Chapter 1839 Invitation

Chapter 1839 Invitation

"Brat, hand it over!" Godric demanded with outstretched hands.

Before Grey could reply, Lord Everard asked curiously, "Hand what over?"

This question was naturally meant for Godric. Godric did not hide anything and replied, "The item you asked us to retrieve on our way here is in that brat's hand. If not for searching for his whereabouts these past few days, we would've gotten here much earlier."

Lord Everard wore a strange expression on his face as he heard Godric's explanation. He did not comprehend how a group of three Ninth stage Sovereigns and an Eighth stage Sovereign were unable to not only stop a Seventh stage Sovereign from taking their treasure, but they also lost him in the process.

Noticing his gaze, Godric understood what was going through his mind and hurriedly added, "There's something strange about this brat. He's not that powerful, but he has a strange movement technique that makes it very hard to locate him."

Godric doing his best to explain made the expression on Lord Everard's face turn even stranger as he could not believe his ears. A Ninth stage Sovereign making up excuses for their inability to apprehend a Seventh stage Sovereign sounded stupid to him.

Lord Everard was not the only one staring at the group with odd gazes. The others from the Twilight Faction all had varying expressions, but it was clear they all found Godric's words absurd.

Lord Everard decided to take matters into his hands and took a step forward, with an amicable smile on his face he opened his mouth to speak, "Little friend, I don't believe we've met before. This Old man is Elder Everard from the Twilight Faction. I wonder if Little Friend is willing to come inside and have a chat with us?"

No one expected Lord Everard to introduce himself to Grey, and not only that, but going as far as inviting him inside the building.

Grey frowned, not expecting this Old man called Lord Everard to put up such a friendly front while being an Elder of the number one Faction in this World. From what he understood from Lord Everard's display when the middle-aged man from his Faction beheaded someone just for mere words, he knew he was not a good person.

Shaking his head, he rejected respectfully, "Elder is too kind, but I'm sorry I have to decline your request. I only made a stop here, and will be leaving now."

He was previously contemplating if he should launch an attack now or not, but the arrival of this group of four made his decision easier. There was no way he would want to get entangled against these people when they had someone that could restrain his use of the space element. Thinking up to this point, he concluded the rescuing of these Magical Beasts would be postponed to later.

After making his intentions to leave known, Grey turned around really intending to leave.

Godric almost exploded from anger seeing that Grey was still so calm even with this many people. But he didn't make a move, he knew he did not have to. He knew how much importance Lord Everard placed on the item Grey got his hands on, so the idea of Grey being able to leave this place alive is completely out of the picture.

Just as he expected, the man who beheaded someone during their arrival moved in a flash, blocking Grey's path while menacingly licking his lips, "And where do you think you're going?"

Grey halted in his tracks, turning around and looking at Lord Everard, his expression still calm, "Elder, I don't believe we bear any grudge with one another."

Seeing Grey's calm demeanor, Lord Everard was taken aback, not expecting him to be this composed even when his path of retreat is blocked. Wearing the same amicable smile, he responded, "Little Friend should honor this old man's invite."

"And if I refuse?" Grey raised a brow, a trace of annoyance finally appearing on his face.

"I'm afraid I'll have to insist, Little Friend." Lord Everard was impressed the more he spoke with Grey. He knew Grey was pretending to be calm, rather, he truly was calm in front of them. It was as if he didn't see the danger he was in.

Grey's frown only grew deeper with Lord Everard's words. Knowing that this Elder would not let go of this matter until he got his hands on the treasure, he felt frustrated. But the thing is, he could not hand the treasure over to them for free. Acquiring the treasure took him a lot of effort, and the group of four three only arrived after he had taken the treasure and demanded he handed it over to them. He decided to teach them a lesson, and was well on track to fulfill that until the sudden appearance of the fourth member who seemed to be the bane of the space element.

The fourth member was an Eighth stage Sovereign whose ice domain contained special attributes of interfering with the surrounding space. Against other Elementalists this attribute is basically useless, but against a Space Elementalist, it was like turning them into handicaps. Even Void and the bunny leader could barely access the surrounding space, but unlike Grey, they could at least escape from within its means.

One thing that made this Eighth stage Sovereign particularly annoying was his unfathomable speed. Grey tried to distance himself from within the range of his domain, but this guy was able to stick to him like glue. One has to know that not only does Grey have shocking physical speed, but he also has the light, wind, and lightning elements which all majored in speed, yet he still found it hard to shake off this Eighth stage Sovereign. It was only after he managed to create some distance did he turn around to run away. During the course of his escape, he understood how terrifying of a control this Eighth stage Sovereign had over his domain.

For some unknown reason, this Eighth stage Sovereign could attach a part of his domain on a mobile target. Not only that, but the domain can stay active even after creating a two to three kilometers distance from his body.
