Chapter 407: Beast Tide? Just This? – 1

“Elaris, everything alright?” Leo asked the elf in charge of the core of the omnidirectional sense array.

“Yes, my Lord! Everything is alright. I can only sense the students and their tamed beasts. Nothing from the air.”

Leo nodded, and at that moment, Lily contacted him.

“Leo… I guess we are way too overprepared. I don’t think they will even be able to take a foot inside our territory,” Lily said, a faint apprehension in her voice as she thought about the moment the top 10 students would arrive. She doubted she would even need to take action before that.

“Is that so?” Leo said, a little amused. He was surprised that dealing with Peak 2-star and lower-ranked people and beasts had become this easy. He didn’t even need to lift a finger. Though, he decided to lift one anyway.

“Let’s make it a literal breeze then—Howl.”

After commanding Howl, he himself activated his [Golem Construct] skill.

With regular use, Howl’s mastery of the skill had reached Low 99%. Leo suspected that some special comprehension was required for it to rank up, but that was a concern for another day.

At once, Leo summoned 30 Mid 2-star Golems, while Howl summoned 15 Mid 2-star Golems. The reason Leo could summon more was that Howl operated at the mid-3-star level, while Leo did it at the very peak of the 3-star realm, since Howl was in the 3-star realm.

These Golems looked far more refined now. Instead of crude lumps of rock shaped vaguely like bodies, they had defined arms, torsos, and legs. Fine features like finger joints were still absent—no fingers at all, only rounded stumps meant for crushing blows.

He could feel Lily’s dissatisfaction through the link; this move further reduced her chances of taking action. As a small concession, he commanded the golems to station themselves 50 meters behind the territory boundary, just short of the watchtowers so that people have something to deal with and not remain idle.

-30000 mana

“Oh shoot.”

He immediately cut off the mana supply, rendering the golems dormant. They stood motionless, like silent statues under the night sky.

30000 mana per minute to maintain 30 golems was far too costly—his reserves would be drained in 10 minutes. Better to use them only when needed. As for Howl’s summons, 1 or 2 remained active so the beast wouldn’t feel left out of the raid. Not that he had anything better to spend his mana on. Until now, the only time he had used mana was to manipulate earthen matter around Yano’s snake’s outer layer and fling it out of the ground before it could burrow and reach Howl’s soft skin.

Naturally, the snake had sensed the overwhelming presence interfering with it and was terrified.

The 50-meter buffer zone was the deepest any attacker had managed to reach before being forced to teleport away because of fatal blows. Soon enough, no attackers remained.

“How many were they?”

“Lord, from my estimate, around 300 people,” Sylrael responded.

Leo nodded, faint satisfaction settling in. His defense truly was top-notch.

“At this rate, Tavian’s array is going to be useless,” Kaelion remarked.

Even the array launchers remained unused, making the elves slightly restless in the stillness of the dark night. The only mechanisms seeing action were Bigfoot’s traps.

Some attackers failed to notice the tripwires and concealed pitfalls—plunging to their deaths, skewered by spikes or crushed into pulp by heavy logs released upon triggering the wires.

“Well, I guess it’s for the better. Now that it’s known there’s a big natural treasure at the center of the territory, I don’t think we’ll be resting easy even after the raids,” Leo said.

He glanced back. The golden light had almost faded.

“L-Lord! I have retrieved the treasure that grew inside the flower. Sorry if I overstepped. Originally, I wanted to leave the fruit there, but I saw the flower starting to absorb its energy back into itself, so I took it immediately. It’s completely safe in my hands!” Aeila said through the link. At her location, her face was flushed, steam-like warmth rising from her skin due to the overflowing vitality of the fruit. She desperately wanted to take a bite of how appetising the fruit looked—but restrained herself.

Leo observed the tree carefully. As expected, the flower had vanished, reverting into ordinary branches and leaves.

“No, you did the right thing. Keep that fruit safe until I arrive.”

“Okay!”

In the distance, Leo could already sense the beasts approaching rapidly—his [Geo Resonance Sense] capturing every vibration within a 2.5-kilometer radius.

Leo cracked his knuckles.

“Everyone, stay alert. Though I said I would handle every beast, the territory is large, and they are coming from all directions. I might miss some,” Leo said, his calves tightening.

Wind energy swirled faintly around his body, making the air ripple as if charged.

“Kaelion, you’d better be faster than me, or you might miss the beast core you so desperately want to gift Miho.”

“Tsk! Who’s desperate?” Kaelion sneered, though the fact that he fused with Singham at that exact moment told otherwise.

The reason Leo was confident he could outpace Kaelion was simple—the trait [Feline Agility].

Without it, Kaelion might have surpassed him using his speed-based soul techniques. But with a 60% boost, there was no contest.

Leo’s Agility: 960 [2110] + {60% boost (Optional)}

Usable Agility Stat: 3376

Kaelion’s Agility: 900; 1800 after soul fusion + 20% Uncommon Soul speed technique boost

Usable Agility Stat: 2160

A difference of over 1000 stat points—and it became evident the moment a 5-meter boar-like beast entered sight. It had likely reduced its size to move swiftly through the forest.

Iron Tusk Boar (Mid 3-star) – Mortal Bloodline

The beast charged madly toward the central tree, ignoring everything around it.

And just as madly as it ran, its head suddenly separated just like that—rolling off to the side. Strangely, its body continued running.

Iron Tusk Boar (Mid 3-star) killed – 20,000 XP

Level 26: 59,500 / 70,850 -> 70,850 / 70,850

Stats Updated!

“Sylrael, Elirin—we’ve got today’s breakfast. Get the corpse somewhere safe and clean,” Leo said, flicking his dagger to shake off the clinging blood.

The next moment, he vanished again.

Behind him, Sylrael extended vines, grabbing the headless boar and dragging it into the bunker, where Miho had already prepared ice for preservation with the beast core of a ice beast.

And just like that, Leo’s real levelling began.
