Chapter 406: Chapter 213: Epic Magic: Frost Storm

[Blizzard] Skill Level +24

[Flame Linked Stars] Skill Level +16

[Spiral Wind Vortex] Skill Level +21

[Blizzard] Skill Level +19

...

A stream of Skill Level notifications floated before his eyes. Before long, a level-up notification appeared.

"Skill [Flame Linked Stars] Level 4 (100/100) has leveled up!"

"Current Skill: [Flame Linked Stars] Level 5 (2/180)"

That notification had barely faded when another one arrived.

"Skill [Spiral Wind Vortex] Level 5 (180/180) has leveled up!"

"Current Skill: [Spiral Wind Vortex] Level 6 (5/300)"

’This is awesome!’

Lin Mo felt utterly refreshed. ’This leveling speed is so satisfying.’

Most important, however, was his [Blizzard] skill. It was his most-used area-of-effect skill, and since he’d gotten it relatively early, he had already raised it to Level 6 during the battle to defend Silver Stream City. On top of that, he had already built up a lot of Skill Level for it.

With the Skill Level he’d just gained, the skill was now less than 70 points away from reaching Level 7, its Full Level.

’That means I only need to cast it about three or four more times...’

[Blizzard]!

Lin Mo cast Blizzard again, but its effect wasn’t as good this time. After his continuous magical bombardment, the number of Goblins in this area had dwindled significantly.

’Looks like it’s time to find a new spot.’

Lin Mo cast [Crystal Shield Skill], then used [Earth-Splitting Strike] to leap into the distance. While moving swiftly through the Goblin Army, he also sent all the Goblins near his landing spot flying into the air.

[Earth-Splitting Strike] Skill Level +17

As one of the more useful skills in the Knight Profession with decent mob-clearing capabilities, it was a major focus of Lin Mo’s practice.

After landing, Lin Mo raised his hand and cast [Blizzard].

The Goblins in this area hadn’t been hit by any wide-area Magic, so they were packed together much more densely.

A single Blizzard wiped out a huge swath of them.

[Blizzard] Skill Level +21

’Just as I thought. That’s a lot more Skill Level than last time.’

Lin Mo took stock of his Magic Power. He still had plenty of Magic Strength. Even after using numerous spells across several battles, including many Excellent Level ones like Blizzard, he still had about a quarter of his Magic Strength remaining. It was more than enough to grind [Blizzard] until it leveled up.

[Taunt]

[Blizzard]!

...

Of course, Lin Mo didn’t forget to use his [Taunt] skill in combination with [Blizzard], conveniently raising its Skill Level as well.

And as it turned out, his [Taunt] skill was the first to level up...

"Skill [Taunt] Level 4 (100/100) has leveled up!"

"Current Skill: [Taunt] Level 5 (1/180)"

As a Green Excellent Level skill, it was only one level away from evolving into an Excellence Level skill.

In Lin Mo’s experience, highly functional skills like this didn’t change much upon evolution. They were typically just enhanced versions of the original, perhaps with a few extra special effects, but their fundamental purpose remained unaffected.

Examples included the progression from Earth Shield Skill to Rock Shield Technique and then to Crystal Shield Skill; or from Tenacity to Resilience, and Healing Technique to Great Healing Skill.

"Hm?"

Suddenly, Lin Mo noticed a Bronze Level Goblin furtively approaching him.

’A Goblin Assassin... Is it trying to assassinate me?’

Lin Mo almost laughed.

’With my current Attributes, even if I just stood here and let this Goblin Assassin attack me, its blade probably couldn’t even pierce my skin.’

Lin Mo’s Professional Level as a Knight wasn’t particularly high, but that was only in comparison to his other Professions. Thanks to the massive attribute bonuses stacked from his many Professions, his base Constitution of 40 Points was boosted by an additional 31 points, bringing it to 71.

Combined with the defensive effects from his Mage Robe and Leather Armor, never mind a Level 3 Bronze Goblin—even a Level 4 one couldn’t possibly break his defense.

’However, this guy could be a big help in evolving my skill.’

Lin Mo cast his [Taunt] skill again, drawing the surrounding Goblins toward him. The unlucky bastard that had been trying to ambush him was inevitably caught by the skill’s effect. Lin Mo immediately raised his hand, gathering the biting Ice Element in his palm. He clenched his fist, and in the next moment, a flurry of snow filled the air as countless hailstones rained down, engulfing a huge area of Goblins before him.

[Blizzard] Skill Level +43!

This time, including the Level 3 Bronze Goblin Assassin, [Blizzard] gained over 40 points of Skill Level, instantly maxing out the progress bar.

’Here it comes!’

Lin Mo’s focus sharpened as he waited for the coming message.

His first Epic Magic was about to arrive!

"Skill [Blizzard] Level 6 (300/300) has leveled up!"

"Current Skill: [Blizzard] Level 7 (Max)"

"Gained attribute points: Magic Power +3, Spirit +2!"

"Has automatically evolved into a New Skill—Frost Storm!"

"Learned Skill [Frost Storm]! Gained attribute points: Magic Power +3, Spirit +2!"

With another 6 points added to his Magic Attribute, Lin Mo’s Basic Magic Power reached 98 points! He was only 2 points away from Level 10!

It had to be said that the Mage really lived up to its reputation as the strongest Profession. Its monster-killing efficiency was incredibly high. On top of that, Mages were divided into many different elements, each with a host of corresponding skills. And since leveling up and evolving each skill helped Lin Mo gain attribute points, Mage had undoubtedly become his strongest and fastest-leveling Profession.
