“I accept the condition.”
After saying that, she focused inward as the contracts in either of her hands imprinted her mana signature.
The mana contract floated mid-air, shimmering softly before dissolving into particles. Veronica felt a faint ripple pass through her mind as the agreement settled within it.
As for the Empire contract, something unique happened.
After floating in the air for a moment, the thick parchment divided into 3 thin, translucent parchments. One drifted toward Veronica and another toward Leo, both dissolving into their bodies in a swirl of faint golden particles. The last parchment hovered upward and, in the next moment, disappeared entirely.
It had been transferred to the Empire’s vault so that it could be retrieved if a situation ever arose.
“Good,” Leo said, waving his hand. Instantly, 10 fruits of each variety appeared before Veronica.
“You will receive 10 fruits of each type every day for free to experiment. If you want more, you can directly talk with Miho and buy them from her. As for your working facilities, they will be arranged soon, and if you need anything, just relay that information through Miho.” Leo paused for a moment before continuing.
“Remember, don’t approach the plateau area by yourself. It’s for your own safety. The mana density there will be harmful at your current level. If you need to relay information, just do it through Brok or Miho when she comes to periodically fill in the water supply for you people.”
Leo had constructed a big tanker made of compressed earth element—similar to marble—which Miho filled every morning for the three girls, the siblings, and Brok. It was also at that time that Miho noted the reports given by them and relayed them to Leo, Kaelion, or Lily.
The reports basically contained information on the surrounding situation, including beasts in the area, surrounding territories, and individuals fighting to bring hunted food into the territory. For now, only this was their job, as the territory was still in its preliminary stages.
After this, Leo headed back toward the location where the others were already waiting for him, leaving the siblings behind to discuss things on their own.
“Veronica… don’t you think you made a—”
“No.” Veronica cut Virat short before he could finish his sentence.
“Lord Leo laid his conditions upfront, which is only done by upright individuals. It’s not a question of whether joining him was the correct choice, but rather whether I will be able to meet his expectations.” She looked down at the berries in her hand.
“And I will try my best not to fail him. As commoners, this is our golden chance to rise in status, and for that we need to keep working hard. You can already tell how much influence the Lord and Miss Lily, who is obviously his wife, will have in the future.”
“As a matter of fact, even if they were to leave the academy right now and their strength stopped increasing, they would still be among the top-tier individuals of the Empire.”
“Don’t you remember that noble girl—the one who kept sabotaging me? Her father is just a Peak 3-star individual, yet he controls a whole tier 4 bordering city. Us being under the Lord, who can display the strength of a 5-star, has no downsides. Especially when people like that girl can’t afford—or even think of—messing with us when our lord is far stronger than her Viscount father.”
Veronica finished speaking as Virat slowly understood the implication of being under someone like Leo.
Now they wouldn’t have to worry about or hide from petty people like that noble girl. They could truly focus on becoming stronger.
“The Lord trusted me with these, and I will show my worth so that I also receive a contract that can make me his subordinate,” Virat said, holding the Desert Eagle that felt perfect in his hands.
Veronica smiled warmly.
“Don’t worry. I will make sure you become strong. You’ve already done a lot, so now relax a bit and let your sister do some work.”
Virat shook his head.
“I can’t afford to be lax, especially when we’ve been given such a good opportunity.”
Veronica giggled softly.
“You really need a good girl to help relax you. Don’t you see how the Lord always looks energetic around Miss Lily? Let me be the matchmaker.”
“Shut it. If I can’t even protect myself, how am I supposed to protect another person? Let me become strong enough first,” Virat said firmly.
“But you’ve been protecting me until now, haven’t you? I’m sure you’re capable.” She said quietly.
Before Virat could respond, Veronica turned around.
“Alright, I’m going to do some experiments with the new ingredients. See you later.”
With that, she departed, leaving Virat alone with his thoughts.
He looked up just in time to see Brok’s massive eagle flying away with all the territory core members riding on its back. The wind brushed past him, making his grey hair flutter as his eyes narrowed slightly.
“I will work hard so that I can soon sit beside the Lord on missions…” he muttered before turning toward the forest, gripping the new toys Leo had given him today.
–On the back of Brok’s eagle–
“You messaged that sly guy?” Kaelion asked.
“Sly in the sense that he made us fight? But if you call him sly, then what will you call me?” Leo replied with a faint grin.
“I made him lose tons of money from betting after he misjudged my strength.”
Kaelion shook his head.
“You are the most shameless and… crazy person I have ever seen. So, no words for you.”
He had wanted to say the second craziest person to Leo—the first being Lily—but he couldn’t afford to offend her now that she was stronger than him.
Wait… did I offend her by insulting Leo?
Kaelion felt a cold sweat trickle down his back as he cautiously cast a side glance toward Lily.
She seemed completely occupied talking with Miho, the two of them scrolling through outfits on their phones while discussing good options for the elven slaves they would soon be acquiring.
Kaelion quietly sighed in relief.
As they landed, they headed straight toward Aurelius Hall to meet Andrew. The group quickly recognised the sophomore archer by his distinguished tri-cornered hat and perpetually narrowed eyes.
Leo wasted no time.
“You said you had information regarding a conquerable Wood Elf realm?”
