Chapter 320: Secret Realm - 1

Chapter 320: Secret Realm – 1

A/N: I have revised the cost to enter the secret realm, 100,000 AC per person to enter, and the professor won’t step in until the student is at verge of dying, which includes losing a limb. And regenerating a limb costs 1 million AC.

Yes, no 1-Million fine that will go in professor’s pockets. That 100,000 AC covers the cost of your survival.

Chapter 320: Secret Realm – 1

“How are your injuries?” Leo asked during their breakfast, glancing at Leon across the campfre.

“It’s okay. I can fight,” Leon replied calmly.

“No! Brother Leon will not fight. I will fight in his place,” Miho protested immediately, shaking her head. As usual, she was firmly against Leon fighting while his body was injured.

“Well, I am pretty sure he won’t need to fight with all four of us going inside the realm together. Especially when Singham is about to break through in the 4-star realm,” Leo said with a small shrug.

Leon nodded; he was indeed unlikely to fight.

“But I can always give you another petal to heal your injuries,” Leo suggested. Consuming a petal of Elasian Bloom would close the external wounds on his body with the overflowing vitality released during absorption.

“No need. I already know you will have a condition attached to it,” Leon sneered.

“Yeah, why not? Isn’t what I am giving you valuable beyond measure? It would be natural for you to become my lifelong servant,” Leo replied matter-of-factly.

“Shut it,” Leon scoffed, waving him off as their topic shifted.

“So a wood elf secret realm… I got to know that with their coordinated attack, they can easily deal with a peak 3-star beast,” Leo said thoughtfully.

“Easily… but easily what? A single beast? If that’s the case, Singham can hold them back while we run around and capture them one by one,” Leon said. But Lily interjected.

“Or I can use my new beast, Hydra. It’s more than enough. Isn’t my teacher, Professor Katherine, going to be our overseer? With her there, there’s no danger of any secret becoming public.”

Leon nodded.

“Yes, we can trust her. I guarantee that.”

As Leon spoke about Katherine, both Leo and Miho side-eyed him.

“What’s up with Kaelion?”

“Why did she call you K?”

Both asked simultaneously.

Leon grimaced, pressing a hand to his head as if a splitting headache had suddenly assaulted him.

“Nothing…”

That blabbering hag…

Leon cursed internally.

“Nothing… really?” Leo insisted, raising a brow.

“Tsk. My real name,” Leon responded irritably.

Both Leo and Miho nodded slowly, while Lily simply listened. This was news to her.

What? Don’t they know who I am, even after my name was revealed? Damn… they really must be from the outskirts… Kaelion thought.

But then Miho broke the silence.

“C-can I call you brother K or… or brother Kaelion?” she asked timidly.

When Leon heard his real name from Miho’s mouth, something stirred in his heart. He looked at her pleading eyes and couldn’t stop himself from getting flustered.

“Cough! You can, but don’t do it in public. Only people close to me know that name,” he said, clearing his throat.

“Yay!” Miho cheered brightly.

She didn’t like the fact that a strange woman felt so intimate with Leon, while she—

Wait… Why was I bothered so much?

While Miho was busy spiralling in her thoughts, the topic shifted back to secret realms.

“So what do we know about secret realms?” Leo asked.

Lily shook her head in denial; she hadn’t studied it in the library. As for Leo, he was just as clueless.

Their eyes naturally went to Kaelion.

He sighed helplessly before giving a gist of what secret realms are.

“So, basically… these are parts of land from a different world that got stuck between both planes while merging with Skadrial and cannot merge naturally?” Leo confirmed.

“Yes,” Kaelion replied.

A secret realm is like a pocket dimension that has the capability to sustain life within itself on its own for a long duration. Whereas a realm dungeon, which is different from a natural dungeon, can sustain life forever on its own.

These secret realms house living beings of their respective world and try to bring them out safely to the other world, ensuring their survival. And until all living beings inside the secret realm are either dead or out, the secret realm cannot merge with Skadrial.

So, in order to bring out all living beings inside the realm, the world force opens a gate periodically at the same location so that everyone eventually gets out. Since a secret realm is a mechanism created by the world itself, to ensure the survival of the living beings inside it, the world denies teleportation inside a realm through any means other than the gate itself.

Though, it’s more like a being cannot enter or exit the secret realm, which is between two worlds or planes—anyone who tries to force their way in or out would have to leave their physical body behind, much like the demons from the abyss.

Another way the mechanism ensures the survival of the beings inside is through a chosen candidate. Images, vivid memories, and dreams related to the new world—these are shown to the chosen candidate within the realm so that he or she relays that information to the people inside, allowing them to grasp what is going on in the world and what will happen to them if they come out unguarded.

On rare occasions, the dream would even show glimpses of some faraway areas so that the inhabitants don’t get fooled by their immediate surroundings.

The mechanism also prevents high-level beings from forcing the inhabitants out. Professors are also counted among these high-level beings. They can make their way inside and chat with the inhabitants, but they cannot attack in any form. Though they are allowed to defend themselves, and this allows a professor to escort low-ranked beings (students) who can actually attack the inhabitants and retreat by defending when the students get overwhelmed.

As for the reason secret realms allow low-ranked beings to enter—it is for sustenance. Since a secret realm has finite resources, it allows these beings to enter, as on top of being a resource themselves, they bring in spatial artefacts that contain more resources. This way, the inhabitants can stay longer in the realm.

And low-ranked in the sense that the strongest in the entering group shouldn’t outclass the strongest inside the realm by a great scale.

“So… Lily being a low 4-star individual cannot attack inside the secret realm that we will enter? And what about her hydra?” Leo asked after Kaelion finished his explanation.

A/N: Sorry for the late Chapter, I had to travel between cities once again and was busy doing important irl stuff the whole day.

I will publish the remaining Chapter within a few hours. As for the remaining 2 bonus Chapter… I am really trying my best…
