Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents
Chapter 517: Breakthrough! Potential Perfected!
“According to seniority, you should address me as your senior,” she said with keen interest.
After she spoke, Lu Chao frowned in thought, quickly digesting the news. He wondered if she was truly Mr. Robert’s actual disciple. Although he had his doubts, she had indeed recognized the hard Martial Arts technique, Ten Thousand Jins Return Flow. Furthermore, considering her powerful ability—suspected to be Force Field Control—and her peak Non-human Level strength, there seemed to be no reason for her to fake such a claim.
“Senior.” Having reached this conclusion, Lu Chao obediently addressed her. Since he had received the legacy of Ten Thousand Jins Return Flow, he could indeed be considered half a disciple of Mr. Robert.
“Mhm.” Grey Feather’s eyes lit up, seemingly very satisfied.
Noticing this, Lu Chao asked curiously, “Did you come looking for me just to confirm my identity?”
“Pretty much,” Grey Feather replied casually. She turned and walked to the window. “I issued an order to every branch of the Dark Web: if they ever spot you, they must report it to me.
“Besides…” A trace of coldness entered her eyes as she gazed out at the wilderness. “I heard that member of the Clare People nearly injured you.”
Her serious tone made Lu Chao pause slightly. He could naturally tell her tone wasn’t faked; it even carried a hint of regret, as if she felt it was a pity that member of the Clare People had run away too fast for her to act on his behalf.
“However.” Grey Feather suddenly chuckled. She turned back to look at him, the corners of her lips curling up. “To be able to beat Helido to such a state, you didn’t embarrass our teacher.”
Lu Chao remained silent.
Helido? He silently memorized the name, while also thoroughly confirming his senior’s background. It had only been three days since that member of the Clare People appeared and left, yet she had already found out his name. Such intelligence-gathering capabilities could only belong to the Dark Web, aside from the higher-ups of the Alliance Country.
“Oh, right.” As if remembering something, Grey Feather took an item from her suit pocket and tossed it over.
Lu Chao caught it instinctively. It was a small, disc-shaped storage device.
“This contains my insights from breaking through the Transcendence Level and the Non-human Level,” Grey Feather explained, noticing his confusion. “Although our paths are different, there should still be some common ground.
“Just consider it… a welcome gift from your senior.”
She spoke lightly, but Lu Chao’s eyes narrowed in focus.
Insights on breaking through the Transcendence Level and Non-human Level? Even though she was an ability user, the various paths of Life Energy development inherently shared commonalities, and the principles of breaking through were largely the same. This gift was undoubtedly quite precious. Not only would it increase his certainty of breaking through the Transcendence Level, but it would also provide assistance for his subsequent cultivation and advancement to the Non-human Level.
“Senior.” Lu Chao stood firmly and cupped his fists solemnly. “Thank you.”
This time, he addressed her as his senior with absolute willingness.
Seeing this, Grey Feather waved her hand dismissively, as if she had done something trivial. “It’s nothing.
“If you really want to thank me, then cultivate well and strive to break through to the Non-human Level sooner.”
Lu Chao nodded heavily.
A brief silence fell between them.
“What are your plans next?” Grey Feather asked casually. “Do you want to come back to the Dark Web with me? I can make you a director. It’s much freer than being some Inspector for the Alliance Country.”
Lu Chao paused upon hearing this, then shook his head. “I still have some grudges to settle and a few things to do.”
It wasn’t just his grudge with Biotechnology. The Alliance Country was about to march north to crusade against the Rebel Headquarters Base. Mr. Ji had helped him many times in the past, and he wouldn’t feel right leaving at this moment.
“Alright.” Grey Feather didn’t press the matter. She nodded and said, “Ji Lixian is a decent and reliable person. Sticking with him is fine too.”
At this point, her gaze shifted slightly as she turned her head to look out the window. Outside Mountain City lay the boundless wilderness, where the occasional roars of Mutant Beasts drifted in with the wind.
“However…” Her voice lowered a few pitches, carrying a tone of warning. “Be careful of those from the Starry Sky Trial. Don’t get too deeply involved with them.”
Lu Chao’s eyes narrowed. “The trial-takers from the Klar Civilization?”
“Yes.” Grey Feather withdrew her gaze and looked back at him. “There are nine trial-takers, and all of them are backed by factions within the Klar Civilization. Helido is just one of them.
“Moreover…” She paused for a moment before speaking plainly. “He isn’t the strongest.”
He wasn’t the strongest. Lu Chao’s heart sank. Helido had already forced him to reveal all his trump cards, and he had only barely managed to repel him by fully unleashing his talents. If a stronger trial-taker appeared and threatened him again…
Suddenly, his shoulder was patted lightly. Grey Feather, seeming to read his thoughts, smiled faintly. “I’m just reminding you that there are some things you can’t shoulder alone.
“When you need to call for backup, call for backup.”
Lu Chao stayed silent for a moment before nodding. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Grey Feather said no more and naturally spread her hands open. As if granted a general amnesty, Ghost Element leaped nimbly onto Lu Chao’s shoulder, its eyes filled with terror as it looked at Grey Feather. Seeing this, Lu Chao rubbed its head to comfort it.
Grey Feather smiled faintly at the sight. She didn’t pay too much mind to a Beast King; her gaze soon landed back on Lu Chao’s face.
“There’s one more thing.”
“Please speak, Senior,” Lu Chao said solemnly.
“Have you received any news sent back by our teacher?” Grey Feather asked softly, carrying a trace of anticipation.
Taken aback by the question, Lu Chao shook his head.
Mr. Robert had left Earth Star over thirty years ago, and the only things Lu Chao had received were some pre-recorded messages. The same applied to the other Starry Sky Heroes. No one knew their exact whereabouts or their current situations out in the Starry Sky. He guessed that perhaps only the absolute highest echelons of the Alliance Country, such as Mr. Ji and his peers, might know a thing or two.
