Chapter 385: Rumble in the Jungle

Violet dove backwards as a root lanced towards her at incredible speed, even when it entered into her domain it was only slowed marginally.

Still that slight delay was the difference between being skewered on the root and only receiving a slight graze along one arm, the scales on her forearms aiding further to mitigate the damage.

She responded near instantly, several spears of void shot forth towards the snake guardian only for them to be blocked by the snake itself as it whipped its long tail around to bat the spears away.

Violet narrowed her eyes as she noticed the dense emerald glow emanating from the snake as it did so.

Nevertheless Violet was not one to stop as only launching a couple of attacks, she had spent some time setting up the battlefield ahead of time for just such a battle. Granted she had not expected for three tier 5 beings to arrive all at once.

Thankfully it seemed like the bull beastkin was not inclined to aid in attacking her, or at least not yet anyway. At the very least it seemed like they would simply battle against the guardians separately, something that suited Violet just fine.

One of her runes flashed with purple brilliance for the briefest of moments, a pitch black chain shot out and wrapped around the snake, momentarily hindering its movements just enough for the second wave of void spears to hit their target.

A decent chunk of plant matter was blasted away from the snakes body after the 3 spears that had landed exploded.

Saddly they had not landed anywhere near the core of the monster so the damage near instantly began healing. The roots and comes making up the creature wriggling as they grew and mended.

A sibilant hiss echoed out from the snake, the sound of which caused Violet’s vision to blur and forced her to take a step backwards.

That in turn allowed one of the many tier 4 guardians to get in close for an attack.

Violet felt a stabbing pain on her left leg, quickly looking down to see a small fox shaped guardian latched onto her calf. She growled in annoyance at the creature, slamming her fist down on the fox as void threads instantly created a large spike atop her fist.

A satisfying crack resounded as she shattered the core of the being, the plant matter making up its body falling limp. Yet even in that victory she hissed in pain as a good amount of sap had managed to land on her exposed skin, some even getting into the fresh bite wound.

Violet lamented that her domain was less reliable a defense against the sap as it was being constantly challenged by the two tier 5 guardians.

Whilst the other enlightened sovereigns domain was not exactly clashing with her own, it was not actively working with hers either. That was opposed to the two guardians whose domains seemed to blend together just as flawlessly as Violet and Luna’s own domains did.

That blending of domains caused the individual assult on her domain to become quite challenging to withstand. She was not being entirely surpressed, yet was unable to fully maintain her defence, particularly when she was distracted like when the fox bit her.

At that time Violet felt her chain shatter under the immense power of the snake, its length coiling up as it looked ready to pounce at her.

She backed up slightly, forcing herself not to limp as she readied herself for the attack whilst also continuing to unleash a barrage of void bolts at the circling lesser guardians.

The snake lunged forwards, directly at Violet, its maw opened wide as vicious looking range extended out towards her.

Half a dozen void shields popped into place before the creature, the first 3 shattering on impact, yet the remaining three slowing the guardian down considerably.

That gave Violet enough time to ready a counter.

4 more runes flashed as they activated. Two sending beams of nothingness at the creature, when they landed a rune etched itself onto the faux flesh of the creature.

With the other runes two separate effects came into being. The first reinforced the shattering barriers, expanding the final one and thickening it to force the guardian to a stop.

Only when it was forced to a stop did the final one fully activate. A jagged bolt of void lightning lashed out, it rushed directly towards the first of the runes etched onto the snakes body.

It impacted with a hissing sizzle as the void lightning rushed up the snakes body, when it reached the second rune further up the snakes body the two runes flashed with purple brilliance once again.

The snakes body jolted and spasmed as the lightning coursed along its body, bouncing back and forth between the two runes.

Violet grinned as her throat glowed purple, she took a deep breath, paused for a moment then exhaled.

Utter destruction rushed out from her open mouth as her dragon breath soared forwards, heading straight for center mass of the snake.

The world turned purple, all other colour being banished from reality as the void staked its claim and extracted its due.

Silence reigned for a heartbeat as the void filled everything, then the light faded and with it sound and sensation returned to all present. And the sound returned with a thunderous boom.

A shockwave rippled out from the impact point, plantmatter and debris being blasted away in all directions.

Yet Violet did not believe that her breath alone would be enough to put down a sovereign, particularly ones with such impressive regeneration as these guardians. As such the moment her jaw snapped shut she blinked out of existence to reappear right besides the managed body of the snake.

Spears formed above her as she looked down at the writhing body of the guardian, over half of its body had been entirely erased from her dragon breath yet the monster refused to die, already it was beginning to regenerate.

Violet would not allow that to happen.

Whilst she could not see exactly where its core was, with so much of its body being destroyed it would not be too challenging to finish the creature off.

Her spears shot down, impaling the body of the snake, then they exploded as a satisfying sound of a core breaking apart rang out.

The creature slumped, the vines and roots fell still and Violet smiles as she swiped away some sap trying to burn its way through her kimono.

Her moment of victory was interrupted when a certain bullkin was sent flying past her to slam into a nearby tree, his impact breaking the incredibly sturdy tree in half and sending a shower of wood splinters flying in all directions.

Violet blinked at seeing that, slowly turning to face the direction that the bull had come from.

Some distance away towered the peculiar cat crocodile guardian. Only it was over twice as large as it had been when the battle first started.

Violet also took note of the fact that not a single other guardian remained standing, despite the fact that she could have sworn at least 20 of them were still standing moments ago.

She focused on the guardian, narrowing her eyes as she watched an all too familiar core sink into its body as she felt a faint surge in the beings power at the same time.

"Well, looks like your going to be an interesting fight." Violet said as her grin found its way back onto her face.
