Chapter 611: Chapter 610: How many Pawns?

"Is it finally time?"

Void couldn’t help but smile as he looked at the "new realm."

The Mortal Realm and Upper Realm had finally joined, but the interesting thing was that even though it seemed only the Upper Realm was influencing the Mortal Realm...

Now that the two had finally become one, it was like the Upper Realm had finally found its missing self, as it was upgraded by one level.

The amount of energy pouring out had doubled, and the quality had increased by two or three, meaning one could even see a new Rank 4 being emerge in a few hundred thousand years. ℯ

The dimensions seemed to be stronger, even space. Void felt amused by this. If anything, this change was unexpected.

But then again, the past was really interesting, after all.

He was the one who broke the Upper Realm.

"Void..."

Just then, Ire’s voice sounded as Void raised an eyebrow.

He sat down on a soft couch, with his hands in a popcorn bowl and a fruit juice appearing on a table.

"What’s up, Ire? How is it going?" Void asked as Ire rolled her eyes.

This... doesn’t he seem too calm?

"Ah... you have Authority?"

Ire’s eyes widened as she looked at Void.

What the hell?

Only she knew how long it had taken her to even gain the goodwill of the Realm Consciousness and then trick the Realm Consciousness into believing that she and it were one.

She had to pay a heavy price to get the treasure for that, yet she could only control so much Authority.

But Void here...

He had Authority?

How?

"Heh. Is that surprising? I am, after all, the Great Demon Ancestor. I should have one or two Authorities," Void muttered as Ire fell silent.

Her eyes narrowed.

She was much more knowledgeable than Void. She had encountered a few realms, those she and other Rank 4 demons had conquered and those they had lost.

This was a fairly weak realm but even so, Void was able to steal an Authority while she had suffered for how many years?

Alas, she couldn’t just ask.

Everyone had their secrets, but there was no doubt about Void...

Void was even a talent among demons.

"It’s alright. Don’t be too surprised. I have enough fan girls as it is. Why did you call for me?" Void asked as Ire gulped.

"Well, I think you need to know something... There’s not only one Chosen One," Ire spoke as Void furrowed his brow, then relaxed.

"Of course I know. There are a lot of lucky people in this world. Even reaching Rank 4 requires a crazy amount of luck from the inhabitants. That much I know," Void spoke, but Ire trembled.

"You didn’t know... No, not just those who are lucky. Void, I mean this world has a lot of Sons of Fate. If Leon fails, there are thousands to take his place. Even currently, Leon’s luck is being stripped away by another Chosen One," Ire spoke.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Void sat up.

"Who?"

Void added as Ire paused, then spoke.

"Rasel," Ire said.

By the time Ire’s voice disappeared, Void had already transformed into his demon form.

How could this be?

Was this a backhand that Ancestor Fu had left behind?

Or the doing of this Realm Consciousness...

Wait...

Had he been looking at everything wrongly?

Suddenly, a scene appeared before Void.

A large chessboard with only two pieces.

A white pawn and a black pawn.

Each was at their respective half, with luck, fate, and destiny all revolving around them.

They were the two players.

Then, suddenly, multiple pieces arrived.

The queens, bishops, knights...

All this represented the calamities they would face, their future obstacles, their friends, and their opportunities.

The goal of the two pawns was to walk to their opponents’ side and reach the end, where the pawns would transform into queens.

Every step toward that would see bishops killed, rooks destroyed, and experts supporting them die.

And only when the two reached their destination would they bloom into queens possessing terrifying power.

That would be the climax, and that was when the real players would appear...

But...

This was wrong.

A chessboard never has only two pawns.

Suddenly, it seemed the chessboard inevitably shrank as Void could see the pieces he had once ignored.

There were not only two pawns on the chessboard. Various "pawns" appeared on both side.

He had overlooked this.

Void held the black pieces, and behind him was Ire in the darkness.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side was Ancestor Fu, and at his back was the Realm Consciousness.

"Interesting... really interesting."

Void’s eyes brightened as a grin appeared on his face.

It seemed everyone had some hidden players or some wild cards.

Strength-wise and tactically...

Which meant just "Keith" wouldn’t be enough.

Hehe.

It seemed the organization he and Ire had planted...

This was the perfect time for them to be used.

The Mortal Realm and the Upper Realm had merged, so it would be far easier now.

"Oh, Ancestor Fu, in this game, who will be the last one standing?" Void asked, amused, as he reverted back to his human form.

"Shadow," Void called out softly.

The next second, a being made of pure darkness appeared.

He only had a humanoid figure. He himself was made of darkness and obeyed only Void.

"Send news to the upper echelon. The prophecy has begun... They should now look for him and assist him," Void spoke.

"Yes."

An ancient, hoarse voice replied as, the next second, he was gone.

Void stretched as he lay back down on his recliner.

At this moment, he ate some popcorn leisurely.

His gaze was directed straight at the new realm, filled with expectation.

******

Meanwhile, the powerhouses of the Upper Realm were in full-on shock.

The rumors seemed to be true, right?

Meanwhile, Rank 3 beings and above had already expected it, but even with their preparations, they never expected the Mortal Realm to be the missing piece of the Upper Realm.

Or was it the other way around?

Either way, this new realm had changed.

The quality of the energy had increased, the amount had doubled, and with that came new resources sprouting up.

And more interestingly, civilizations from different eras of history seemed to be returning as ruins appeared one after another...

And at the lowest point of all this was Keith, who took a sharp breath.

After he was spared that day because of Rasel, he had been having a dream about this...

And now, the dream seemed to have been a prediction of the future.

And if that dream was right, then that meant...

In a few weeks...

He would meet some people who would take him "home."
