Chapter 1824: Six Sons' Battle

Ling Shu's voice, dripping with icy killing intent, echoed through the Palace of Stars. Yan Changsheng and Su Ying's hearts sank. Never had they imagined that their companion would have changed so much in their time apart. Ling Shu now treated them as mortal enemies. The red-robed lady was no longer the person they were familiar with, which filled the couple's hearts with agony.

Li Luo sighed in his heart as well. He had assumed that Heavenly Emperor Yin was the only one of the Void Resonance's Six Sons who had been bewitched by the Dark Sect Master, becoming corrupted and turning into her loyal servant. Alas, it seemed Ling Shu was the same. In fact, she might have turned even before Heavenly Emperor Yin did. Her earlier explanation implied that she was the first one to personally encounter the Dark Sect Master and survive.

The Dark Sect Master was simply a warped malevolent creature, and the terrors she could bring had shattered Ling Shu's understanding of the world, even though she was a Divine Fruit Heavenly Emperor herself. With her mind in pieces, she had been implanted with the devil mark and had become a slave.

"Ling Shu, there's only one of you and two of us. There are also countless Heavenly Emperors of this era outside the ruins, so you cannot possibly escape. Since we were once companions, why don't you just surrender? The Dark Sect Master is strong, but it is not impossible to defeat her. When the day comes, we'll find a way to cleanse you of the devil mark," Yan Changsheng said.

Ling Shu revealed a sinister smile upon hearing those words. "Oh? When did I ever say I was alone?"

Yan Changsheng, Su Ying, and Li Luo's expressions changed. They looked at the starry sky behind Ling Shu as it started to distort, transforming into a spatial vortex. A moment later, a figure with a bronze mask walked out of it, and familiar Divine Fruit Authority undulations followed him. Heavenly Emperor Yin had arrived.

"It's been a long time since I've been back," said Heavenly Emperor Yin with his hoarse voice. His bronze mask's eyesockets burned with black flames as he took in the surroundings.

Li Luo's expression sank upon seeing the new arrival. The ruins were currently surrounded by countless Heavenly Emperors of the divine continents, so how had Heavenly Emperor Yin managed to make his way in?

"He was brought here by the formation that protects the sect. Ling Shu has taken control of. It looks like while she was sealed here for all these years, she corrupted the formation as well," Su Ying explained, as though being able to read Li Luo's mind.

Li Luo frowned. With the addition of Heavenly Emperor Yin, the situation was now even.

"Li Luo, do not leave the throne of the Sect Master. That is an area none of us can enter," said Yan Changsheng, who also understood that it would be difficult to avoid a fight.

"I never would have thought that the four of the Void Resonance's Six Sons would one day engage in a battle within the Sect Master's cultivation chamber," Yan Changsheng said to the others, his words filled with sorrow and weariness.

A moment later, he released a glorious amount of golden light, and the heaven-shaking roar of a Peng reverberated through the sky. Then a gigantic Golden Winged Peng appeared. Every flap of its sky-spanning wings caused boundless Divine Fruit Authority to sweep across the area.

Su Ying also sighed sadly as she appeared atop the Golden Winged Peng's head. A beautiful radiance emerged from the mark between her eyebrows, and a Divine Fruit flowing with endless rosy light, akin to the clouds at sunset, could be seen. This was Su Ying's strongest resonance, the rosy sky resonance.

She formed a single handseal that caused immense amounts of Divine Fruit Authority to surge, condensing around Yan Changsheng's transformed body. A while later, his golden feathers were all imbued with a rosy light. Several magnificent divine feathers that extended from the Golden Peng's tail radiated with a myriad of colors, emitting a pressure that struck fear into the hearts of ordinary Heavenly Emperors.

Heavenly Emperor Yin could sense the extraordinary pressure coming from the Golden Winged Peng. He sighed and said, "Five Colored Blooming Feathers. I personally witnessed countless Grand Devil Kings of the Shadow World be suppressed by this very light. I never thought that I would have to fight you one day."

"It seems the two of you can be pretty merciless despite facing off against former companions," said Ling Shu in a teasing manner, though her eyes remained cold and vicious, showing indifference towards their previous relationship. "It's a pity... if we were fighting outside, the two of you together might have been able to suppress us. However... this is our territory."

