Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 379: leveling Spree and Explanations

  • Next Chapter

Violet panted as she watched the body of the freshly dead beast before her fall to the ground, its massive body riddled with holes from her potent magics.

Whilst being led by the strange jacklekin Kalvin she had run into not just one sovereign level beast, but two.

If not for the fact that Kalvin seemed genuinely terrified, to the point of fainting each time they encountered one such beast she would have suspected the man of purposely leading her into these fights.

It had been a full day since she had been following behind the man, this bazar and confusing zone of tunnels being either incredibly massive, or just frustratingly complicated to move through.

Probably a mix of the two given how hopelessly lost Violet was when she tried to navigate through it by herself.

Still the two fights had granted Violet quite the boom in terms of levels gained, having risen 6 whole levels, 3 from each battle.

She forgot how nice it was to gain rapid levels, to feel her strength grow at a noticeable pace. To feel her body and mind improve, for the mana within her body to respond and react to her desire all the better.

Their was another underlying factor in Violet’s rapid leveling speed, that of her domain.

To advance through tier 5 was it was not enough to just kill strong creatures and gain experience. To truly advance one needed to develop their domain.

A sovereigns domain was the basis of their power, to have a lacking domain was paramount to stifling one’s potential.

Whilst one technically didn’t need to truly advance their domain till one hit the major thresholds within tier 5, by incrementally improving their domains as they progressed they could in turn speed up the process of accumulating the requisite levels to reach these thresholds.

Thanks in no small part to the tutelage of the powerful bearkin sovereign, Karla. Violet had gained a strong sense of her own domain, she had effectively jumpstarted her advancement through the tier, enabling her to easily gain the early levels in her new tier.

Tier 5 was split into 3 main thresholds. Levels 150-199 were all about gaining control over one’s domain. About refining how you utilised it, how much precision you could manipulate it, how much pressure it could take when put to the test in combat.

This first stage was all about grasping the new power that they had gained after reaching tier 5.

The second stage was from levels 200-249.

This stage was about expanding the scope of your domain. Going from its somewhat limited range of influence to enabling the sovereign to lay claim to more, to expand the maximum reach of their domain.

There were naturally exceptions to this rule, Karla was a great example of this given her proclivities to keep her domain nearly entirely internal except for precise and devastating domain spikes.

But for someone like Violet she knew that she would need to lay claim to more of the infinite nonexistence of the void. To expand her reach through the nothingness that encapsulated the other side of reality.

The final stage of tier 5 was somewhat of a paradox. It was all about condensing one’s domain.

Not necessarily in shrinking their domain, but of concentrating more power within the expanded area that their domain could now utilise.

This final stage was paramount if one wanted any chance of advancing any further along the path of progression. To condense their domains meant enhancing the potency of the respective domain.

This was one of the primary reasons that both Karla and the Syan kings domains were so formidable, they had both entered the late stages of tier 5. Meaning that they had both been condensing their domains, Karla simple took that concept to its absolute extreme by condensing it to the point of hardly extending past her body.

So all in all Violet had an advantage during these early levels of sovereignty, had she not received the training shortly after advancing she would not have been able to grow so rapidly.

That coupled with the training methods provided by her ursine trainer would allow Violet to rapidly advance up to the limit of the second stage.

This was naturally contingent on Violet actively practicing with her domain, utilising it in new and innovative ways, challenging her control over it whilst in combat against other tier 5 beings.

It was a good thing then that Violet was quite motivated to grow as powerful as possible.

Even though the bind she shared with Luna was stretched past anything Violet had experienced before, as time passed it was slowly growing stronger.

Still not to the point that any level of communication would be possible, but it had grown enough for Violet to glean a basic understanding of Luna’s current state.

Through that she could feel the slight bump in Luna’s power as time passed, Violet had no doubt that it was a result of rapid leveling over on her end.

Violet smiled as she thought about Luna frowning stronger. Even though it had only been a short amount of time she already desperately missed Luna, she had never gone more than a single day apart from the girl ever since she had first met her all that time ago.

As she followed along behind the recently awoken jacklekin once again, Violet’s thoughts turned to her erstwhile companion.

It was somewhat challenging to truly grasp how Violet felt about Luna, she was her companion, her most beloved friend and her lover. They had not truly done more than kiss one another, something that Violet had truly learnt to enjoy.

They spent time cuddling and enjoying one another’s presence, yet Violet couldn’t help but wonder what came next. She knew that by relationship standards their was slightly unusual, their relationship had begun when Luna was in a state of extreme distress and loss, meanwhile Violet was still extremely young.

That combination had caused them to form a strong bond at a rapid pace. Still even now that Violet had grown so much, both mentally and physically she would not change a thing about how they met.

That in turn brought her back to wondering how they might advance their relationship, she had learnt some things during her time in Syan, from the role of families and how lovers may interact with one another.

One thing that she had repeatedly heard about was how two lovers would usually start a family together, yet Violet was still unsure about how exactly they did that.

Was it a case of mixing their magics together to create a baby? She wasn’t sure, she doubted it given how often she had done so with Luna.

After some time pondering that question her gaze turned towards Kalvin, a smile forming on her massive draconic face as she realised that she didn’t have to wonder alone, perhaps her guide would be able to inform her!

So with a simple act of will she extended a mental bridge to the man and spoke to him.

"Kalvin, I have a question that I am hoping you may be able to answer for me."

The man jumped upon hearing her words yet seemed to relax slightly as he cautiously replied.

"Umm, sure, I don’t know if I’ll be able to help but I will do what I can to answer you lady dragon."

Violet nodded her massive head at his reply before asking her question. "Iv been wondering something recently, it’s about family."

The man tilted his head yet seemed receptive to her question so she continued. "How is it that babies are born?" 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

Kalvin froze at her words, he slowly, almost robotically turned his head then body to face towards Violet, he slowly tilted his head back to look into Violet radiant eyes that stared straight back at her.

Then his body began to tremble as his eyes rolled into the back of his head and the poor man collapsed to the ground as he fell unconscious once again.

Violet stared in utter bewilderment at the man. "What is wrong with this man, why does he keep passing out!" She stomped her foot in annoyance and let out a huff of breath as she glared at the man laying in a crumpled heap on the floor.
