Chapter 1534: Chapter 50: Cheka_2
It is worth mentioning here that Russia has not yet transformed into the Soviet Union; in the previous life, the Soviet Union was established in 1922. However, this is normal, as the Soviet Union is a national alliance, and previously, the control range of the Russian Labor Party was limited to regions like the original Russia and Central Asia.
With this thought, Ernst summoned Maureen, the head of East African intelligence, to the Rhine Palace. Soon, Maureen made his way along the telephone line and arrived in front of Ernst.
"Sit down!" Ernst said to Maureen.
Currently, the East African National Defense Security Bureau has become the world’s most professional foreign intelligence agency. However, other countries have also established corresponding organizations, such as the recently reorganized Russian Cheka, and Military Intelligence Six Department, established by the United Kingdom before World War I.
These are the three most formal and well-structured intelligence organizations in the world. Of course, East Africa also has a Military Intelligence Department, but it focuses more on serving the military.
Russia’s Cheka is a naturally established intelligence organization. After the Russian Labor Party seized state power, it was faced with severe domestic and foreign issues.
Abroad, imperialist states and various anti-Labor Party forces severely infiltrated Russia, actively supporting domestic anti-Labor Party factions, and even personally intervened in Russia to conduct sabotage activities. A typical example is the East African National Defense Security Bureau.
The East African National Defense Security Bureau destroyed many investment industries related to East Africa during the Russian Civil War, such as various mining production equipment with Tsarist Era East African backgrounds, and also plundered talents and wealth from Russia.
Some of Russia’s high-end talents were kidnapped by the National Defense Security Bureau to East Africa, now serving East Africa’s scientific development efforts.
Apart from East Africa, the intelligence and espionage activities of the United Kingdom and Germany in Russia are also very frequent. The United Kingdom is understandable; after setting up Military Intelligence Six Department, every major country in the world became a primary surveillance target, not specifically targeting Russia alone. There are traces of Military Intelligence Six Department activities in the United States, Germany, East Africa, the Far East Empire, and other countries.
Germany’s frequent activities in Russia are more straightforward since the two countries are at war. Thus, to steal military intelligence, disrupt Russian military logistics, and create chaos in the Russian rear, Germany will undoubtedly resort to any means to hold Russia back.
Conversely, Russia’s Cheka is also challenging to provoke, as Germany has many Labor Party members willing to cooperate with Russia’s actions.
Overall, although Cheka was established relatively late, its growth rate is the fastest. Facing imperialist countries’ infiltration and sabotage activities alone has made Russia the primary battleground for intelligence agencies worldwide.
Within Russia, Cheka’s workload is equally heavy. The remnants of the Tsarist Era, nobles, old bureaucrats, landlords, capitalists, anti-Labor Party members, factional struggles within the Labor Party, and idlers, among others, form a tangled mess.
The earlier matters are easy to discuss, but the last so-called idlers are rather vague, including Russian farmers resisting grain requisition during the civil war and factory workers engaging in slacking off, all of which can be classified into this category.
Thus, Cheka’s work involves both exporting ideological struggles and providing frontline intelligence to the military, as well as capturing various domestic and foreign reactionaries, and even interfering with production and daily work. No wonder its powers are so extensive.
Cheka is involved in the military, political, civil, and financial aspects. Regarding finance, Russia is now under blockade by various countries, so Cheka must also get involved to acquire funds and technology for industrialization.
Therefore, with rich battle experience, great authority, and wide-ranging involvement, it’s almost inevitable that Cheka will grow strong over the years, which is, to a certain extent, a forced move by the Russian Labor Party.
After all, the problems faced by the Russian Labor Party regime at its inception were more severe than those of any other country in the world, compared only with the later Far East Empire.
Moreover, as an idealistic political party, many of Russia’s Labor Party policies and guidelines did not align with the current realities, such as the previously mentioned "idle" issue.
The Russian people are human as well, and humans are bound by the issue of human nature. Overall, most people are creatures of enjoyment, lazy and seeking convenience, which is unavoidable for anyone and will inevitably affect everyone.
However, the Russian Labor Party wants to tackle this issue, which is apparently not feasible. In imperialist countries like East Africa, people can be motivated to work actively through wage policies and other measures.
Initially, Russia’s prevailing "equality" doctrines meant wages and other measures were not particularly effective, as those truly determined to squander could achieve it against Russia’s relatively high floor. Hence, the Russian Labor Party can only use Cheka’s methods to deal with idlers, essentially increasing the penalty severity for idlers.
In summary, although Cheka, the Russian intelligence agency, has a short development history, it has become the largest intelligence organization globally, surpassing even East Africa’s National Defense Security Bureau in scale.
It should be noted that East Africa’s National Defense Security Bureau was established last century and took decades to reach its current scale.
It is foreseeable that the Russian Cheka will definitely become a strong rival to the East African National Defense Security Bureau and even a formidable opponent to intelligence organizations in imperialist countries worldwide in the future.