The red-robed lady stretched out her fair, slender hands and beckoned violently. A moment later, the starry sky let out a rumble. Yan Changsheng and Su Ying raised their heads and saw the starry skip rip apart. Huge amounts of power poured down, obliterating everything in its path.

Yan Changsheng flapped his wings, causing the multicolored Divine Fruit Authority to transform into a golden sea dyed a rosy hue. The sea clashed against the torrent of destruction.

Bang!

A destructive wave propagated across the starry sky, rendering the numerous stars into fine dust.

Li Luo raised his head and inspected his surroundings. The entire area was slowly fragmenting and collapsing, revealing the dome of the Palace of Stars. Outside, the sect protection formation was running at full power, attacking Yan Changsheng and Su Ying. This caused Li Luo's expression to turn increasingly ugly. How could Ling Shu control the sect's formation as she wished? Wasn't such control only possible for the Sect Master?

Ling Shu's icy voice echoed through the sky. "Yan Changsheng, Su Ying, I've been trapped here for so long that I've modified the formation. Even if the Sect Master were to come in person, she wouldn't be able to reclaim control of it. I cannot possibly lose a fight in these ruins."

After speaking, she immediately activated the formation at full power, causing a vast divine light to surge downwards, turning into a pagoda ten million feet tall. The pagoda was inscribed with countless ancient seals and radiated unimaginable amounts of archaic power of Authority.

The formation contained the imprints of the past generations of the Sacred Void Resonance Sect's Heavenly Emperors, and the pagoda was known as the Starry Pagoda of Myriad Emperors. Even a Divine Fruit Heavenly Emperor wouldn't casually confront it head-on.

The pagoda descended from the sky, radiating with glorious light. It was heading towards the Golden Winged Peng. Yan Changsheng let out a heaven-shaking screech, and all of his tail feathers shone with resplendent light, causing immense energy to sweep outwards and collide with the pagoda.

Bang!

The Starry Pagoda shook violently, and its descent slowed down.

"Hmph." Heavenly Emperor Yin coldly snorted and spat out black starfire. As the starfire spread across the area, all of the countless stars were set aflame and turned into viscous black flame seals that attached themselves to the pagoda.

The pagoda was augmented with new power, becoming immeasurably heavier. As a result, Yan Changsheng and Su Ying's combined power was shattered. The Golden Winged Peng's tail feathers began to reveal signs of weakening when faced with the mighty pressure emanating from the pagoda.

Clearly, with Ling Shu's control over the formation and with Heavenly Emperor Yin's support, the couple was now at a disadvantage. The battle between Divine Fruit Heavenly Emperors had become much more ferocious and dangerous than anyone had expected.

The bright side was that the disturbance within the ruins did not go unnoticed by Heavenly Emperor Jiang and the others. They knew that something had happened inside the ruins as soon as they sensed the tremors, and they acted decisively.

"Everyone, work together to attack the ruins!" Heavenly Emperor Jiang commanded.

The other Heavenly Emperors all summoned up their Authorities, creating all sorts of wondrous attacks that shot towards the ruins. Unfortunately, the protective formation of the sect was already operating at full capacity.

Countless illusory figures appeared from within the empty palaces inside the ruins, possessing great strength. They glared angrily at the attempted invasion of the Heavenly Emperors and furiously roared, "Who dares to offend our glorious sect?"

They then unleashed their own powers in response to the divine continents' Heavenly Emperors' attacks, preventing the foreign invaders from trespassing. A massive battle had truly unfolded. Frightening energy tides raged across every corner of the ten divine continents, causing the living creatures to stare in terror, thinking that the ten year grace period had come to an end.

Meanwhile, Li Luo, still standing on the throne, continued to watch Yan Changsheng and Su Ying battle valiantly despite being at a disadvantage. He knew that if this continued, the two of them would be trapped and suppressed. Therefore, he had to figure something out.

He lowered his head and turned his attention towards the spatial fog resonance. This was the third resonance in the world that had touched on the quasi tenth-grade. However, how could he borrow its power without the Absolute Resonance Seed?
