top enthusiasm would scare Sienna Everett.
"Alright then. You have to tell us as soon as the results are out." Mrs. Prescott then changed the subject. "Ian, where’s your brother?"
"He’s talking with Sienna right now."
"What could your brother possibly talk about? With how quiet he is, he can barely string two words together." Mrs. Prescott mercilessly roasted her eldest son, then added a worried reminder, "And you, Ian, even though you’re more of a smooth talker than your brother, you’re not much better. Don’t you go scaring Sienna either."
"Mom, aren’t you playing favorites a little too much?"
"Playing favorites? Sienna is very likely my precious daughter. Can you even compare to Sienna? Let me tell you, your rank in this family is fourth right now, but soon it’ll be fifth!"
"..."
’Great. My lowly position in the family hierarchy is crystal clear.’
’No need to even ask. First place is definitely my sister, and second is Her Majesty, Mom.’
Ian Prescott didn’t mind one bit, though.
He was willing to give his long-lost little sister the best of everything in the world.
’A mere spot in the family ranking? It’s only right that I’m below my sister!’
’When the test results come out, if Sienna really is my sister, I’m going to be the first one to bond with her. I can’t let my brother or our parents get there first!’
Meanwhile.
As Sienna Everett was chatting with Javier Prescott, she received a text from Keith Sterling.
[Sis, I’m back at Veridian Gardens~~]
[Tsk tsk, the first thing my brother asked when he saw me was why you didn’t come back with me. I told him you had some personal business~~]
[I was right! My brother can’t go a minute without seeing you. He misses you so much! He’s like one of those statues of a wife waiting for her husband’s return, just waiting for you to come home!]
[Sierra, this family can’t function without you!]
Sienna Everett: "..."
’A statue of a waiting wife?’
’Keith Sterling and his big mouth. He’s so over-the-top.’
Sienna Everett replied, completely exasperated: [What’s your brother doing now?]
Keith Sterling immediately seized on the main point: [Hehehe, are you asking because you’re worried about my brother, Sis?]
Sienna Everett: "..."
Keith Sterling typed back at lightning speed: [I’ve already relayed your concern to my brother! Praise me!]
Sienna Everett: [...Praise you? Alright, stop joking around. I’ll be back soon.]
Keith Sterling: [Okay~ Waiting for you~]
Sienna Everett put her phone back in her pocket just as Ian Prescott returned from his call.
"Javier, that was Mom on the phone."
Javier Prescott nodded. It was easy to guess why their mother had called.
Sienna Everett had guessed as well. Everyone was waiting for the test results.
She felt much the same as she had during the first DNA test—not particularly nervous.
Beside her, however, Javier Prescott and Ian Prescott’s nervousness and anticipation were almost palpable, their emotions churning, making it impossible to remain calm.
Time always seems to drag when you’re waiting anxiously.
After what felt like an eternity, Dr. Dunn finally walked over, holding the completed DNA report.
