Adventures of the last Wild Dragon
Chapter 347: The Ephemeral Void
Time passed for the girls, their initial stay extended from days to weeks into months. The city rebuilt itself as they honed their skills and prepared themselves for the next step in their advancement.
Whilst they were both pretty sure they didn’t need as much time as they spent repairing, they also knew that they only had a singular chance at this so saw no reason in rushing.
So it was that the 1 year mark for Violet’s birth was rapidly approaching.
She was determined to enter sovereignty before that point in time, she wasn’t sure exactly why she felt that was important, but she knew regardless that she intended to do so.
So it was that one chilly morning found both companions settled in a massive yet secluded cave some distance from the city.
Being beasts they knew that they would have to take on their beast forms to evolve. As a part of their evolution they both knew that their size would undoubtedly grow quite considerably.
Because of that they had carefully selected the location of their ascension. The cave they were in was over a kilometre both in width and length additionally it was around half that in height.
Their was a small collection of earth elementals calling the spot home but they were swiftly evicted. With prejudice when they refused to leave peacefully.
Both companions were in their beast forms, they laid down some distance from one another, not wanting to encroach on each others evolution in any way, yet refusing to be truly separated from one another at this critical point.
At the mouth of the cave their friends were staying to watch over them. Susan, Rhyana, Olivia and Vithrax all staying right at the cave mouth for the duration of their evolution. None of them willing for anyone or anything to dare intrude on them during this critical point.
"Okay I’m starting." Announced Violet as she called her breathing. Then without waiting any longer she pulled up her status screen one final time to assess her current state before willing herself to undergo the evolution.

With a satisfied smile Violet initiated the evolution and felt her consciousness slip as darkness consumed her.
She floated in space, no, that was not right, their was no space present, their was no air present yet she felt no need to breath, their was no mana either yet she felt no strain. No she floated in the absence of everything, she floated in the void.
Yet this was not any kind of void she had ever experienced before.
Her basic spells were like cheep parlour tricks when compared to the utter nothingness surrounding her on all sides.
The pseudo domain that she was so proud of felt insulting to the profundity of the abcense that she found herself in.
In fact, even stating that she existed here was a fallacy, as in this nothingness she did not exist, nothing existed, for nothing could exist in the abcense of everything. To claim that something was here would contradict the very laws of this void.
Yet she was still present, she still experienced this utter absence.
Violet thought that she may find this nothingness to be disconcerting, yet the opposite was more acccurate. It felt... welcoming in its indifference, it reminded her of her earliest memory from when she first awoke with her egg.
Yet their was no desire to escape this absence, for desire did not exist here.
Violet found herself lost in the nothingness, basking in the utter lack of everything.
It was peace at its most profound state. To such a degree that the concept of peace itself felt lacking.
Yet in this space of utter nothingness, devoid of any and everything that could ever exist within reality. Something stirred.
A pulse rippled out in the infinate void of nothing.
The nothingness quaked, as something took root.
It was not a physical thing, for physical things could not exist here.
It was not a concept, as concepts could not exist here.
It was not mana, for mana could not exist here.
No, it was will.
The will of a being who desired to lay claim to this abcense of reality.
Violet exerted her will, her soul reaching out into the nothingness around her causing the abcense of reality to quiver and shake.
Mental tethers, formless and inexistant sunk into the fabric of nothingness.
Claiming it as her own.
Yet how does one lay claim over something that does not exist?
How does someone reach out to encompass the unencompassable?
Violet had considered this, she had long known the nature of the void. She had already claimed a connection to this space that could by definition have no connections.
So, Violet sunk her spiritual teeth into that connection. Her will clamped down on the intangible nothingness of this realm.
At first it felt like nothing was happening, for nothingness was the only concept that lay claim here till now.
Then her will found purchase, her soul latched on to that ephemeral connection that she had founded when she first evolved into a void dragon seemingly so long ago now.
Yet when she locked into it, something, or to be more precise, nothing locked right back into her.
The abcense of existence rebuffed her will. Rebuffing her claim over it.
Her souls shuddered and her will trembled as nothingness briefly swept away all thoughts, all beliefs and her everything momentarily became the nothingness all around her in this formless place.
Yet her will remained.
A growl escaped her and the nothingness trembled as her will surged.
Her mind returned to her, her determination blazing.
She fought back against the nothingness, sinking her claws in alongside her nonexistent fangs.
The void pushed back.
Her will was attacked, ground down and battered by the nothingness that pervaded everything.
Yet she refused to let go.
Her will was her weapon and her shield. When the void erased her will created.
Where nothingness lay dominion her existence uprooted.
For she was Violet. She was the Last Wild Dragon. No, that was no longer correct. She was not the last anymore, no she was the first in a long time yes, but no longer the last.
Yet she was will The Wild Dragon.
She was The Void Dragon.
She was Violet.
And her will demanded that she claimed the void, for it was her home, it was her source, It. Was. Hers!
And no one, not even nothingness itself could deny her claim over this. For her will demanded that she claim it. And so, she did.
The void rippled, trembled, quivered. Then grew still.
For on this day a small patch of nothingness was no longer nothing. In the infinate expanded of the endless void something now existed.
It was a contradiction, yet it simply was.
For now, within the void, where the fundinental laws of reality held no sway, where time and space could not exist, a domain under the authority of the Void Dragon now existed.
Violet felt a surge of profound change encompass her being.
Her soul sang out in resonance with the tenor of the change. Then she felt her souls being drawn away from the void, away from the endless nothingness that encompassed her domain.
It could have taken mere moments or millennia, she knew not for time did not exist in this endless void. Yet in the blink of an eye and the duration of eternity she found herself back within her body. Away from the void, away from nothingness and back into reality.
Yet that tenuous connection she had long held with the void was no longer small and feeble. No, it was now wide and stable, a direct connection to the something that was now hers, definitively and profoundly hers.
Then as her mind processed the enormity of what she had just experienced, she felt something shift within her.
Where her will originated from her ephemeral soul, she felt that to no longer be the case. Where once her mind felt like she actively controlled her body that no longer felt to be the case. For she was her body, her will was her body and her body was her soul. They were no longer 2 separate things, but one indescribable whole, entirely claimed and operated by her will, now backed by the something of her freshly claimed domain over nothing.
Then a welcome sight greeted her as her existence settled.
[Congratulations, you have successfully claimed a domain.
