Adventures of the last Wild Dragon
Chapter 377: Cranky Crab
In a twisted reality of impossible geometry two beast sovereigns charged at one another. One the size of a medium sized house with thick ice acting as a carapace and menacing claws, the other a graceful leopard with ever shifting blue patterns across its fur.
The crab shot its larger right claw forward with terrifying speed, its massive pincers slamming together with enough force to cause a localised sonic boom.
Luna had activated void step a moment before the claw snapped shut only moving a short distance to the side but enough to entirely avoid the crushing force of the crabs attack. She retaliated with a vicious tackle as her tail whipped out with a razor sharp ice blade formed along its edge.
The blade slammed into the front leg of the beast, a visible crack forming along the sturdy ice armour yet no more damage than that occoured.
As for Luna herself, she slammed into the underside of the beast, her legs tensed as she pushed upwards. The crab tried to hold its ballence yet was pushed up and knocked off ballence, its more vulnerable underside momentarily exposed.
The very instant that she stuck over a dozen weapons forged of ice appeared around her, each one brimming with the power of her domain and will. They all shot forwards, slamming into the underside of the massive crustacean with enough force to slaughter an lesser beast in an instant.
Yet this was a sovereign, a tier 5 beast that seemed tailor made for defence. Whilst the various weapons struck true, the actual damage dealt was minimal at most, only leaving minor scratches into its shell.
Still that was enough to damage dealt to build up the first few stacks of chain strike, Luna smiled viciously as she felt that building power imbuing her next attacks.
However, before she could continue her attack she was forced to dive backwards as the crab reacted, its back two legs curled inwards, aiming directly at Luna’s face, yet she was a moment too slow to fully avoid the attack, resulting in a gash slicing along her right shoulder.
Still it was only a minor wound and not enough for Luna to be slowed down.
The crab quickly got back on its feet, a hiss of anger coming from it as it clacked its claws menacingly at her.
Then before Luna could act next it slammed both claws together and a wave of ephemeral power surged out in a crescent wave towards Luna.
She felt a spike of danger originating from that wave and instantly formed a thick wall of ice before her, at the same time she sent forth several of her ice weapons to try to slam into the wave.
The instant the weapons touched the wave however, they instantly shattered whilst the wave carried in unencumbered.
Knowing her defense would not be sufficient for this she took another step and appeared behind the crab and saw out the corner of her eye how that crescent seemed to erase her ice wall before continuing on and impacting the ice bridge that she had been aiming to traverse.
Her eyes opened wide in shock when said bridge almost seemed to implode and a good chunk of the bridge simple ceased to be. A shiver ran down Luna’s spin at that as she affirmed that she would never allow such an attack to land against her.
All of that only took a scant few seconds since they had charged at one another, the battle had only just begun after all.
Luna slashed out with her claw, razor sharp ice covering her extended claws, they dug lighting into the thick ice of the legs, small fragments of ice being chipped off as she gained yet another small bump in power.
More conjured weapons appeared, each one continually raining down attacks on the crabs carapace, whilst each one dealt hardly any damage to the beast, they all slowly but surely were dealing more damage with each hit.
The crab would not take this lying down however. It spun around as its body shimmered, as Luna swung once again to strike at the beast her claws suddenly stopped dead when the impacted a tree of ice instead of the leg she had been aiming for.
She spun around as she searched for the crab, only to dive to the side as a etherial claw slammed shut where her head had just been.
The crab then emerged from one of the trees that had been formed by its domain, swapping places with it and allowing it to teleport around the battlefield. Still Luna did not worry, if anything she smiled at this, excited to be able to fight against another foe that could also teleport like herself and Violet!
She she took a step herself, appearing before the crab with her 4 illusions back in place. They once again all struck out simultaneously, 3 attacked the legs whilst Luna and one more aimed from the base of the claws.
The crab too responded the same, its claws lashing out to crush the foes before it.
Yet a massive ice club slammed down on the claw aiming for Luna herself, the impact enough to knock the claw aside and allow for Luna’s attack to land home.
Her claws dug deep into the base of the claw, managing to pierce right through the ice now and dig into the flesh of the beast itself, finally drawing forth the blue blood of her foe.
The crab let out an infuriated hiss at the turn of events and unleashed a wave of its peculiar force that once again knocked back Luna and her illusions, only 3 illusions though as the fourth had been shattered by the other claw.
Still the opposing sovereign had taken some more damage, deep slashes had nearly cut through the ice armour on the legs of the beast from her illusions attacks, a myriad of cuts and scratches now marred the top of its shell from the cintinual rain of ice forged weapons.
Meanwhile Luna only had a small cut on her shoulder that had already been covered in a thin layer of her own ice and was now nearly entirely healed.
Luna smiled viciously at the crab as she took another step and resumed her attack.
