Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 382: Wooden Frames

The forest was lit up with brilliant purple light as Violet unleashed her dragon breath, her powerful void infused breath managing to entirely erase 2 unfortunate trees that were in its path.

The panther she had aimed it at however, had managed to avoid the worst of the attack, only loosing one of its rear legs.

Still it was a debilitating attack that should significantly hinder the creatures ability to move.

Or at least that was what Violet had hoped to happen, yet to her amazement she watched the the vines and roots that made up the panther wriggled and extended out of the cleanly cut hind quarters of the feline.

Those vines rapidly began to regrow the leg that had only just been destroyed.

Still whilst the process was most definitely rapid for regrowing an entire limb, it was not too fast when it came to the speed of a battle between powerful beings such as Violet and the panther.

After taking a moment to assess how long the leg would take to fully regrow Violet once again went on the offensive.

She blinked out of existence and near instantly reappeared besides the cat that was still somewhat reeling from the powerful breath attack.

Void threads wrapped themselves around her fist as they bulged and wove together into short yet impossibly sharp spike.

Violet unleashed a devastating strike into the neck of the creature, her void threads shearing through the sturdy shrubbery that made up the panthers body.

At the same time two runes flashed to life behind the being and thick pitch black chains erupted from within them to bind around two of the creatures remaining legs.

The panther tried to retaliate by biting at Violet, yet a sharp tug on the two chains caused the bite to land short and open the cats face to Violet’s fist wreathed in her void threads.

Two void spears manifested above the body of the beast and slammed into its torso, exploding in a violent purple glow deep within its chest.

Plant matter erupted from the attack, yet not a drop of the sticky green sap touched Violet, it simply ceased to exist once it entered the area of her domain that was currently tightly wrapped around her body.

The non plant life objects around her that were hit began to sizzle and erode from the powerful acid that coursed through the sap of the being.

Violet had quickly leant to not allow any of it to land on her after suffering under the sap from an earlier engagement.

Violet backed up as she continued to unleash a barrage of attacks at the temporarily bound panther.

After several seconds Violet halted her onslaught, waiting to see the results of her attack as the cloud of debris and broken plant matter swiftly settled down.

When the cloud dissipated it revealed the broken body of the plant panther.

It only had 1 limb remaining, its head was half destroyed, over half of its torso was simply gone and copious sap was splattered all around.

Yet Violet found herself frowning as she watch a near impossible scene.

The vines and roots of the panther were still moving, slowly spreading and growing as it tried to rebuild its body. It was only slow due to the massive amount of damage that had been dealt to the creature.

Yet it still lived.

Violet focused in, trying to understand how the creature was still alive, surely no being could survive such gracious wounds, Violet knew she would not be able to survive being injured so.

Then she spotted something, a emerald orb of tightly woven vines pulsed faintly in the exposed torso of the being, countless minuscule veins seemed to originate from that orb and connect to the larger plant matter around it.

She could also feel powerful energies radiating from that orb, from it she had an idea.

She formed another spear, overcharging this one to more than double its size and potency. Then the spear began to spin, it spun faster and faster until Violet thrust her arm forwards as if throwing the spear physically and sent the spear flying forwards with enough force that were the spear not made of void which erased everything in its path, a sonic boom would have occoured.

The spear impacted the centre of the pulsing orb, it halted for a prolonged moment as it touched the shifting surface, then a resounding crack rang out and the spear punched straight through the orb to impale theough it and the remains of the creature before sinking over half its length into the ground below.

Then the spear exploded and all traces of the orb, or as Violet suspected it was, the core of the strange plant creature was entirely erased.

Violet initially smiled at the notification and the subsequent levels gained from the fight. However, she soon frowned as she noticed that she had not gained a new token from that victory.

Did that mean that the creature she had just fought was not a participant but a native to this land? Or some kind of obstacle that had been placed in the path of the participants?

Violet was unsure, still it had been a fun fight so Violet would not be too disappointed. Or at least she tried to think so until she looked back at the utterly destroyed corpse of the now dead Jungle Guardian, she unconsciously lowered a hand to her stomach and rubbed it.

“Why did it have to be an acid plant? Nothing to eat from it.” She muttered to herself in indignation at the fact that she would be unable to savour her rightful reward of a tasty snack after a victory.

So instead she pulled a massive chunk of cooked beast sovereign meat she had previously cooked and began to munch away at it as she turned away from the battlefield and began to leisurely stroll through the jungle, once again heading towards both the centre of the island and her beloved companion.

She idly wondered how Luna was getting on with her own adventures.
