Chapter 1852: Show Yourself
Chapter 1852: Show Yourself
“No one better get any ideas of sneaking in, anyone who dares will have the same ending as that guy.” An arrogant voice rang out at the gates leading to a City, looking at the figure the owner of the voice pointed at, they could all see a headless body.
The line into the City quickly went silent as everyone conversing put a hold to their conversations. The guard who wanted them was a Peak Sage Plane Elementalist, and only a few people present were above the Sage Plane, so they naturally did not want to offend such a figure.
In the line of people, Grey waited patiently for his turn. It did not take long before it was his turn to enter the City. Paying the required fee, he entered the City without any issues. Although the guards at the gate always act arrogantly, as long as one did not give them a reason to, they will not worry about anyone paying to enter the City. Grey was not the only one who entered the City in this manner, almost every single individual entering the City will have to go through these guards, unless they were members of the City Lord’s Manor.
Grey entered the City and went straight to an Inn. It has been two months since he left Arkhos and the others. In these two months, all his time has been spent searching for these cores. He went back to the Raging Flames Region again during his search, other than the ones he found there the last time, there was still one more. It was surprising in a Manor of a Family that their strongest expert is not even a Venerable yet.
This Manor was quite a distance away from Raging Flames City. When he got there, he did not even try to communicate with those from the Manor since there was no need in doing that. After removing the core, he left, not even checking on those from the McCall Family. Visiting City Lord Vaughn did not even cross his mind.
The City he was currently in held one of the remaining three cores. This is the reason he came to a City like this, even though he knew that his appearance might alert those from the Twilight Faction. It has been two months since they started searching for him, and in these two months, he had not only escaped from them a few times, he had even gone ahead to kill a few Sovereigns. Two Ninth stage Sovereigns were among the Sovereigns he had killed over the past two months, yet he had never been caught or even injured. They’ve never been able to surround him, even when they managed to locate him. With the bounty leader by Grey’s side, it’s almost impossible for those from the Twilight Faction to meet him by surprise.
Whenever he wasn’t confident he could beat them, he would always leave before they got there. At the moment, most of the top Factions and Families in this secret world knew Grey’s face thanks to the Twilight Faction. Of course, not all the Factions were submissive to the Twilight Faction. Take the Raging Flames Faction for instance, they did not even care about the Twilight Faction’s summon about a month ago. Even when Grey appeared in the Raging Flames Region, he did not encounter anyone from the Twilight Faction. This did not mean that the Twilight Faction did not have anyone in that Territory, rather, they could not act however they wanted since the Raging Flames Faction did not allow it.
The Inn Grey picked was fairly average, and he barely even stayed after paying for the room. Immediately after, he went to inspect the place where the core is located.
“How come they have Sovereigns?” Grey was a little shocked as he looked at the Manor the core should be located. In this City, although the person at the gate is a Sage Plane Elementalist, it did not mean there were no Sovereigns here. This was a City with a few Sovereigns present.
Looking at the Manor the core should be hidden, Grey’s expression became even more serious. The reason for this was because there was not just one, but multiple auras of Sovereigns present there, and if what he heard is accurate, then this Manor is shockingly the City Lord’s Manor. This was completely out of his expectations since the core makes it hard for those affiliated to the Manor to grow to the Sovereign Plane. He had seen a few Manors that were still occupied and the strongest expert was a Peak Venerable, just like the case of the McCall Family. This was his first time seeing Sovereigns in a Manor like this.
He did not hurry to act, this place was not running and as long as he acted properly, he would not need to worry about fighting anyone.
He took a few minutes to be certain about the Manor and its occupants. Only after ensuring that there were no Late stage Sovereigns did he sneak into the Manor. The Manor was ordinary, without any Late Stage Sovereigns, Grey did not think they would want to be extravagant.
After entering the Manor, Grey noticed something wrong. Outside the Manor he could not sense it, but the moment he entered the Manor he noticed it, the aura of a Peak Sovereign, and the Sovereign was hiding within the Manor.
‘How did they know I’ll come here?’ Grey was a little taken aback. From how well hidden the aura was, he knew for a fact that whoever the aura belonged to was probably trying to stay hidden. Unfortunately for him, Grey has always been very cautious since leaving the Magical Beasts. So even after ensuring that there is no one there that can threaten him, he will always be very careful. He had never seen anyone that will be able to give him any trouble since then, until now.
Somewhere in the City Lord’s Manor.
Two figures were seated, none of them saying a word. All of a sudden, the middle-aged man among the duo frowned, “Did you sense anything odd?”
The other man who looked older opened his eyes and shook his head before asking, “Did you find anything suspicious?”
The middle-aged man did not answer, rather, closing his eyes to try to pinpoint where he sensed the odd aura. He did not want to alarm his partner, but who they’ve been waiting for is someone that is said to be well versed in escaping, and a Peak Sovereign might not necessarily be able to keep him in one place. Knowing Grey could come and go as he pleased, although he was not a hundred percent accurate, this Peak Sovereign did not dare to slight this, putting all his focus on the Manor and beyond. A minute later his frown deepened as he said, “I sensed something strange coming from that side. The feeling barely lasted a second, but given the abilities of that boy, we better be prepared.”
“That boy is here?” The other man asked with a serious expression, realizing his partner might not be carelessly speaking. He has heard from Everard how difficult it was to deal with Grey, a Seventh stage Sovereign. If not for the fact that he was one of the Peak Sovereigns who acted quickly, he would not believe a Seventh stage Sovereign will be able to escape not just one, but multiple Peak Sovereigns at the same time. Over the past two months, two Sovereigns have spoken about exchanging blows with Grey, and although they had the upper hand, they still were not able to stop him from leaving.
“We better go out and be sure he is not the one I sensed.” The middle-aged man said after a while, he did not want to take the risk of not inspecting.
The other man nodded, not objecting to the middle-aged man’s words.
The duo left the room they were seated in, searching for Grey.
A few seconds after they left the room, Grey’s figure materialized inside the room, his expression cold.
“Looks like they are not going to let me search in peace.” He muttered, a little bit annoyed. If not for wanting to save Arkhos and the other Magical Beasts, he would not have been hunted by those from the Twilight Faction. He had no idea how those from the Twilight Faction were searching for him mainly due to his space element. If not for his space element, there’s a high chance those from the Twilight Faction would not be searching for him this much.
Taking the time they were out, Grey hurriedly went in search of this Manor’s affinity stone, all the cores have been hidden beneath affinity stones which made locating them easy. It only took him about a minute or so before he located this Manor’s affinity stone. The core which was beneath it was quickly taken out by him, however, he did not leave immediately after taking it.
“Since you are already here, why not show yourself?” He asked, looking in a certain direction.
